Basing the success of any altcoin on whether or not it will be used by Walmart as a currency is to say the least, narrow minded.

I know it's taken a while, but Trollcoin is getting CLOSE to becoming a serious coin, here's why:

everyone on BCT thinks it's either a scam, shit, or dead coin. It's far from any.

- We just got hooked up with a Facebook Trollcoin Tipping app for our Facebook group, check it out:
http://facebook.com/groups/trollcoin

- We're listed on c-cex.com  (yeah buy orders get eaten up by the big sell wall at 1 satoshi, but people are slowly beginning to buy.)

- we're listed on http://www.cryptocoinrank.com/Trollcoin

- you can vote for trollcoin to get listed on cryptsy  http://cryptsy.com/coinvotes

- Just rebranded our logo, its fucking hott!!!, doge can go take a crap on itself (check the official thread)

- We're handing out Trollcoin giftcards in several locations in the US including Los Angeles & New York

- We have an online wallet (i use it for loading gift cards & transacting on my smartphone)  wallet.trollcoinbase.com

- A Reddit tipbot  http://www.reddit.com/r/TipaTrollWiki/

- A Twitch.tv prescence & LEGIT, ORGANIZED & ONGOING distribution to all twitch.tv users at twitch.tv/trollcoin

- A growing presence on Twitter with regular giveaways, trivia & promotions  http://twitter.com/trollcoinbase

- official website http://www.trollcoinbase.com

- block explorer explorer.trollcoinbase.com:2750

- a facebook game app using trollcoin is planned & in early development stages, but I can't make it official yet.

- a dedicated team of developers who have not & will not stop supporting, mining & developing trollcoin just because; hash is low, no one is paying attention, blah blah.

Anyway, just my two cents...
We're having fun, trolling, mining, using pranking & hoarding our precious trolls

TROLLCOIN
"It pays to Troll"

This is only a short term novelty that will meet its demise.

Nobody who is serious or a serious investor, or a legitimate business is ever going to accept/trade in "troll coin".

Imagine...your favorite national chain store "TROLLCOIN WELCOME!"

Never gonna happen, sorry  Grin

I read through this whole thread and while maybe 3 are worthy contenders, the rest just reek "I'm a 19 year old code phreak livin in my mamma's basement" operations. Just because you might have the coding skills TO create your own crypto, it doesn't mean you should. If what you create wouldn't be accepted, traded, or invested in by Fortune 500 companies, corporations, or billionaires as a measure of moving and preserving wealth - as your litmus test to whether or not what you're doing would actually work - then you're going to be wasting your time.

Put your skills to better use and sell the shovels and picks to the miners. Focus on the infrastructure, not trying to change the wheel.

add Darkcoin.

I hope you bought when you suggested this....

I got lucky.. ish and bought it at 60 cents.. alas only $15 worth.. I swore I put $100 on.. O well $15 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 0, that's for sure.  Sold half for about $200, Cheesy.

I've done okay with day trading, probably even.

Lost all I put into, Fastcoin, Casinocoin, Americancoin and Pheonixcoin, (prolly 100 each)

Made huge bang on Darkcoin and Sexcoin.

BitShares should be up there. People disregarded them as empty promises, and now look, BitShares X is already released (by DACsunlimited), working excellently with 10sec blocktimes and 10tps transaction load, it has on-chain name registration and automated stealth addresses for complete anonymity. It even has encrypted messaging that you can include in every transaction. They are launching market-pegged assets like bitUSD (no centralized price feed) soon.

Booming Chinese community, the most active out of all the forums besides bitcointalk.org, soon to implement a major marketing strategy.. BitShares Toolkit is open source and allows anyone to launch their own DACs.. Compare the platforms.

BitShares DNS and BitShares Vote soon to be launched..

I am definitely taking PTS seriously. I am actually very surprised at how little the price is up with the snapshots less than 10 days out now. It has meant that I have acquired a stake very reasonably though. If even one of the new DACS is successful then I will do well. If both of the August 21st snapshot DACS do well then I will really be celebrating.

Aka coins you are holding. Coins to take seriously are coins you have researched, trust the development team, and realize that they are in for the long term of the coin, not it's value.

I'll also chime in for BitShares.  When I first heard about 'Protoshares' - I was skeptical.  However, I've been researching and following this development for the past 10 months, daily; and am completely blown away.  This platform is the bitcoin killer, and I don't say that lightly.  Think of any problem any other crypto has, and I'd challenge you to find out if its not solved through the BitShares platform.

The 3 MAJOR issues I believe BitShares has solved are:
  • Transaction times - 10 seconds. On the dot. No more of this 10 minute confirmation [ON AVERAGE!] B.S.
  • More decentralized than bitcoin by orders of magnitude - there are what, 5 mining pools?  BitShares secures the network through DPOS (delegated proof of stake), through 101 delegates that are elected.  You choose the good guys, the bad actors simply cannot sustain their efforts. [also a hat tip to the US founding fathers...1776]
  • Volatility - With the coming advent of user-pegged asset markets; one can store their value, cryptographically, in an asset that has relatively low volatility in comparison to bitcoin (i.e. the US Dollar - this will be 'bitUSD')

BitShares is your 'savings' to your bitcoin 'checking' and MUCH MUCH more.  I cannot say enough good things about the core team and their efforts as well.  Good people doing it for the right reasons, not hiding behind pseudonyms, because they don't need to.

Further:
- inherently anonymous transactions on REGISTERED account names instead of ugly addresses
- atomic cross chain trading
- user assets and market pegged assets
- open source toolkit which already allows easy-to-setup altshares
- have I mentioned dividends getting payed to shareholders?

Oh man, this platform has that much awesome features it's impossible to see all the possible outcomes of that scheme .. just read the white paper of bitshares VOTE and you will see what I mean!!

I agree. I find myself everyday selling some of my other positions to buy more into the Bitshares system.

alright, I am kinda on the forum, but I have been around.

Have you guys thought about what makes a coin that 'should be in exchanges'?
I just thought about that, and realize some coins are to be taken seriously, while Most arent.

to be, the list looks like this:

...

The Mid Bosses: Where they are is hard-earned, don't expect too much more. (for now)

Dogecoin

I don't think dogecoin belongs on your 'mid-bosses' list.  This coin was obviously a fad coin that had more to do with the funny meme than cryptocurrency.  It's just dying a very slow death because so many folks got on board so quickly and they're hesitant to abandon ship.
