A new thing at Bitrefill? We now have limits before to be forced to verify our account. I say 'forced' because we can purchase an item without the need to sign up. I'm bothered because with an account we can for exemple deposit BTC, convert in euros and use our balance another day And just after buying a voucher, the limit has been updated (see pic #3). So that's something new? Last time I used Bitrefill was ~2 months ago. No way LeGaulois sends his ID cards. Too cute The verification process is done via the Sumsub platform. "Secure & GDPR compliant" Oh yeah Secure, they all say that but that's not true, it's rather trolling me FYI, Sumsub is in partnership with several cryptos related companies, And of course, manipulating data about you...

I don't remember what the limits used to be, but the limits page from the second screenshot has always been there. The warning when depositing is new though.

Bitrefill has had those limits for as long as I can remember. I don't really worry about them: who's going to buy $10,000 per month on Bitrefill?

I've never pay attention there are limits. I learned it while seeing the warning when I deposit. Well, I shall say they improved since now I'm aware
I thought it was for lifetime and not per month (I haven't read correctly ) Fair enough, but perhaps a day I'll be rich

Yep, that's exactly how it is. The limits have been around for a long time. I had a short chat via e-mail with the support in 2021( ?) and they confirmed that there are certain limits. Looks like only the note about the limits is new. At least I had not seen this before. But I haven't used Bitrefill for a few months either. who's going to buy $10,000 per month on Bitrefill?
Perhaps someone needs a Netflix subscription until 2183?

Perhaps someone needs a Netflix subscription until 2183? Is Netflix even going to be around in 2183? @LeGaulois Are they using some KYC provider to live-shoot the ID like everyone else, or are they just asking for photo ID upload? I'm not holding my breath, hopefully they're not using some trash ID verification service.

The KYC process is handled by Sumsub, a verification platform which is used by plenty of players in the space, as it seems. See below: Source: Bitrefill, KYC More Infos here: https://sumsub.com/privacy-notice/Looks like they are also working with Binance, Bybit & Huobi. Can anyone comment on how reputable/respected the KYC provider is?

Bitrefill now has Prepaid Mastercard gift cards for the US. I can't buy it because of my location, so I can't see the real price, but the "estimate" for a $1 prepaid mastercard is 4279 sat! That would mean a prepaid mastercard with no overhead, I thought it usually costs at least a few bucks per card.

Used it to pay a cable bill with no issues. You don't actually get a card number, you get an activation code and have to go to https://MyPrepaidCenter.com/redeem to activate it. Spit out a Master Card with an expiration date 6 months out and all the other info. If you buy it in a store with cash there is usually a $2.95 to $4.95 fee egifter also charges a fee. At a *guess* they are probably getting some of the % of the sales to run it though and are making their money that way. OR like your local drug dealer they are keeping it free to start, once they get you hooked then it's gonna cost you. But as of now it's a 1 to 1 deal. -Dave

Seemed to work with me when accessing a previous Walmart card of mine. It should work as long as the website is not banning tor, or there is no Cloudflare with annoying captcha.

I tried, but when I try to buy one it brings me to https://www.bitrefill.com/api/cart?redirect showing this: message "This product does not exist" status "invalid_product" I haven't tried a VPN yet.

I believe yes. Yesterday, while discovering the website, I saw they mention a 2% fee when you use the card to pay in another area/currency Another hint is the fact it's translated in others languages, so they can serve people outside USA. And there is list of restricted countries, so others can use it,...and since it's not using USD...

I tried again by using a VPN, and got this: This product is currently not available for VPN users. That's a first! This message only shows up after I click "Add to cart". I'll try from a server in the US when they're available again. Update: I tried to buy a prepaid mastercard from Bitrefill again, this time from a Ramnode cloud server in Atlanta. Even though I used Firefox on the server, I got the same result: it still says I'm using a VPN.

I also tried to use Vultr, but with no luck. I'm getting the same message. But even after managing to buy them, you would probably still need to submit your documents on the card's provider website.

But even after managing to buy them, you would probably still need to submit your documents on the card's provider website. I've never seen a coupon on Bitrefill that requires documents. @DaveF: can you confirm this? KYC would make a $2 prepaid Mastercard utterly useless.

Just some basic name and address info, but you would need to give most of them something for online purchases so they could verify address & zip when processing the card. At least here in the US the online merchants verify the house number and zip code or the card gets declined. They prepaid center never did any verification if it's a real address. I just PMd both of you. -Dave

They prepaid center never did any verification if it's a real address. Don't you risk them freezing the card if they ever ask for an address verification that you can't provide?

They prepaid center never did any verification if it's a real address. Don't you risk them freezing the card if they ever ask for an address verification that you can't provide? Possibly. But even so, I have bought physical prepaid cards [in a store with cash] for customers when I had to pay for some subscription or something and could not track down one of the owners and used bogus addresses and never had an issue.
So with a bit of testing. It looks like even if you get past the purchasing of the card and getting the activation info you cannot activate the card using any known VPN IP. Will just fail. If you get around THAT and get it activated you cannot use it in some locations. Did a few tests with people. Some worked some did not. Will let them comment in the thread if they want to discuss. -Dave

I'll comment: It's one of the reasons I prefer crypto All those fraud checks are (obviously) meant to prevent fraud, but don't include the privacy conscious user who just wants to pay something without sharing their real information. Maybe it will get better once they roll out prepaid creditcards to other countries. Thanks DaveF for testing.
