I have a few questions regarding running a Bitcoin gambling website online.

I am located in Canada. So I'm not sure if it's legal for me run a site like this online from within Canada.

If it is legal for me to host the site else where, where is it possible for me to host it and do I need to get it licensed or it's okay to operate without a license since it's crypto.

I advise you to search a lawyer specialised in this matter instead of following any advice you get on an online forum.

I do know in a lot of jurisdictions it's NOT ok to run a crypto casino since it's *just* crypto

don't think it would be good or even allowed to start one based in Canada... but there are several ways to launch a crypto casino even when you are based in canada. I am always open for chat if you want to

It would be better if you will ask the business permit and licensing office in your country if it will be good to start a online gambling through the use of Cryptocurrency, because although it is an online gambling I can say that it is also a business so maybe the department of business and affairs are the one you need to contact first in order for you to know what would be the need to start a online gambling website, or even try to catch-up a question with a lawyer if it is possible to set up an online gambling with the influence of crypto in your country.

In Canada I don’t think is permitted for you to run a crypto gambling website.Trying to find a way around, even a legal one may give you other problems so the best thing to do is to consult a lawyer dealing mostly with online businesses, someone who have a lot of previos experience in this matter will surely tell you the best path to follow for your situation.

Crypto gambling site or businesses in Canada isnt really restricted so high chances that you would able to make one but of course you do abide your governments terms.

restricted or not ?  im now confuse because others above said that it was restricted while you here said that it isnt . afaik i think ive heard before that gambling was restricted ln some country and canada was one of them but i still see some canadian players on some gambling sites that i use.  idk if they are only canadian but has moved around on different place or they only use a vpn to access the site .  a gambling site can run without certificate but its obviously better to have one

Seems like gambling activities were restricted on your country but I don't think you need to move to other countries to host a gambling sites related to crypto, you can do that online via countries which supports cryptos and gambling.

You need to register your business. You are making profits here so you need to be legalized even you are operating in crypto. But if you are brave enough to avoid the regulations, then risks it since you are just a small site for now. But when you noticed that there is an increase of players, you need to make things legally.

Second, it's not just about legality but you must also provide your bankroll details via showing your signed address with funds.

Many people can run an anonymous online casino but I will suggest you to register that with your state as I have heard that Canada allow the casinos and try to get any license for online casino and show your identity on you casino if people will know these securities on your casino then they will trust on your casino and will like to gamble on your casino> That way you will not need to spend much amount on advertisement but still a main focus on advertisement is very important.

There are projects in crypto like the EarnBet which they got a license to operate online from egaming curacao. I suppose its just what is needed to run a gambling website and maybe the hosting to be offshore location.  I'm not sure if it matters whether you are from Canada or anywhere as long as you got the license but I could be wrong I haven't run a gambling site myself.

A license is important for running a gambling site because in the past I heard that many people asking for it from the casinos with which people want to trust on them. You can also see that many casinos have licenses which are now the bigger online casinos and those which do not have any license from any authority are just the dead casinos.

It has been stated in the first reply that it is better if you hire a lawyer. Because they know much better about jurisdictions in every country and I think country of Canada allows us to register a gambling business. It is good if your gambling site was fully registered and you dont have encountered possible problems. The most place that good to have a license are Curacao and Costa Rica.
Nevertheless, I provide here a list of Jurisdictions with Gambling Licenses.

So long as you never interact with fiat currencies, it's legal to own and operate an online gambling website in almost all countries.

With that said, you'll probably want to set up outside Canada, somewhere like Malta, Bermuda or Antigua, since these tend to be common starting points for most casinos.

Alternatively, take a look at the platforms that are similar to what you want to build, then check where they were founded and where their servers are currently hosted.

You can use the following website for this purpose: https://who.is

Before you consult a lawyer you can also do some research online, It can save some fund if you already know. Except the rule had change gambling is only allowed locally in Canada but online gambling have stricter rule, meant to protect the citizens. There are some illegally gambling site but citizen are advised to stay-off such site and site recommendation are made online for interested gamblers

I'm not that familiar with e-gambling laws in Canada but generally if you want to run a casino online you must need a e-gaming license for it for which I don't know where you will begin with. Other option is of course moving up internationally and get your license there since majority of the countries (except USA) allows their citizens to online gambling sites that are still licensed. One of the preferred choices of online gambling sites is the country of Curacao as they have one of the most easiest yet most recognized licenses out there. So maybe if moving to another country isn't a problem you still have that option and you can still make Canadians as your main target.

There are so many resources online that could help you such as this; https://www.gamblinginsider.ca/legal-online-casinos/ but still, I agree with what the other user stated above. Get a lawyer in your state to help you handle this to avoid any future issues. The lawyer should also help you out on getting a licence. At least, if not for anything, having a licence guaranty trust from users.
