If we send bitcoin over Bluetooth without net connection then it is
not possible to mine it. so without confirmation it is not possible to
send.

but it is possible if miner has a built in bluetooth option with a vast
coverage and it is useable within a short area like in a
supershop/departmental store.

I've seen that it's possible to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain using mesh network antennas, satellites and even radio waves. This is great, because it further decentralizes Bitcoin as we know it. But I'm wondering if it's possible to send/receive Bitcoin over Bluetooth? Considering that most devices of today are powered by Bluetooth, it's much easier for anyone to interact with Bitcoin this way than using satellites, and other means mentioned previously.

Do you think something like this is possible these days? If so, how can I do this with my mobile device? Any recommendations or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Smiley
after the transfer, you will also need to go online to confirm the transaction
it's also possible that the sender will cancel the transaction or remove the coin before you confirm it
in my opinion, even it is possible it will be complicated and not safe

I think sending bitcoin using a Bluetooth is the same as sending bitcoin using QR codes because you can only make transactions in a small distances, but sending bitcoin over bluetooth is very prone to hackers because they can easily connect with your transaction, so it is still better to make transactions in crypto by QR codes because no one can actually join to your transaction.

That's really an amazing idea to just send bitcoin using Bluetooth or any kind of antenna system or even using satellites. I mean in that case we don't even need the internet to do that, it will be more easier and so secure and safe. I don't know if that's gonna be feasible or not, but if there's any connexion between Bluetooth networks and blockchain then it can happen.

You really described a very good sense, where you can make cryptocurrency transactions using qr code.  But the fact is that this idea can be implemented, for example, with fixed payments, which can be carried out, for example, in public transport, where using a mobile device and a scanner you can pay for a ticket using cryptocurrency.  But with regard to the use of bluetooth, the situation is really complicated, Although it can be implemented for payments, for example, in a cafe.

I don't use Bluetooth for long now. I try NFC sometimes but not regularly. I prefer some mobile apps in file transfer. But if thru wallet to wallet sending of bitcoin then NFC is a good option, or let's stick to QR code scanning. If there will be something that will develop a no Internet needed transferring from one device to another like an offline wallet. It will be a great development.

Considering that Bluetooth is not a safe protocol for sending sensitive information, we're left with QR codes and NFC tags as transfer mediums for Bitcoin transactions. While NFC is a good option for programming Bitcoin transfers, it works in a very close proximity. On the other hand, QR codes work nearly the same way as NFC tags but they cannot be programmed or modified to our heart's content. Bluetooth could've been a great alternative for sending Bitcoin locally at relatively long distances. An encrypted Bluetooth protocol specification would be ideal for sending Bitcoin off-chain to another device quickly and easily. This would work wonders for basic devices that don't have NFC capabilities or even the ability to scan QR codes (like featurephones).

At least, the idea is there. Maybe sometime in the future someone would become interested in reviving this for the benefit of Bitcoin? It's good to have various ways of sending/receiving Bitcoin for true censorship resistance. We now have satellites, mesh networks for offline transactions, and even ham radio waves for sending/receiving Bitcoin. I think this is more than enough for interacting with Bitcoin in a decentralized manner. Just my thoughts Grin

Bluetooth pairing is somewhat old tech when it comes to security standards IMO. It's easy to intercept and easy to hijack. There were quite a few bluetooth-capable wallet that was introduced in the past IIRC, although these projects didn't last given the susceptibility of the incorporated tech to hacks and hijacks. Even with today's bluetooth 5.0, security still isn't a main focus and they really tweaked more on energy utilization and data transfers.

I'd be quite surprised to see whether a Bluetooth-enabled crypto wallet would be recommended by developers. It might be feasible and practical on instant transfers though again, the security is quite scary.

Agree, in my opinion it is already possible since there are already a lot of articles about this but I don't this is recommended since we are using radio waves in Bluetooth if it is a complete version that doesn't have errors I think it is going to work fine. But maybe we could encounter an error because Bluetooth signal can interfere not easily but compare to the internet or other connection for me it is more exposed and maybe you could lose your bitcoin with this.

That's really an amazing idea to just send bitcoin using Bluetooth or any kind of antenna system or even using satellites. I don't know if that's gonna be feasible or not, but if there's any connexion between Bluetooth networks and blockchain then it can happen.

