Alterdot is working towards creating a new web that is built for people and by people, one that is both powerful and liberating by design. We have implemented the BlockchainDNS or BDNS, which is a new Domain Name System built upon the decentralized ledger of Alterdot. We believe everyone has the right to an internet identity that is both affordable and resistant to censorship. This is where the blockchain and IPFS technologies come together in harmony. What makes these two technologies so powerful is their innate peer-to-peer nature which is in contrast to the way we deliver websites today. Alterdot Roadmap

Change of consensus algorithms (Complete)
In January of 2021 we made the switch to the Argon2d16000 Poof-of-Work mining algorithm which highly increases the memory cost and favors CPU miners. A few months later we also changed our difficulty retargeting algorithm to LWMA which proves to be one of the most efficient algorithms of its kind.

Major codebase upgrade (Complete)
Alterdot was previously known as Bitcreds, and before that as Credits. Both of them were built upon older codebases from Dash and Dynamic that today would be outdated. Once Alterdot was launched on the 17th of June 2021 our codebase had been upgraded, bringing us in line with much newer code from Dash.

Beginning of the BlockchainDNS (Complete)
With the launch of Alterdot, the initial version of our BlockchainDNS was released and with it the registration of domains became available. The main use cases we are looking to develop involve tying these domains together with IPFS content identifiers but it is possible to register anything under a domain name.

Deterministic Masternodes (Complete)
One of the most significant changes brought by the upgraded codebase is the Deterministic Masternodes system which stores functional information on-chain rather than individually on each Masternode as was the case with the old system. This change leads to a more secure and predictable system.

Long-Living Masternode Quorums (Complete)
The Masternode network is expanded with a new functionality which implies the formation of quorums or sets of Masternodes that work together towards accomplishing certain tasks. After a quorum has been successfully created, it remains active for several hours or days.

Browser Extension and Website (Complete)
Our browser extension and website represent main facillitators of the Alterdot ecosystem as they include features that enable accessing our decentralized web through blockchain domain name resolution and more.

Insight Explorer and API (In Progress)
The Insight block explorer and API includes several important features that our current main explorer is lacking. Having those features allows for further development and expansion of the Alterdot ecosystem in the area of web applications.

Alterdot IPFS Gateway
The IPFS infrastructure currently available for free on the internet is maintained by numerous organizations. We are going to contribute by maintaining a public gateway ourselves since building on top of a technology also implies becoming part of it.

Activation of ChainLocks
ChainLocks represent a protection mechanism against 51% attacks that makes use of the Masternode network. Quorums of Masternodes start collectively signing past blocks which are then recognized by the rest of the network as secure since they can no longer be reorgnized.

Light Wallet
The browser extension will be further expanded to include light wallet functionalities such as coin transfers and domain name management. In the initial version of the extension these operations are possible only if a full Alterdot wallet is running locally.

Introduction of Alternodes
Alternodes will be introduced as a second tier of Masternodes, having higher specifications. They will be running IPFS clients and they will allow for pinning IPFS content that resides under Alterdot domains. Alternodes will be the building block of our decentralized hosting solution.

Search Engine
A search engine for blockchain domain names will be created in order to easily find and discover Alterdot websites. Coupled with this, we will be looking into the creation a tagging system for websites in order to realize even more efficient queries.

Content Filtering
The content hosted under Alterdot domains has to be resistant to censorship but at the same time, our network should never become a harbor for criminal activities. This is why we will implement a decentralized ticketing system that rewards people for reporting and removing illegal content.

New Desktop Wallet
A new desktop wallet will be created with the capability of running either in full or light mode. Extended functionalities related to accessing and managing Alterdot domains will also be included.

Wrapping Alterdot
In order to give everyone an easy, secure and decentralized means of exchanging Alterdot into any other cryptocurrency or token, we are looking forward to create an easy-to-use tool for wrapping Alterdot on other blockchains such as Ethereum.

All-in-One Application
Facilitating the usage of the Alterdot web can be made easiest by packing together many of our previously created tools and services. This leads to the creation of an all-encompassing application fully integrated with Alterdot and IPFS nodes.

Complete Decentralization
Reaching complete decentralization of the web as we know it implies creating a solution for secure data storage and processing resembling traditional Backend infrastructure through IPFS, Smart Contracts and Alternodes.

Website Templates
One of the main end products that we have planned for the Alterdot ecosystem is an array of customizable templates for decentralized websites ranging from e-commerce to general data administration and more.

We've taken Binance out of our roadmap and just left it 'listing on a large exchange'. TBH we need to build more presence so we can be included at CoinGecko, Coinmarketcap etc.

