I'm not surprised Ripple is on that list, but I continue to be surprised that people own so much of it.  It's probably the worst one IMO out of all those coins.

Tron kind of surprised me, since I didn't think it was all that popular and I'm not sure what it's being used for aside from speculation. 

As far as the analysis in the article goes, it's not really offering any great insights since all of the coins in the charts represent the top ones on coinmarketcap anyway.  The fact that their market caps are large gives at least some indication that they're all popular and that people own them, and you could have surmised that just by looking at the top 10 on CMC.

I was recently asked the question "what are the most popular cryptocurrencies for investors?" This led me to take some time to investigate what assets were the most popular on our portfolio management application.

Lol, you were investigating the most popular cryptocurrency? You must be kidding me. Who even knows about altcoins, unless you mean the most popular altcoin? Even if it’s about the most popular altcoin everyone already knows that Ethereum is the most popular altcoin.

But, as for the most popular cryptocurrency, that is Bitcoin. When it comes to usage you will notice that Bitcoin is widely accepted. If you check online stores they are mainly accepting Bitcoin and none of them accepts altcoin. I have only seen a few that’s accepting Ethereum.

In case of investing in short term basis there will be no specific coin, just like you said binance platform or any trading site will do but in terms of long term I would highly suggest the big three (for me) which is Bitcoin, Etherum and Ripple. Those three coin are the best coin to invest when you want to consider it for a long term basis. I highly suggest that short term and long term investing will be perform if you really want to get the greatest kind of investing strategy.

I have been really disappointed by how ethereum has been flat for sometime now. I had big expectations from a few coins among which one of them was Clam coin, which I don't know if anyone even knows about it now. I had big expectations on Ethereum but while Eth hasn't gone down too much, I don't see a reason of the rise either. the ICOs being built on it was a bubble which now has pretty much settled down.

As for me, I also trust the two but I start adding more coins in my portfolio so I could  also benefit on the success of others as in the long run it would not only be BTC and ETH that will dominate in the market, other coins also have a chance to rise especially BNB or Binance coin which is so profitable to invest.

Well, BNB is only Binance limited, I mean it's just to cover the trading fees and while it's pretty solid and won't go down I am quite sure but at the same time I see no reason why BNB will go up too much but yeah it's one coin to keep an eye on.

This still doesn't erase the fact that bitcoin is the most prominent cryptocurrency most investors choose from. It cemented itself in the cryptocurrency world, it has a high profitability rate, and it has huge spikes/forks. Making it one of if not the most profitable cryptocurrency there is on the market. Even most of the altcoins in the market are dependent in one way or another to bitcoin's price. If it dumps, they dump too. If it spikes, they spike too. So it is just natural for people to choose the "best" cryotocurrency out there. Without a doubt.

Aside from that, the halving's coming up on may, people are expecting bitcoin's price to spike drastically, if not reach an all-time-high. All the more reasons for them to choose bitcoin over other cryptos.

Bitcoin is that the hottest cryptocurrency for investors I accept as true with you  it's a really popular currency and reliable. But I prefer investing in Ethereum the foremost  there's no capital to take a position in Bitcoin but I can hopefully get BTC upfront.
