Will 2020 be ETH's biggest year yet?

As Ethereum forks its way into becoming a full-fledged PoS cryptocurrency, the new year of 2020 is expected to bring a rise of ETH's price across the crypto market. While Bitcoin is still the true indicator of altcoins' prices, Ethereum could experience a short boost in price due to people's excitement of the release of Casper PoS on the ETH blockchain. I have to admit that development has been somewhat slow, but everything has been done in a safe and secure way. Maybe 2020, will be the year Ethereum goes full PoS? Or maybe the dev team will delay the process until further tests are made?

Whatever the case will be, it looks like this year will be ETH's biggest one yet as it's one step closer towards becoming a PoS cryptocurrency. At first, it'll be a hybrid PoW + PoS coin until its ready enough to become a completely PoS coin. Staking Pools will be the hottest trend of 2020, as people who cannot afford the minimum requirement of 32 ETH to become a validator, will simply resort to these services. With a PoS version of the Ethereum blockchain, the competition will be fierce among other competitors such as EOS and Cardano. On the other hand, Ethereum Classic (ETC) will retain its PoW consensus algorithm distancing itself from Ethereum in every way. Maybe ETH miners will flock into ETC once the former does the transition from PoW to PoS?

That, we cannot be certain of right now. But the upgrades and updates that are on the pipeline for Ethereum within the year are great enough, at least as per their designs, to probably steer the price until the 4-digit level. PoS is well anticipated. Sharding is also upcoming. Ethereum will become much faster with the upcoming developments. All eyes are on it.

We hope so, this implementation could have strong impact on Ethereum’s value due to the big change in its ecosystem. Many spectators are watching closely this event, this could also bring Ethereum to next level of their achievement and I really hope it will succeed.

The POS transition has already expected to be done in the next year. it looks like this time will not be a big year for ethereum caused by a lot the complete update will not finish this year.
I just try to take a lot of hardfork will be happening in the upcoming months. That means so many people will try to bet on it. The bull for ethereum may occur but it will not so big as the complete update as people can calculate how much they will earn from the dividend based on the annual yield that will be offering by ethereum in the future.

your expectations don't be too excessive, you will get sick if wrong, indeed ETH 2.0 will be released soon, but the dominance of bitcoin is still high, this is very risky in my opinion

Same expectation that mostly have for Ethereum just like last year. Yes, the devs are pretty slow about the process and being not a dev by ourselves we can't understand how long it would be because we have no idea how they'll development it.

But regardless of that, we just have to let them have their times so that they can work on it fully and they can upgrade it and have its transition without any problem soon. We're all counting that this is going to be one of the best year for ETH and hoping for that it will.

it could have happened if they had started to use the POS system, of course inviting large investors to buy it again getting more rewards from larger POSs, of course also preventing dumper at the beginning of people who hold large amounts of ETH, at least only fish small fish that roam around holding funds a little in the round, ETH 2.0 is meant from this POS concept, I am waiting for them to really finish with their testing and whether it succeeded in getting many people back on ETH

It looks like it. Every evidence points towards that angle, well, majorly fundamentals, can't say much about the technical aspects as I've not been able to look through that angle. But if this fork makes little to no impact on price, or worse, has a negative impact, then ETH may remain undervalued for a longer time, probably till 2023.

That's kind of what they said in 2019 about ETH too if anyone remembers. That that was the year to recover from the ICO problems. If we saw, ETH solved quite a lot of their network issues too, so we should have seen plenty of problems go away but that somehow just never translated into the price of ETH going up. Will this year be different? Probably, but because price is already so low. I don't think price goes up because of new ETH in 2020, since 2.0 only comes true next year!

2 things that make me believe ETH will pumped, bitcoin pump and ETH 2.0. So in this year, which is near of my  prediction or actually what i hope is ETH follow bitcoin to pump. But in case something that i not expected happen to ETH, between ETH and BTC mostly what i hold is BTC.