As of right now we have been accepted for listing at https://altmarkets.io which will help our inclusion on these sites (which already have the Altmarkets exchange);

I agree 100%. For now I see the real application being in used for online payments as that was what the code was designed for. Need to make some changes to make it more appealing for this use-case. Any changes would still have to be voted on and approved by the community, but as I see it the block time of 128 seconds is to high for transactions, and I'd also like to see the transaction fee lowered considerably. If this is the road that we are going to head down then we need to ensure that the coin is ready for use rather then trying to make it fit as it is.

BitCreds version 1.6.0 has been released! This is a compulsory update that includes a hard fork at block 850,000 that will change the masternode collateral from 5,000 BCRS to 50,000 BCRS. The code doesn't enforce MN payments so it is expected that the first few hundred block past block 850,000 will not include any MN rewards as there won't be any MN's enabled at that point.

I understand your concerns/curiosity when it comes to tackling these real world (existential) problems, but do not forget that projects start out from passion. Andrew2k has been with BCRS from the start but he was never in a leadership role making executive decisions, the project has been adrift from the start.

Now that Andrew2k has stepped up we can expect developments with a sense of direction, this is not to say that this project will be a success but it does say that time and effort will be spent. The onus is on him including the entrepreneurial risk that comes with the job. Let's give it some time and see where he leads it.

Hello people, here's some news regarding the project.

Bitcreds will undergo a process of upgrade both visually as well as functionally. As mentioned in the updated thread title we will soon offer as a service the possibility to register IPFS content on our Blockchain Domain Name System (BDNS). This process will imply burning of coins and higher rewards for miners.

The change of our mining algorithm to Argon2d16000 in 4 days will imply an advantage for CPU mining and a period of time when wallet mining should be the norm. The length of this period depends on how fast standalone miners and pools adopt Argon2d16000.

The BDNS is our main focus for the upcoming period. The next next big release, v1.8, will include the BDNS and together with it we will release our browser extension. Due to the recent integration of IPFS into the Brave browser this will streamline the user experience of anyone wishing to get a feel of the decentralized web.

This project has been taken over by community members a while ago and we plan on maintaining this community-involved development process. Stay in touch for more information and rewarded tasks, you can find us on Discord or here.

v1.7.1 is also here with some small updates, it rejects all peers of v1.6.1 and previous versions.

V1.7.1.0 is the right version to use. If you have no nodes it maybe that your node's IP address is banned as myself and others manually banned quite a few older nodes. For further support, please post in the the #support channel of our Discord.

There was a bug in v1.7.2 and after updating to this version the pool ran into some problems so that was the cause most probably. I've just re-released the wallet with a fix so it is now safe to upgrade.

Bitcreds v.1.7.3 Released - Mandatory Update!

The next version of Bitcreds, v1.7.3 is now available for download. This is a mandatory update for all nodes as it is the first stage of our transition to an upgraded codebase from Dash and the starting point of all future things which will be built on top of our blockchain and network.

The Bitcreds network will be reduced to lite mode or core mode after block 1,034,000 through a hard fork in order to start the transition. The Development Fund and Masternodes will not be paid in the reduced state of the network, InstantSend, Mixing and PrivateSend will not work as non-core features are disabled. This lite mode will last only several thousand blocks (it starts on the 14th of June and ends two weeks later). After the hard fork block the difficulty retargeting algorithm will change from DELTA to LWMA (https://github.com/zawy12/difficulty-algorithms/issues/3) and the maximum size of data stored with OP_RETURN will increase from 80 to 160 bytes.

On the 17th of June, the anniversary of our blockchain, the upgraded wallet will be released together with the initial version of BDNS. After block 1,038,000 Masternode and Development Fund payments will resume and all non-core functionalities will be enabled, our browser extension will also be released soon after and our website will be updated together with our whole brand as I mentioned before.

This version restarts Masternodes, InstantSend, Development Fund payments and the Blockchain Domain Name System, old Bitcreds versions do not re-activate them. Alterdot v1.8.0 is one of the main updates in this transition to a better, safer codebase. Masternode owners should upgrade right away, extended instructions will be coming for setup. This is a period of rapid change.

Yes we are planning to list Alterdot on a more popular exchange but have a few things to get through first. As of right now the chain is in 'lite' mode with all masternode and devfund rewards disabled along with PrivateSend and some other wallet functionality. These will be enabled again at block 1,037,000.

The name was specifically chosen to reflect our direction which is BDNS (Blockchain DNS) and IPFS (InterPlanetary File System). There will be more announced about this in the coming weeks but if you have any questioned in the meantime its best to ask your questions in our Discord.

