This is one thing to remember. If the altcoins you are hodling are shitcoins then you should not even think of the possibility that they will moon. Dump them as early as possible. Waiting for them to moon is probably going to take you a lifetime. So make sure first that the altcoins you are hodling are those that will really rally by the time the bulls are coming.

I don't know why altcoin price of movement not too similar such as bitcoin because seems every months it was dominated with downtrend and i think it's normal if you thinking hold altcoin seems not good options anymore and actually several days ago i was so glad when there was some of altcoins has been raise up such as Eth and i was expect more because seems the price can increase more than 4% in a day but seems all of it not according to my hopes because most of altcoin turn to bleeding since yesterday

Just sell them all for a stablecoin, and buy back later. That's the easiest, and you can do it anywhere.
If there isn't a pair with a stablecoin for your particular alt, then sell it for BTC instead and then sell that for a stablecoin.

I would say though that it is a brave move to sell at this time, when evidence is mounting that the tide is starting to turn and things are starting to look more bullish than they have for a while.

Just sell them all for a stablecoin, and buy back later. That's the easiest, and you can do it anywhere.

At least for today, this is a very correct decision to bring your cryptocurrency assets to a stable coin.  I use usdt on the erc20 platform, as I'm used to storing my coins in My ether wallet.  In addition, given the next drop in cryptocurrency prices, this feature allows the user to buy profitable coins again at lower prices.

If you are saying about “holding for how many months” does it mean that in 2nd Quarter and 3rd quarter of 2019 you have keeping that currencies?but by those months Crypto had already pumped and if you purchase your currencies in 2018 or start of  2019 then surely in September 2019 you have a more than double profit?what made you keep on holding?greed?looking for hype like 2017? I also think this is not what I expected anymore but there is a peculiarity from yesterday that this weekend seems to have an upside down surprise because I think this slow movement from some panic trends of traders will not stop to hope and contribute to market although small in trading be patient in take a chance

Most coins are all nothing but shit so yes they will indefinitely fall.  Exchanges and trading houses know this, that's why you cant short every coin because no one wants to take the side of a guaranteed loser.  Ballsy shorting this market right now, it's been in a downward trend for 2 years now, you missed the real money on the way down why would you put yourself at risk for basically pennies on the dollar at this point.

Actually, you made a right decision doing aome short trades at margin trading. While market's situation lately were at bear, we only have three choices;

1. keep holding your coins until pump will occur
2. Buy more cheap coins while these were at low cost
3. Do some margin trading altcoin/usd pairs or it's up to you. Leverage trading is appropriate on these situation.

Yeah the risk outweighs the possible gain at this point.you can easily long some of these alts because there is more upside than downside at this point.  Most alts are 98% or so off their high.  That tells me we are at the bottom "end", can it go lower yeah but at some point people wont even bother opening their wallets let alone sell at these prices.  Good luck to you man

i don't know much about leverage trading but are you willing to switch to margin trading because it will open more options for you out there, websites like binance, poloniex. becareful doing leverage trading or margin trading because you don't what will happen, the coins price might just rise out of nowhere.

That all depends on when you started holding and how long you define long term as. I would be happy if I would have held Bitcoin all of last year and picked up that 100% profit. However, I would have been disappointed if I held all year the year before. If you define long term as 3-5 years, you could easily make good money even if you got in at a bad time.

Holding Alt especially if not in top 10,will be hard to maintain. Been regretting not selling my altcoins before hoping that they will still have chance to increase, apparently they are not. We will be needing a plenty of time to realize that it will be hard for them to bring them back in that amount knowing bitcoin is not pumping. So when there is already a chance to earn from those alts better sell them already.

First of all there is a small number of alt coins that you can short. They usually are in the top 25 or so in the coinmarketcap list. You can't short those small cap coins which are sittin at -99.99% losses from the ATH peak of Q1 2018.

Also you need to be careful shorting. There was an individual that decided to short DASH at around $100 early 2017. The price was basically around $5 the year prior and it had major resistance at $15 that it broke, so he figured it might go to $150 or $200 or $250 max before heading back to $15. And basically he ended up emptying his entire Poloniex account due to the margin call, he got liquidated at like $1000 or so, it was a small leverage short.

So becareful shorting altcoins.
