2 days ago, I held a bitcoin seminar (or you could call it a meeting) and it wasn't easy. However, it was possible. You can see that on the last topic started by me. Majority of us here on the bitcointalk forum have the opportunity of holding meetings like this but don't know how to go about it. It's not like I'm a pro in holding stuffs like this. It was my first time and surely won't be my last.
About two of the comments on the thread asked me to tell more about how the meeting was held (for the same of those who want to hold such meeting too). Here we go:
Most people due to the human nature believe that when you being such information to them, you have something to gain. Considering this, we had to clearly and repetitively inform those who attended the meeting that we have nothing to gain by holding the meeting (bitcoin was the one gaining).
Firstly, you should start by telling them that cryptocurrency is a type of currency like dollars, etc. But can't be seen or held because it is digital. In my own case, I used the data subscription (MB) to describe how it can be used even tho it can't be seen. Then, I proceeded by telling them the oldest cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) and it's a superficial facet of it's history. Afterwards, I told them that there are other cryptocurrencies too and that the oldest bitcoin platform is the bitcointalk. org platform. I explained how how fiat can't be changed to bitcoin and how bitcoin can be changed to fiat. And then, the most important part; the advantages and disadvantages of bitcoin (and cryptocurrency as a whole). I was elaborate. I gave them the space to ask both silly and meaningful questions. And after all, they understood. I knew that some questions would later arise so we had to create a group on WhatsApp to keep us all connected. (You can use any platform.... I just decided to use WhatsApp)
So, I believe that with the guide above, anyone of us can hold a meeting too. It's no big deal. Tho it's not easy (especially when you aren't compensated by anyone). Also It mustn't be your friends. It could be anyone (your relative, etc).
For instance, let's say your uncle is about to fly out of the country, you could simply call his attention, ask him how he'll get his cash when he gets to his destination. After he must have talked about how the banks would do that, you introduce bitcoin to him. Telling him how he can be the manager of his money and how he can travel with any amount of money in his bitcoin wallet.
Summarily, there are many ways we can do this, we just have to look closely because even the tiniest bit matters.

There are people like you who have the courage and passion for organizing meetings and events like this. And there are those people too that probably are sick and tired of doing it because the location they prefer to held the meeting has very few attendees and most are not open to this idea even if you'll tell them it's for free.

Or probably few individuals who are really shy and doesn't have the courage to speak out or face lots of people around. I haven't organised any meet ups, but in the last 3 weeks or two, I meet two people already who are interested on what I'm preaching - bitcoin. Just last night I had like a 30 minute conversation with a guy who invested on bitcoin but he has a lot of questions, maybe just maybe if I had the courage I could have a simply meet up in my place and answers some questions the best I can.

Yes, I agree with you. However, making it free gives you more chance for them to pay attention. On the other hand, telling them to pay would make it seem like all your interest and need is their money.

Once the day comes, look at those people like they're your family, friend, co-workers, etc. Free you thoughts. Don't fake answer; tell them the part you know and let them do their research too.

On the other hand, telling them to pay would make it seem like all your interest and need is their money. It's the first impression of the people today. When there's an activity and seminars like this and you're asking for an entrance fee, expect that everyone is thinking about that. But if you're making a seminar like this and it's all for free with foods during or after the meeting, the next time that you'll announce that there's another event, they'll come and multiply because they'll tell their friends to attend.

In fact, it was really hard to just basically conduct seminars without compensation or some funds that we could obtain, in the first place, even if our intention was to educate people, we need to spend our time that we should allot in doing jobs to earn profit but it turns out to be for seminar or meeting to help other people to learn. In addition, someone should first become well knowledgeable about the mechanism of cryptocurrency and blockchain to be able to discuss it to others. Furthermore, we have other options to conduct seminars and to teach people if we really aim for greater market adoption. Video group chat is one possible idea, but to consider the quality of the video, it might not be the best. Some people take youtube platform as their mode of educating others about cryptocurrency and at the same time, it helps us to gain fund in return.

In summary, talk like in a normal conversation. This would make it more understandable to those who still doesn't know about their existence. This would effectively introduce them the power of financial freedom through limitless transactions not bound to any geopolitical restrictions.
Though I quite disagree on the part where you said 'he can travel the world without worrying about money'. Remember that services are still mostly available on fiat, and fiat-crypto conversions are volatile.

If I were you, I used to be assigned by my former boss to explain bitcoin daily. It was an easy to medium level task for me. But what I have realized is that, if someone is really interested they would learn something by seeking attention to details people tell them about what they want to learn.
What I mean is, it is really possible to hold a meet regarding anything related to cryptocurrency. It's just that it is best not to teach cryptocurrency topics with people who have at least 1% interest in it. It's like teaching an engineer how to do a medical operation. It doesn't make sense at all.
Just my two sats.

Well people like you are such that like talks; compare to me in person. Facing the public for explanations mean much to me than passing the message through writing. Although, I have been at the front end doing what I know how to do best but, standing with crowd makes me feel shy. practically, I can write articles, I mean comprehensive one at that but, don't have enough courage to face the crowd.
Had one's or twice engaged with friends and colleagues in an open debate about Bitcoin and it's technology, they weren't ready to learn from me rather they thought I was a joker, latter they came back to read my articles from my blog. Never you force them to agree with your opinion, they will come to the lime light when time come.

What were their thoughts when you told them that Bitcoin is unstable in price? These seminars are part of my plans in the future whenever adoption happens already and I expect that these types of meetings just around the plaza at my city to pop out of nowhere.
Well, they didn't give much of a negative reaction. All their mind is that they want to try it out. This doesn't mean they don't know how the negative side could be. They have been told.

Seminars are a great opportunity to tell people about bitcoin. Answer the questions they hesitate to ask in everyday life. I hope there will be more such events this year.

In quoting me, you were actually wrong. I didn't say 'he can travel the world without worrying about money'.... Maybe you should go through that line again. However, I'm grateful for your contribution. 😉

Bitcoin and crypto need people like you for its further development. I appreciate everyone’s effort to develop this market. The process is very simple as you have already described, I would just add a little please be generous and true with yourself and with other feelings also. Tell people what are the benefits crypto offer them, what are the advantages of Bitcoin trading, how Bitcoin is leading the crypto market and your personal experience of using Bitcoin. Beside advantages, do tell people about the risk it offer, how to deal with them, what are the effective strategies etc.
