Which VPN to pick?

Hey, I am just starting out and would like to use a VPN, but don't know which one... Would you recommend NordVPN? I have done some reading https://www.reddit.com/r/nordvpn/ and looks alright, how is it for bitcoin stuff?

NordVPN is fine but I would suggest going with ProtonVPN instead (based in Switzerland, and supports connecting over Tor).

If you're going to use it to access some bitcoin services/exchanges that are banned in your country, then I wouldn't suggest doing so. If caught, your funds will be frozen.

I don't think that that's an important criteria. - (edit: I see - unless of course those services are forbidden in your country.)

If i buy a VPN- i would really focus on two things- speed and logging policies.

Speed is sort of subjectable, which leaves logging policies.

The only VPN i think which has gone to and through court over their no-log policies, and held up their end, is, as far as i know-  PIA. (But they recently got new ownership which i think is a bad thing), so i wouldn’t necessarily recommend them anymore..

NordVPN is apparently audited by various reputable firms (not sure how credible this is.), so, if you trust them, i guess NordVPN wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Different people have different opinions, in my opinion the best VPN I use right now is a HMA with a 2 year license, in my opinion the HMA is fast and the GUI is minimalist. also the size of the application is also relatively small.

I've been using ExpressVPN for a few years now, and never had any issues with it. It is fast, reliable, and what's very important to me is that  they have great customer support, basically 24/7 live chat. Using it on PC, mobile phones (both android and iOS) and TV. Works like a charm.

I've tried several others top VPN services like NordVPN, but none proved to be on ExpressVPN level. It is more expensive than competition though, 100 USD for 1 year, but i think it's worth the money. And they accept BTC as payment option.

It depends on the reason for your use? If you are looking for speed then NordVPN will be a good choice due to his good reputation.
I do not trust many VPN operators of these services, especially Vypr vpn, Cyberghost vpn. You can read some comments on this topic^[1].
Same for PIA which I used it  .
If the purpose is to use it on any exchange platform (Not recommended option,) the best one is PIA.

Have a look at this article before choosing your VPN provider. I think it is important to know what 5 Eyes, 9 Eyes, 14 Eyes means in terms of privacy.

5 Eyes refers to 5 big countries who formed an international surveillance alliance. They spy, collect, and share data among each other. The big Five Eyes countries are

1. Australia
2. Canada
3. New Zealand
4. United Kingdom
5. United States

This alliance was later widened to 9 Eyes with the addition of Denmark, France, Netherlands, and Norway. Now we have 14 Eyes...
The article suggests to avoid privacy and security oriented services from countries that are part of the alliance and use alternatives.

Would be probably cheaper than any VPN with dedicated ip plan on the market and you can manage your server yourself

Where are you starting out ?  Do you need to use VPN with this forum ? There is no need to use vpn and you can access this forum without any worry with your own original IP.

It really depends on where you are going to use it. For example, some VPNs support torrenting some not. Some are cheap, some are more expensive. Some unblock a lot of streaming sites, some only a couple. I use Surfshark because it has advanced security protocols and is quite affordable.

One additional thing to consider above those already mentioned are the TOS (Terms of Service), and if they apply on paper or in practice. That will depend on your full set of user needs and habits, but checking the TOS won’t do you any harm, and may help to discard a few from the selection process. Please research what 'good VPN' means before you trust some random extension and 'feedback'.
They log and track everything you do online.

As mentioned in previous reply protonvpn is not bad and you can download it for free or having a plan which depends on how much the plan you want from basic, plus, visionary which is €4, €8, €24/month. You should also keep mind as what OmegaStarScream about using VPN on a services or an exchange. Anyway, there are websites that you can access without VPN but unable to create an account unless you use a VPN to create and then you'll be able to log in without VPN.
