Personally, it's never a media vs reported target question for me: media are untrustworty whatsoever, especially mainstream ones. As Corbyn excellently put it the other day, "we believe in free press... now we pray for press to free itself from its corporate shareholders' agenda".

It's worth noting that Trump is not any kind of traditional conservative politician. Look at the number of Repubs who were opposed to him (some of them still are).

He is something quite different, and for many people, hard to comprehend.

therefor a statment like "muslims are criminal" can be correct or a lie at the same time depending on the perspective, i personal have given up (as a german) i know that you can't behave in a way that makes everyone happy without also destryoing yourself.

We have freedom of speech... the 1st Amendment:

So, the question is, when Trump talked, did he talk as President? Or did he talk personally? If he talked personally, he could say almost anything under the 1st Amendment.

But if he talked as President, the 1st Amendment still applies... except if he broke a contract/agreement, or said something that might endanger government security or the American people. Since what Trump said was just the opposite of this, 1st Amendment freedom of speech applies... lies or no lies.

The media has become so partisan in the last decade that it’s insane.  The blatant manipulation of polls and dissemination of blatantly false information on both sides is abhorrent.  The 2 party system is an utter failure and the US needs a 3rd and even 4th viable party more than ever.  I shouldn’t have to choose between 2 opposite lunatics every election.