On point. For me as long as it is not yet fully created or recommended we should just stay away in this kind of project since it is still in the process of development.

You correct . Bluetooth has more disadvantages than radio waves when sending bitcoin.
I rather admire transactions that use radio waves as explained here.

Bluetooth as a transaction medium could be useful to grow cryptocurrency adoption because many parts of the world do not have internet access. Cryptocurrencies pretty much require an internet connection in order to use them, so I am thinking that bluetooth can be used as a mesh network for relaying transactions.

Why not, anyway? We already have bluetooth speakers (audio stream relay), bluetooth printers (parallel port relay), webcams which relay video streams, GPS devices (location data) and keyboards. The point I'm trying to make is that all of these devices are sending different types of data to the hardware which does vastly different things. So it makes sense that we use bluetooth wallets or some other yet-to-exist cryptocurrency hardware to relay transactions.

There are off-the-grid mesh messaging apps already around that use bluetooth for this but work best in population-dense areas. A bitcoin relay would need to be more long ranged than this.

All someone would have to do is create a device driver that interacts with a hardware wallet. So bluetooth transactions would in theory go well with hardware wallets.

So all somebody in a rural area with limited internet connectivity would need to use cryptocurrency is a hardware wallet and a smartphone (for the use of bluetooth only), the transaction would be relayed across other phones until it reaches an endpoint that has internet connectivity to transmit the transaction normally. It has the potential of replacing credit cards with the additional advantage that a stolen hardware wallet is useless without the private key.

Granted, all of this requires the Lightning Network be finished first before we can send bitcoins in this fashion.

Maybe it is already possible these days but still it is not recommended due to the safety that is not yet assured when using such kind of medium for transactions. I don't have any idea yet on how you can do it with mobile phones but I will surely start studying how to use it so that I can get convenience someday. We all know how important the internet is for transactions but if ever the system for bluetooth transactions will be fixed, it would be a great help for offline transactions.

I don't think this is possible as of now for bitcoin as it really needs the internet, but maybe another coin could do this and rely on bluetooth so we will just have to wait for the scientists to discover it. It would be efficient as long as it can not be compromised.

Bluetooth is used to send/receive files.Do you think that parts of bitcoin can be transformed into a file?
This is a pretty weird idea,if you ask me.How can sending via bluetooth make the bitcoin transactions faster and more convenient? The receiving user will have to wait for confirmations.
This is complicated stuff,I'm not an expert, but I don't see any benefit in such innovation.

In the new age we are into right now is all about having fast things, fast cars, fast bikes, fast, computers, fast internet connection, and so many more to mention. I guess it is possible that way but using Bluetooth is too old fashioned, also the distance of pairing two devices is very limited compare if you're going to use Wi-Fi.

However, the risk by using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, especially when it's public, is very high, it could always be penetrated by hackers, anytime.

It is not actually possible.
As we all know, Bluetooth is not safe if it will be used in this technology, there is a lot of people that can be detected in a certain area if this will apply to blockchain. Also, there is only a certain range of 10 meters or 33 feet depends on its Class. It won't even reach overseas, that's why it is impossible.

Bluetooth is too limited in range. I've been looking at LoRa, and that looks as if it might be the way forward.

You have a point. This is why bluetooth devices only work when they are close by. Which means bluetooth won't work with my relay idea.

I'm not sure if any computer or phone ships with a LoRa chip in them. Perhaps ad-hoc W-Fi or at least a wireless LAN without routers could be a solution that developers can work on immediately? (If they were to start today.)

Sure but the problem with sending bitcoins over bluetooth connection is that the network can easily be tempered with and bring about loss of funds. I have witnessed several situations where hackers used bluetooth connections in stealing people's data. I believe the use of QR Codes is enough and secured, let's stick with that folks.
security when doing transactions using bluetooth is something that is very doubtful because the security of Bluetooth is vulnerable
it can even be very easy to do snifing on bluetooth so that your funds will not be safe
but doing bitcoin transactions I think is very possible

To be honest, I did not like this idea because it is too risky to send Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general over bluetooth also the viruses are widespread in this technology. The security is one of the important factors that attract the users of crypto , without it your wallet would not be safe anymore.
Plus, it is important to turn the  idea into reality but without creativity there is no usefull technology to community especially in Blockchain domain.
