I will not suggest to use paper wallet due to various reason.

If your goal is to store a very large amount of cryptocurrency and don't want to touch it whatever happens plus become an anonymous owner, a paper wallet is still a good option. It's probably 'safer', and by that I mean you can hide the fact that you own cryptocurrency as long as you can save the backup in a secure place.

Obviously it comes with a lack of flexibility and somewhat out of date tech, but that doesn't matter if you're holding for years and don't brag around that you have 1 BTC.
But you know people which do really love to brag that they are holding into something. lol
Paper or hardwallet is always been a good option for long term but i do always have that questions in mind on why there are really people who doesnt think off
carefully and instead do end up on using an exchange wallet or custodial ones which are more riskier than to those wallet mentioned earlier.
Protecting your coin will always vary or depend on how you do set up security measures.

A virus will not just fly from nowhere into your computer or smartphone. Your system will contact a virus if you keep clicking links that you know nothing about and also downloading apps that you don’t know about. There are apps that are owned by hackers and they can do anything once they have access to your computer or smartphone, and for them to have such an access you must have downloaded their app or clicked their link. That is why you have to be careful and avoid all these and also unsolicited mails that arrive in your inbox.

I mostly make use of smartphone cryptocurrency wallets like BitPay, Blockchain, Xapo and Coinbase and I have never had any problem with any of them. I store coins differently. These are the risks you got to take when making use of cryptocurrency, that’s why you’re always told to invest an amount you can risk.

Hackers really exist and the best to protect it is we should use the secured wallet. Never click any link that may lead on hacking your coins. As other fault that hack their assets by accidentally click phishing links on their PC. I always use hardware wallet for storing crypto through this year all my assets are safe and secured.

Hardware wallet is the best choice, lately, I also read that paper wallet is quite safe and can be an alternative choice. I do not store large amounts of cryptocurrency, so I just need to use a wallet in my gadget, I choose a trusted wallet application, and as much as possible I do not choose those connected by email, because I have had a bad experience when my email was hacked and all wallet connected with the email it's gone.

There is always a new way for the hackers to steal crypto coins in our wallets. But it is our responsibility to become aware of those possible hacking things. Remember to download only apps from trusted sites and never ever click suspicious links as they possibly contained malwares like this trojan.

I remembered when my account hacked because I have signed up to the fake cloud mining websites. That was a nightmare for me because hacker tend to get my coins from a particular site I have logged in. Now, it's a lesson learnes for me not to hastily sign up with some untrusted websites.

Simply don't just click any suspicious link in the internet, hardware wallets are secured, just have it and don't let anyone have physical access to it. Paper wallets are safe to online hackers, and not even to your indoor or neighbors.
that's it mate because sometimes our behavior in internet what made us vulnerable to this hack, scams over internet.
there are too many clickbait and phishing link in internet that has attractive opening for us to be lured and click.
never forget that just look for your best interest and not take seriously everything that will get your attention because this is the way
they are Baiting the victim.and better that we have knowledge about this so thanks for Sharing OP this is a Big Help for others.

Storing your bitcoins safely is tentatively relative to how smart the user is at storing it. For a lot of people coinbase would probably be your best bet because I know people that lose they're password and don't have a backup key or they download an update to their wallet but it was a scam to get your coins from your computer. It's a brutal catch 22. Coinbase could freeze you out of your funds at any moment but are you smart enough to not click on the url, or check what your downloading or where your throwing your private key at.

Agreed with that, the best way to store our cryptocurrency just through hardware wallet. Storing them on exchange or even through myetherewallet if you have some altcoin then it is not guarantee that your coin are safe. But at least there is an advantage and disadvabtage among when you use hardware wallet and storing them on an exchange. You will be easy to withdraw your coin if you need money but you have a risk that the exchange will be hacked and when you use hardware wallet, you will at least safe with hacker over there but you can't withdraw your money directly.

As long as we transact and / or use the internet and other computer devices, that's when no one is really safe, because even when the hacker has targeted one of the victims, whether it's an exchange or those who use a hardware wallet, the hacker will still easily do the action. We realize that so far even major and famous exchanges have experienced hacking and this proves, when hackers have targeted or targeted their targets, it can be said that hackers will succeed to do so and there is no safe in this circle so we just need to be careful and It's never careless to do anything in this circle so that whatever identity we have can be properly secured.

To be honest, hackers are more advanced than us. On the other hand, hackers can't get control of your device without your help. For example, during install a new apps it will ask for permission, did you ever noticed what permissions have been giving? Most of virus enter on our device via software and suspicious links (especially from porno sites). So we should prevent such as attack in order to protect our cryptocurrency.

I will not suggest to use paper wallet due to various reason. Only use hardware wallet to keep your cryptocurrency safe. But of course you have to prevent virus as well they could get control of your clipboard. No system are safe, always double check your addresses during sent fund. Don't store your fund on exchange for long time to avoid attack.

