Most of the scam because of Ponzi & Fake ICO.

Scammers are stupid. Only victims are more stupid than scammers or very greedy and can not control their actions. At the ends, they get scammed.

Not everyone have the same knowledge & experience with other people, and everyone not always coming on bitcointalk.org before they know about the cryptocurrency or bitcoin. They started visiting google finding new article, the capability went they learning also not same everyone can learn fast & understand the other people can slowly to learning & understand so they need to make sure with someone who have more knowledge with him.

For example like me, if you want to see my profile i have some gap activity went i register to bitcointalk forum. With the gap around 9 months, it that times i learning cryptocurrency and other relating topics about bitcoin with my group telegram went we looking mined altcoin. Then went i comeback to bitcointalk i already have basic knowledge about trading, investment & scam attempt for some project/platform.

There is no reason why new generations have to loose in the same way others did already. As a whole community that sharing knowledge is possible!!

The purpose of this forum have grown over time and things like this should have been a thing of the past if only the new generation are willing to learn form the experience of the earlier enthusiast but that's hardly the case. For example when the IEO FOMO became a trending Investing choice, users that lost massively due to ICO, issued warnings in their numbers but hardly did any new investors wanting to make quick money listened.

Same thing can be said about Ponzi scheme related business where you're required to entrust your funds to some random company while they pay you in percentage, every now and then with claims of mining or trading with your funds. We have numerous threads or replies advising against doing that but you still see victim when this projects perform exist-scam.

On the forum we have dedicated individuals that have chosen to burst scams thereby red trusting the projects that likely to scam their patronizers yet you still see gullible individuals engaging themselves with such project either through bounty promotions or investing. It all depends on the individuals themselves since all have been provided to prevent them from falling preys but out of their ignorance or greediness they still become victims.

Not all new crypto users can be scammed, and not all old crypto users can avoid scammers.
This is a matter of personality. The thread that you mean is still difficult to spread seeing scammers have many ways to find the next victim. If someone can further enhance curiosity and reduce greed, they won't end tragically. They'll do more research and gather information from various parties as much as possible on new coins where suspicious information (if any) won't be included by the scammer in the presentation.

@noorman0 this is very true because I was scammed out here for around $1200, and it was such a basic scam and yet I fell for it. However post my loss I have always made sure to ask questions out here or see threads relating to scam, and thanks to this habit I was able to warn my friends when the electrum wallet scam happened.

But scammers are getting smarter day by day. Their tricks of scamming innocent people are improving. Even if we keep on sharing our own experience and knowledge, we can't stop all newbie from getting scammed. What we're sharing is a precaution to them but even though we are aware of scams running in cryptocurrency, once we also got scammed. Since they are newbies, not everyone can easily understand everything they'll be reading here in the forum. That's why experience is the best teacher. Once they have experienced getting scammed, it makes them more careful dealing with their money.
I know we can learn a lot here in the forum but sometimes scammers are really being tricky that you'll end up believing because it looks real.
Scammers are consistently searching for a chance to delude individuals in various of ways especially when somebody has busted their systems, therefore you need a significant effort on doing your own exploration to secure your funds and assets. In that way you can see diverse data that will assist you on distinguishing which is legit or fake, it's the reason behind why novices should be mindful because there will be a few people who will attempt on deceiving them by fake promises such as earning huge profit in a convenient way. They will convinced you by their sweet lies, it is their approach to get the advantages they needed from you.

That's right, each person is different with different level of the learning process, experiences and it depends on how they engaged with cryptos for the first time. Some people got engaged perhaps by an interesting article that caught their attention and they went from there to keep searching for BTC or other cryptos.

Maybe if there was some sort of official FAQ that was placed in some visible place and linked to a page where newbies would get all information about scams, hacks, private key managements, etc. - maybe this would be somewhat effective.

I really like that approach, so I made a topic for our local section last month: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215182.0

Thankfully our local moderator @Mr. Big granted my request of having the topic pinned.

Yes, there's a lot of stickied threads with useful information, but I'm talking about something likes this:

It's much more visible than stickied threads, because it's global, so regardless of what board a new user visits, they'll always have a chance to check the FAQ, which should contain useful advises, including how to avoid scams in crypto.
