I am confused though if this is legit news or not and another confusion is the ETH 2.0 suppose to introduce the POS staking ability on the ETH blockchain? If that is the case ETH will be in trouble because many people are looking forward to it, look at tezos project, it's presently the best staking coin and the price keeps rising

yep , as far i know project will be started on january next year .
but on another article i read, it will be started on june next year , well whateva , as long that happened on 2020 , its surely good , since bitcoin halving make good sentiment on crypto world, as the runner up on crypto market, i also believe ETH 2.0 will make a new good sentiment for crypto world.

Very true, it will require number of years to determine if the network is truly serving its purpose. But this only shows that eth network will be here for another couple of years or so. They are one of the platforms that are continuously looking for improvement on their services. And this is a good thing as their value will also increase.

It would be extremely disappointing in my opinion if it took more than a year or two for ETH2.0 to kick in.

This is because of the fact that the whole narrative of ETH was based on the fact that it offers a more scalable version of BTC, and there was a period of time where ETH transaction fees were more than that of even BTC's iirc.

It's obviously a huge hit and a big reason why price action is subdued. If they can get ETH2.0 to work in the near future then they are able to turn this ship around.

Hard fork I think should not take that long except they are considering the current value of ethereum. Remember the last bitcoin fork was around the greatest bull run in the history of cryptocurrency.

You are right if Ethereum 2.0 takes so long until 2030 to launch, another will launch or will take place from running blockchain. Although already news was cleared about Ethereum that for next two hard fork and Ethereum 2.0. Another is no matter this long two bullrun before that time.

If it's going to be that long, I guess everyone will be bored and this can finally one of the reason for the people ethereum to dump it willingly. But as long as there are updates that are being said by the team, this can make ethereum alive and continue to be the top 2 cryptocurrency.

Wow, this is really going to take a long while but I don't think the Ethereum community will be very pushy if the developers need this time in order to make this upgrade and development secured.
