Each of us has a different time zone and it depends on which country we are, I think there's no problem of posting when it is the perfect time of posting. If members are always active they will see a new post even on which board you are and not necessary to know when most people active.
Aside from forum stats, you can also use this to know who's online, how many users online and those users online but hidden profile's online status.