As posted in our #Announcements channel in Discord back in January - "The BDNS is our main focus for the upcoming period. BDNS (Blockchain Domain Name System)

You can now start registering and reserving domain names on the Alterdot blockchain! All you have to do to accomplish this is go to your wallet console and use the command "registerdomain example_name example_content". In this case the domain example_name will point to the text "example_content". You will be able to update it afterwards by using the command "updatedomain" with any IPFS/IPNS hash or text that you want.

The Blockchain Domain Name System can point to any text such as an IP address, an IPFS/IPNS hash, an Alterdot (or any other cryptocurrency) address or any other text. Our use case will focus on the IPFS-Blockchain entanglement but you can build anything you want with it. The names and the text that they point to can contain many types of characters such letters, numbers, dots, dashes, underline, comma and more. The length limits are 80 characters for names and 69 characters for content, in time these limits might grow.

Reserve any domains you might want to use with a cost of 0.2 ADOT by using the command mentioned above. Two important things to note: let your wallets fully synchronize before using the BDNS, and second, your domains will expire after one year. As a disclaimer, keep in mind that this functionality is experimental so bear with us as it gets developed. Problems might come up that could hinder the usage of this functionality. This is one of the main reasons for having such a low price at this initial stage of the BDNS.

In the not too distant future we will be releasing a browser plugin that will integrate with the Alterdot Blockchain DNS.

I've already registered a couple of domains and have put together some ideas (below) on tld's that could be used with this as there are no restrictions on what can be registered unlike other chains.

Important Announcement for Masternode owners

All Masternodes should be updated to the latest version of Alterdot (v1.8.0.1) as well as their sentinels (v1.4.2). Alterdot v1.9.0 Released!
It is mandatory to upgrade before block 1,050,000.

This update brings with it the following updates to our code;

• Many changes ported over from Dash and Bitcoin, our codebase now being in line with Dash v0.14.0.5
• Code for ChainLocks and LLMQ-based InstantSend is added in this version and it remains to be activated at a later time
• Added three Long Living Masternode Quorum (LLMQ) configurations better suited for Alterdot: LLMQ_10_60, LLMQ_20_60 and LLMQ_30_80
• The Alterdot network will switch to using only LLMQ_10_60 at block 1,050,000 therefore triggering a hard fork, the two other configurations will be activated in later versions
• Fixed the synchronization progress bar which wasn't loading in accordance with the downloaded blocks
• Protocol version bumped to 70015. After block 1,050,000 all older versions of Alterdot will be rejected
• Removed unnecessary Dash themes

We have some other important news as well, we are getting listed on the Exbitron exchange (https://www.exbitron.com/) which is created by the people from letshash.it. We have an important update regarding the future change of algorithm such that CPU mining becomes profitable again. We have decided to go for a dual mining algorithm solution so we can keep everyone in the game. The two algorithms will be RandomX, a CPU friendly algorithm developed by Monero, and Argon2d16000, the one we currently have in use.

We have also been discussing about the possibility of freezing rewards (both MN and PoW) at current levels until Alternodes come into play as they will have their own reward which changes things up a bit. With the current scheme, rewards are bound to decrease down to 2/2/2 (MN/PoW/DevFund) in one year from now, but with the latest influx of newcomers we believe keeping rewards a little higher, at 4/4/2, should allow for more growth. Inflation can be used as a tool to attract new people and that is what we have in mind. After analyzing several financial models, this scenario proves to have the most benefits: more rewards, inflation still under 10% per annum, improved liquidity, 20% of new rewards going to the DevFund instead of 33%. This measure will be taken only after we are in agreement with the community so speak up on our Discord server!

This update brings with it the following updates to our code;

• Freezes rewards at current levels (4 to PoW, 4 to MNs, and 2 to DevFund)

The purpose of this change is keeping rewards attractive until Alternodes come to life as they represent a major milestone in our development process. Once that happens, a different reward allocation will be set in place to accommodate the new dynamics of our ecosystem. A hard fork will take place at block 1,131,400, diverging from the old reward structure, so make sure to update all of your nodes as soon as possible!

• on the network, it is possible to use privacy technologies and accelerated (up to 2 seconds) transactions (Mixing and InstantSend);
• the minimum cost of a transaction in the Alterdot network is 0.0001 ADOT;

At the time of writing, the calculator was showing "cosmic income" due to the incorrect setting of the reward for the found block. More accurately, income can be calculated manually, guided by information from the zergpool pool (Current Estimate).

As of 06/22/2022, ADOT mining yields 0.0276 mBTC (0.55 USD) per 1 KH/s (dirty, excluding electricity price), which is not too bad, especially for CPU mining.

Conclusion

Alterdot (ADOT) is new to the world of cryptocurrencies. While she can not boast of a large number of users. Due to its insufficient use as a means of payment and a means of exchange trading, the coin is subject to strong volatility.
