It did happen briefly earlier this year. XRP has sudden big price movements, it has gone into second place a few times and likely it will again. Even now, when it is only just over 50% of ETH marketcap, it is quite possible that a quick surge could pull XRP into second place. XRP suddenly doubling in price is far from unprecedented, and $0.60 would still be a long long way short of its ATH.

Ripple doesn't have many major changes this year and the coin is having a lot of big problems so if you choose this coin as a long-term investment then the risk will come to you anytime. I never liked coins that had a big supply because it would have a lot to do with profit. In fact, Ethereum has more potential for development because it is the only coin with the best development technology in the market and always loved by everyone.

I personally only believe in what is good for the future and Ethereum will probably solve all those problems in our daily lives.

The capabilities is possible since it was done before, whales who knows how to take advantage with the market situations is quite possible to make

This had happened several months before. This is not an impossible thing for XRP to get to position 2. But to get that position is not easy, because it must defeat Ethereum which is already very popular. Especially if we look at the daily trading volume is very much different.

XRP has been number 2 in cap a few times, they have a great use case and I don't see why they can't hit number 2 again. I agree that ETH looks underpriced, but so does XRP, and XRP history shows it can have those sudden huge price surges in a way that ETH cannot.

I don't think they can recover that second spot, they might be in trouble with Bitcoin Cash, they are gaining a lot of support, maybe in two years time, BCH might overtake them.

BCH is a pointless shitcoin money-grabbing fork. But yes the price is still holding up quite well. Long-term I'm not sure about this coin, I can't see any use case nor any reason beyond speculation why it should stay above $0.
