I have a few questions regarding running a Bitcoin gambling website online.

I am located in Canada. So I'm not sure if it's legal for me run a site like this online from within Canada.

If it is legal for me to host the site else where, where is it possible for me to host it and do I need to get it licensed or it's okay to operate without a license since it's crypto.

I advise you to search a lawyer specialised in this matter instead of following any advice you get on an online forum.

I do know in a lot of jurisdictions it's NOT ok to run a crypto casino since it's *just* crypto
This is the reason OP asked just to know and you as a forum member already offered him a bit of a solution and other replies after yours have given him answers.

There are lot of gambling sites owner on here though but it's better you do proper research online before consulting a lawyer.

Don't be complacent. Don't run an online casino without permits, even you are running on cryptocurrencies. Seek advice from local personalities available that are knowledgeable of the risks and pre-requisites of running one in your local state. Also, don't rush things, and make testings to make sure your casino won't be abused and bankrupted by some strategies.
You hit the point.
Most upcoming casino are always good in rushing things. Some don't even wait to test things within their website before giving it out to users. At the end, the site becomes easy to hackers. OP, try not to use already made script but one that has is built from a scratch.

For creating a website still, we need to have a lot of things like the paper for legalizing your site because there is money involved. There is a process they need to approve of making sure the security of the users and a lot of verifications that are not against to the user also you need to find a domain that you need to buy or to rent too because we cannot run your platform if you does not have a domain supports your website link. Also having a gambling website or making online gambling is a good idea too because today there are a lot of people does not have any time to went to their favorite gambling houses and also it is more efficient to us because while having some rest we can play now gambling games into our leisure time.

Consulting into a lawyer too is one of a good idea because we will identify if there is a rule applied for having an online gambling website and also to know what do we need for having a website.

because they know how much money they can gain having a casino but what they don't know is the obligation and the hardwork needs before a casino becomes popular and start to gain players.
they don't even give a damn on what are the policies and the legalities but what they want is instant money that is why there are many Gambling sites that fails, even close for a short time of operation.

Tricks doesnt work if we do talk on a fully operational casino site and it is free from bugs or whatsoever. No one beats the house on any way
unless if theres exploit which can be abused on then thats an another story.
And that was my point, if the casino is free from any bugs then you cannot beat the casino we all know that, but we also know there are hackers out there that specialize themselves in finding vulnerabilities and bugs on websites and one of their main targets are casinos since they know that if they find a vulnerability in them they could manipulate the results and make a lot of money in a  short amount of time and most likely a new casino owner does not have the experience, money and the time needed to prevent this.

It seems people who are not having any knowledge about gambling also want to start a gambling business like they must be at least know whether gambling business is legal or not within their country jurisdictions. I just wonder if these kinds of people somehow managed to start a gambling and how they will manage? This could be the reason why we are seeing many business are getting bankrupted over the time. Inexperienced people are getting greedy on non-familiar things: the core reason.

If I were the OP, I should not have started such this topic because finding some basics of starting a gambling business does not require a discussion here but referring some legal persons locally will get me all the answers.

And most of all, ensure that your business has its appropriate permits. That way, we can ensure that you are5 breaking any local or international laws if worse comes to worse. Get a lawyer, ask them if you can put up a website like that for gamblers. Surely the money you'd spend on a trustworthy lawyer puts up with the legalities that you'd be getting at least. If there are no benefits whatsoever. What I'm saying is, it's better to pay for taxes to be operating fine and dandy instead of getting your business shut down over an overlooked law. That's gonna save you all the time and the trouble in the long run.

That's all the tips I can share for now. Hope you got something from it.

Paying up taxes should really be your main priority even though gambling business doesnt still need any permits or laws that needs to be complied.
When the time comes that they would sue you out specially if your business runs for years, you do still have the things for you to show and as said
this will really avoid things or problems in future year to come yet we know that laws will be altered nor be changed in matter of time. For now
the best thing can be done is to ask for professional advice rather than seeking for some answers to this forum.Advices were good though as i have
back read.

Knowing the requirements are important because for you to have protection, you also required to pay taxes because of the law. Anyway, online gambling site is a good business but the capital required is too high and you need good management skill for you to able to grow thr gambling site that you will made. Learn more from the persons who have specialize skills about laws in order for you to have an idea about the requirements in order to start onlinr gambling site.

I think talking to a lawyer could really help you. Here in our country, Philippines, as far as I know, online gambking is restricted. Owning one here in our country is an illegal act so better put an exemption to our country. Other countries would be good though, as long as you talk to a lawyer.
Yes they need to consult to the lawyer to know the law to their country if they be able to create a gambling website but Im pretty much sure lawyer wants to have permit but lawyer know how his gambling site will become legit. Im from Philippines too and creating gambling here in my country needs permit or license feom the government before you operate because possible for the founders to banned if they notice that you operate without any permit I think licenses is not big so you can apply if you want.

Does that mean I could create one as long as I have the permission of the government? I thought that the government already ban making one here in our country, that is good since I am so scared for months now and I am still using VPN to access some gambling sites.

