How is the Most Recognized calculated now?
The intent was to keep it the same and expand everything out to 10,000 ranks per category. The complications came primarily from the trust scores and the fact that ~2/3s of the users in that 10,000 group had a 0 value, and because the secondary sort is for date registered, it created larger fluctuations than anticipated under the recognition rank from older users. I knew some ranks were possibly going to shift with introducing a larger pool of users, but not to the extent of what occurred. Ultimately, after a long deliberation between SM and I, and while trying to maintain the original calculation as close as possible, we've landed on this: The " Most Trusted" ranking will assess 10,000 users, but will only display and rank those with a trust value greater than 0. At the time of this post, that last rank ends up being 3,677. This will obviously fluctuate. Any user with a 0 value for trust will use a default value in the "trust rank" of their recognition score, being +1 of the last visible rank (in this case, 3,678). Recognition = 10,000 - (earned merit rank + activity rank + trust rank) / 3)) - with "trust rank" having the default value mentioned above for any user with a 0 trust score. Other updates:

I was curious so I tried this feature in my most merited topic: https://bpip.org/MeritedPosts?tid=5566346.0It says that the OP received merit from 18 different users, but if you visit the post and count it manually, there's only 16. It's because two people sent merit twice. Seems like the "Unique Senders" column shows the number of merit transactions instead. A minor detail, but could be confusing. |

First it jumped from 1000-1100th (regular) to 724th, and then straight to 1524th. LOL  I was somewhere around 120, now I'm 400+. Not that it matters too much, it seems to coincide with my recent 400/4000 achievements. |

Just using square root may be too forgiving. Maybe softening the ranks, applying weight, then squaring it back toward the original scale. I asked AI.  satoshi recognized = 10000 - POWER(((POWER(26, 0.75) * 0.45) + (POWER(21, 0.75) * 0.45) + (POWER(10000, 0.75) * 0.10)), 1.0 / 0.75) = 9475.524 Might be too complicated or hinder overly active users with not much merit or trust, but then maybe those are just shitposters lol *shrug* I'm curious what it would look like in either scenario so I'll try a few things out once I get a little more time, really didn't want to mess too much with the original formula, but I don't like seeing some of these users down in the ranks either, when they are clearly recognized by probably a lot of us.  |

I think accounts like satoshi and hal should have customized positions that permanently stays around the top positions. Satoshi is easily the most recognizable name in the crypto space which includes this forum, he should not be so affected by inactivity.
Beyond that I think other OGs who are inactive may no longer be recognizable to majority of active users here.

I didn’t even realise I was in the top 1,000 Well, I’d say there’s no mistake – there must be better users than me in the top 1,000. I’ve only been on this forum for a year; how on earth could I possibly be in the top 1,000? This new formula is most likely better than the old one. |

Can you try a few lists with different formulas? How about taking the square root out of each rank, so one large ranking doesn't have a strong influence if the other 2 rankings are small.
Example: satoshi: 26^0.5 + 10000^0.5 + 21^0.5=109.68. You'd have to do the entire list to see if this makes sense or not.

I see a lot of familiar names moved up, but also many familiar names moved down. Please ignore my brainfart Here too, familiar names move up, but I barely recognize any of the names that dropped down. You may be on to something here. But: why not just go back to the Top 1000 the way it was before? it keeps users like Hal and laszlo in there, and satoshi ends up higher, even though they all drop slightly... am I being too nostalgic? All of those users are from before I got here, so yeah, you're nostalgic Then again, so am I |