There is a few things happening this year and if all stars align we might have a good environment setup to produce huge upside moves quickly. All the development going and growing popularity surely lays a nice foundation for the next cycle. Although i am not really sure it will all happen in 2020.. Even if it goes right then it might easily take like 18 months from now until we reach another ATH or something as meaningful. If it's dollar value grows just because whole crypto world gets pumped then we are not gaining much. We need strong position vs BTC and bigger part of total crypto market cap.

Let's hope that ETH gets the attention it deserves by 2020. As long as the Casper PoS upgrade doesn't experience further delays from the dev team, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap will be able to gain massive traction across the crypto market. Otherwise, you can expect ETH's price to stale as people won't have a reason to invest in it. Scalability is a must for decentralized applications to become useful for the mainstream world. In this part, both TRON and EOS are in the lead. Ethereum must quickly switch from PoW to PoS if it wants to stay in the competition. I know that the dev team wants to implement the Casper PoS upgrade in the safest way possible for the ETH blockchain. But most people are tired of waiting for ETH to scale with each delay postponing the smart contract platform's most important hard fork to date.

One thing to keep in mind is that ETH's supply is infinite, whereas Bitcoin's supply is finite. This would greatly undermine ETH's price across the market in the long term. By this year, we could expect a short increase in price if ETH becomes a PoS cryptocurrency. Subsequent years could lead to short term gains, as people become excited about the platform. But the supply is what kills ETH as being a serious investment for the long term, unlike Bitcoin. After all, ETH is meant to be used as "Gas" for the execution and deployment of smart contracts on a global blockchain network.

Nonetheless, 2020 has been off to a great start where Bitcoin soared from $7.5k to just $8.7k in a matter of days. Ethereum has also experienced some gains in price, but not by a large margin. With something new and exciting for ETH this year, you could expect demand to increase like never before across the crypto market. There's high hopes that 2020 might become the biggest year for ETH. With the Bitcoin halving coming up and the new Ethereum update coming out, one would think this should be a huge year for ETH. With ETH being the number 2 coin by far, even if people are mostly just investing in Bitcoin, a lot of that money will find it's way into Ethereum. Especially since news will start coming out about the update. Usually good news coming out about a coin has a tremendous influence on the price. Just look at what has happened with BSV the past few days.

Ethereum 2.0 has just been launched, so it's only natural that there has not been any development for Ethereum, specifically regarding prices. I think it needs a process, until the full PoS is achieved and is felt to be beneficial to all communities and ETH holders.

Indeed there are many important moments that will occur in 2020 and I'm sure not only for ETH, but will have a good impact on the crypto industry.

Eth change to POS is a good move from this project and i think this will make their project become more popular. But base on the price, i dont think that ETH will back to its ATH because too many reasons. First, ETH team not holding the most ETH now. Second, in current market with lots of people losing from downtrend, not much people will buy ETh if the price too high. Third, lots of DApp leave Eth chain to new platform.

Right now Ethereum price is not suitable at all, ETH should have held at least 300-350$, so, by these developments, Ethereum price can rise to there! But without Bitcoin pumps, Ethereum won't cross 350$! So, I can't hope a big year for Ethereum yet, we need bitcoin bull run first which is the real indicator of altcoins rises!

ETH is now widely expected with the release of 2.0 but it has not yet been determined what month the launch will be because there was no announcement about it.
Yes, I also still hold ETH because I am sure that when there is a pumping from halving, ETH will also follow it, let alone this is altcoin number 2, of course there will be many people holding it and there will be more demand in the market.

But I am sure ETH will soon reach the price of $200 in the near future and currently keep moving, what is not possible in this market like yesterday's BSV rose in a short time 3x that means ETH can also be like that and will soon reach $300 because ETH is altcoin number 2 is claimed to hold a lot of it.
Remember Halving will happen in a few months and of course the bullrun will come and there is still time for ETH to rise again as before.

Everybody hopes so. And so far, the year has been showing some signs that this might indeed be Ethereum's biggest year. Not only Ethereum but also of other cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin itself. This early, the bulls are clearly showing the tip of their horns. ATHs of leading top coins might finally be renewed this 2020.
