alright, I am kinda on the forum, but I have been around.

Have you guys thought about what makes a coin that 'should be in exchanges'?
I just thought about that, and realize some coins are to be taken seriously, while Most arent.

to be, the list looks like this:

The Boss: Where he goes, we follow.
Bitcoin

The Mid Bosses: Where they are is hard-earned, don't expect too much more. (for now)
Litecoin
Dogecoin
Peercoin
Namecoin

The Try Hards: Potentials for outbreak. Depends on market's outlook.
Worldcoin
Darkcoin  <-- new add
Feathercoin

Removed:
Megacoin removed. I learned they borrowed the brand of Mega, and has nothing to do with the corp.
Quark removed. I learned they were instamined from multiple source, and lost credibility through denials despite obvious evidence.

I cannot take Ripple seriously, I mean who does.
Same with Primecoin, which I see extremely limited development, it is really there just because.
Mastercoin/NZT I also cannot take seriously, same as ripple.

While Aurora and Spain.. well, too soon?
SpainCoin doesn't even look legit to me, does it to anyone?

InfiniteCoin and Novacoin... well, it has a trading volume of a tea-spoon.
I think these two will disappear completely soon.
Bitshares (protoshares), this one has always been iffy to me.

Do you guys ingeneral agree with me?

here's to support my claim about bitshares:
http://www.btc38.com/altcoin/pts/1009.html

Here the chinese is basically reporting scams relating to that crypto.
that seems to be on going development, so I really don't think it is time to trust it yet.

Ok, so I’m relative new to all of this. So in the spirit of gaining acumen of crypto currencies, what metrics should I judge individual coins to to determine their relative merit? This is a very exciting, yet somewhat baffling technology-
A simple list of traits and what benefit those traits provide would be great!
Thnx

Hi there!

I'm not going to directly answer your question, but have something else to say.

The MOST important thing in this forum sub-section is to be aware of people that seem uninterested and unbiased, but promote you crap with an agenda. That agenda is to dump their coin on you and leaving you holding the bag of air, and get real world money out of it. That real world money is Bitcoin. With high-minded arguments, distractions, hopes and dreams. Those can be coin holders, IPO promoters, all sorts of shills, scammers etc... There's a complete gamut here, from serious people that just once in a while play this zero-sum game and I have no morals to criticize, to deep down the bottom.

There _are_ coins with future and generally the OP of this thread is correct in my view. I'm talking about other threads, posts, forums, etc...

Now, for speculation, day trading and making a profit, the rules are entirely different. There are great opportunities out there, I'm sure, but I have no experience and worthy advice to give on this.

Anoncoin is a good coin

I agree, if it ends up doing what it claims.

Syscoin has the best of Bitcoin and Ethereum in one place, it's merge mined with Bitcoin so it is plugged into Bitcoin's ecosystem and takes full advantage of it's POW while rewarding Bitcoin miners with Syscoin