Hacking softwares are getting advanced as these hackers are always in the pursuit of more sophisticated tools. Of course they are after for the money so they need to find ways on how to acquire it easily. So it is always better to use hardware wallet rather than smartphone apps when it comes to storing your crypto portfolio.
Agree, hackers nowadays are really more advanced than before.. Even binance had experienced such hacking problems where in even the kyc details of each users got leak.. But the good thing is, binance really secured it's inventors funds thru their SAFU... So it means that even exchanges are really prone to hacking.. It is not safe to keep our investment there... That's why we need to find a way to secured our coins thru other options like paper wallet or hardware wallets wherein you are the only one who knows all the details of it..

Simply don't just click any suspicious link in the internet,
You are right, very high risk, instead of protecting it can be lost.

Be Careful.
OP, don't use something that states Bitcoin protection. Many cases afflict members here by clicking on sites like that, protection, the security of Bitcoin is in yourself, not with other people or certain sites.

It is a big challenge for us on how to keep safe our coins especially when we are using online wallets. A hardware wallet is really expensive for you to acquire just for a few satoshis that you would like to store there. And that makes most holders keep in an online wallet.

Simply don't just click any suspicious link in the internet, hardware wallets are secured, just have it and don't let anyone have physical access to it. Paper wallets are safe to online hackers, and not even to your indoor or neighbors.
Have to regret this thing when we do this...
Hackers will find a way to crack our keys and even we think that we are secured enough, we are careful about clicking links but we can't be of 100% safe all the time.

Trezor have some security breach based in some article I read before. That's why much better to use ledger or other hardware wallet. And like other says you are the only one that can protect your assets by not clicking some unknown links that can harm your computer. And collect your data especially your private keys that store in your pc.

Never click on any unknown link. These links are promoted by hackers in different ways. They send most phishing links via email. Don't join any giveaway that wants your private key. I saw that by attending the giveaway, many were victims of hackers. Simple.
It is true,

Most crypto users become a victim of hacking because of this trick. And since this is free they just click the link and log in their wallet on the fake website that hackers made. That's why it is better to investigate if the website is legit first and see for yourself if it is really a giveaway. Also, don't just easily log in the wallet to being a victim of hacking.
I was almost a victim of this, but except that it was an airdrop email to me. People should be aware that just because the site is quite fancy, doesn't mean that the people behind the monitor of those sites would do you any good.
This is one of those sites that could've probably successfully baited 70% of newbies in altcoin airdrops, because one of those site claims that they're in partnership with MEW and it is gonna require users to put in their wallet into the site for the tokens to be received.

When we are still noobs then its no surprise that we are really prone to the risk on getting fooled yet we do still lack knowledge and awareness
this is why as a part of risk management we should really let ourselves learn from others experiences so that we would able to avoid things that we would
definitely meet up along the way.All informations needed can really be read up online, it will just need you to have some effort to at least read up those things.

Bitcoin is a publicly available cryptocurrency, there are a lot enthusiasts doing transaction from different places at the same time, which makes its security and protection more challenging. Due to this fact, Bitcoin is not easy to protect in general but there are some ways to protect your personal account and transactions. Beside from layers of security from strong passwords, 2FA Authentication and updated software to fight viruses, it is also important to not engage with suspicious website and unknown links as these are used by hackers to get started phishing.

The best way is to staying alert and taking precautions like always having an updated antivirus and having a strong password with special characters and always, verify who you are making transactions with. In this way, bitcoin can be protected from hackers.

anti viruses are good but they won't always protect you against everything. you still have to be careful yourself, don't download any random things you don't trust, don't visit shady links,... and obviously you must use cold storage. hardware wallets are good but that is not the only option. for "storage" you can always use a paper wallet that costs practically nothing.
Anyone that is serious about the protection of his coins needs to really think about changing its operating system to something way more secure than windows, I know that Linux can be more inconvenient when it comes to certain software and specifically when it comes to games but that should not be a factor when we consider how secure our coins become by using Linux, if you choose to use Linux this makes the issue of the antivirus moot and your coins will be many times more secure.

There's a very easy way of protecting your coins. You just have to make sure your private keys are in your possession and are kept offline. There's a common misconception that when someone loses Bitcoins it's those bitcoins that were hacked. In reality the user was hacked, or the exchange he was using was hacked. Bitcoin wasn't hacked and is not going to be hacked, there's no need for us to do anything to protect it. What we should do is protect the devices we use to transact and try not to use centralized exchanges.

I would suggest every time you access a website check it's SSL certificates and you should be able to easily catch scams and hacks. Moreover you must always check the sender's email address and carefully match it. A few point to always keep in mind.

1- Any offer sent to email that sounds too good to be true is a scam more often than not.

2- An email that urges you to change password is usually a phishing attempt.

3- Getting an email that asks you to claim any sort of prize is usually a scam.

A week ago, I read about the safest wallets, I found out that the safest are paper wallet and hardware wallet. The wallets are offline but to make a transaction, you have to connect it online. I later read of a malware that can steal cryptocurrencies  from trezor or ledger nano in just 15 seconds which are the best hardware wallets.

So, we need to know how to manage our wallets too and have a strong antivirus to protect us from hackers and also we need to know the latest threats from cyber criminals so that we can protect ourselves away from them.
Virus can't infected our Computers if we don't click malicious link and other unknown applications (don't download).  And also always check our pc link clicking virus scan before connecting our hardware wallet to make transactions. And your right! We need to keek updated always in other ways of hackers to victim us. So that we will be safe always here in crypto currency world.