Edit: I've seen this site when I searched about this, to my fellow Filipinos, you could look at this site about these sites. https://www.legalonlinecasinos.ph/reviews/

It would be better if you will ask the business permit and licensing office in your country if it will be good to start a online gambling through the use of Cryptocurrency, because although it is an online gambling I can say that it is also a business so maybe the department of business and affairs are the one you need to contact first in order for you to know what would be the need to start a online gambling website, or even try to catch-up a question with a lawyer if it is possible to set up an online gambling with the influence of crypto in your country.

Maybe, it is allowable because if they so, you'll be an another source of taxes for them. If it is legal then you need to pay a certain percentage of the taxes on your country. That's the only way they will benefit to your business, and you really need to deal with it if you want to start online gambling with cryptocurrency. But in some country, the government doesn't allow people to enter the world of cryptocurrency. So it is very rare for a country to allow you start an online gambling business. Try to contact first the authority so that you'll not have any conflict or problems when you want to run an online gambling site. Nevertheless, you can also help the promotion of a cryptocurrency to your community.

Well it is because they wanted to make profits, they wanted to ride the hype, they wanted to be like the popular gambling sites, but they are making a mistake, they are rushing, just like what you've said. They wanted to take the shortcut because they are jealous of other big gambling sites when it comes to their daily bankroll. Just so you know people, running a gambling site, or making one is not that easy, if you want to build a strong foundation to run it for a long time, you also need your time to make it superb.

The bigger the fund, the better, because you could assure yourself that you have enough security and team that will helps you to run it properly in everyday basis.

I advise you to search a lawyer specialised in this matter instead of following any advice you get on an online forum.

I do know in a lot of jurisdictions it's NOT ok to run a crypto casino since it's *just* crypto
According to Gambling Insider Canada, it is illegal for online Casinos to operate within Canada; however, it is perfectly legal for local players to enjoy gambling at any site that is located offshore. Despite of the gambling site to be affiliated with a decentralized currency, I am not sure whether it would be allowed by the local government in order to just be sure and be safe from jurisdiction or charges perhaps. Might want to consult agencies maybe, or people responsible with permits of businesses. Also, do not plan to start a business without license because that would be for the good of your business for a long run. There are existing gambling sites without license but still, it is not advisable.

Asking will never be wrong in any form. OP is referring to a crypto-based online gambling site, and this forum is still related to topics with regards to cryptocurrencies, so I don't think there is something wrong from asking such thing.
But it is really a must to be knowledgeable on the business one is planning to start or create. There are risks involved and initial knowledge would be a huge help. It won't be advisable to start something without having any information about it because it would only result to wasted money as well as time.

I think OP just wants to gain some insight opinion of the forum members since we have a lot of gambling owners here and some gambling developers.
OP might have consider about asking a lawyer before even posting in this forum so let's not be harsh besides,
We should also support the dream of other person not drag them down by insulting them.

If crypto gambling is prohibited in your country then it is not okay to run one of it and you will never get permission to run one of them.I remember China influenced some countries to stop involving in gambling activities because people from their country move away here and run gambling business since its completely prohibited there.

With crypto, it's possible for you to run different kinds of ventures without it being immediately obvious to the authorities. Ross Ulbricht is a major example... He was running the Silk Road marketplace and was caught working on it in a public library.

The issue is, without a licence, it'd be hard to cash out on the earned BTC as most territories don't permit the authorized running of gambling websites. So unless a form of money laundering was involved, it's be hard to enjoy the earned wealth.

In almost all countries where BTC is legalised, tax needs to be declared this is irrespective of your earnings. So say, even if you got a way running a casino without a license then you'll still get in trouble when cashing out even if you don't declare it as the amount you'll be dealing will be of a high volume which will flag the authorities anyways. So the bottom line is that you do need a license to operate the casino, otherwise you will run into trouble.

^ Definitely right, running the Bitcoin gambling website without a license will make your business stop operation once it was caught by the authority. I may suggest is hire a lawyer, because when it comes to jurisdictions in which country they are more knowledgable than us. Spend the little amount of money for the license to avoid the possible problem in the future,

I don't think that tax needs to be declared if it's the result of gambling.

A lot of countries don't tax gambling profits, otherwise that would also mean that they need to give tax relief to people who suffer from losses due to gambling.

Since more people lose than win, that would result in a net negative affect on the economy, while people could also funnel all their profits into a casino to offset any tax at all.

Overall, casinos also operate on the same schedule. They are gambling too, albeit with the edge. Because of this, I actually think casinos might be tax free too.

Definitely need to look into this. Can anybody confirm or deny this?

You got that wrong. Directly from IRS's website:

Quote
Gambling winnings are fully taxable and you must report the income on your tax return.
https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc419

What made you think they would let you get away with your gambling profits I wonder though. Did you think gambling is some kind of charity-like income the government won't touch?  Cool

Might be different for other countries but I don't really think so.
