When you are using bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, risk is always included. Some hackers create a suspicios link or some clickbait to make you interests in the following website or link. So i suggest that you avoid suspicious links specially in your emails or an unsafe websites. You can also create an offline wallet or hardware wallet. In your hardware wallet you can store your bitcoin offline but when you have to make a transaction, it must be connected online . It has a less chance of getting stolen but that doesn't mean that you have to be careless. You must be alert and aware of the things you used specially when online.
Or much better to not clicking any links sent by not expected sender because for sure 99% of them are just advertising or hackers and or scammers.

Also those links sent by not reputable person?avoid clicking them as most of them are clickbait or sponsoring advertising.

And also correct to create offline wallet for more secure crypto holdings.and last never share gadgets to others and your social media accounts.

I believe that there are simple procedures that you can take to avoid your wallet being hacked and your cryptocurrencies being stolen by hackers. The first thing is that you should store them in a secure wallet and a secure device, maybe a separate device that you don’t really use much.

You should also avoid clicking on links that you know nothing about, because those are mainly the ways that these malware can be installed in your system/device without you being aware of it, and that’s how they collect information and also gain access to your wallet. You should also stop opening unsolicited mails, once you see them, mark them as spam immediately and delete all.

The bitcoin is already secured the transaction are only to the sender and the receiver and one of the things does the hacker can get the information is through the device because most of the time we are browsing into the internet, downloading insecure files, and using the moded application can cause harm to our devices and we cannot see that sometimes there is a worm, trojan, malware and more about that software that the hacker use to get your information and also the transaction.

Still, that article sounds interesting. I personally didn't know phones could be targetted for this, it's not surprising but I guess I Never thought of it. Google auth increasingly sounds like the worst authentication app, can't back it up / move it over to a different device but also is a security risk. WOuld someone with experience or knowledge be able to tell me if such issues would also affect authenticators like Authy?

In that case, we can store our coins in hardware wallets and make sure you have tight security protocol for your computer, if you are using it also to connect the world wide web. Avoid pop-ups and you're right, unsolicited emails, put directly to trash and delete. Never open their attachments, because that's where they will screw your computer. Also, sign-up only to trusted sites and do not give your credentials to anybody that you know your privacy would be at risk.

I think that these issues should be considered through the prism of the fact that in the near future ordinary people will use cryptocurrency as a means of payment.  Not every person will be able to use a hardware wallet and therefore it will be necessary to look for other opportunities in order to preserve their assets.  If we consider the situation with the storage of funds in bank accounts, then the bank security service is responsible for their safety, and if we talk about the safety of cryptocurrency, then each user is responsible for the safety of cryptocurrency funds personally.  I believe that for an inexperienced person, cryptocurrency storage carries a rather big risk.

In my opinion, if hackers use malware and trojans to steal the coins we have, we should always install premium antivirus. And always
update your antivirus, don't use free antivirus. And hardware wallet is still the safest to use, so don't worry too much. If you have coins
in large quantities, don't keep them in one wallet. Divide into several wallets to avoid being targeted by hackers.
Getting a hardware wallet is a solid advice for those that are looking to protect their coins, but getting an antivirus is simply not going to be enough, if you need an antivirus then that means that you are using an operating system that is not secure by definition, if you really want to secure your coins then you need to be willing to sacrifice some convenience on its use and install one of the many Linux distributions and learn how to use it, this will take time but your coins will be many times more secure when you do that.

One of the primary ways of securing your cryptocurrencies is to buy a hardware wallet such as Trezor or the Ledger Nano S and make sure you have backed up its private key at a very secure place. Also, make sure that you keep this wallet very safe and away from any thing that can pose a threat of damage to it. Whiles surfing the internet beware of suspicious links and for safer reasons you can even install Ad blockers to prevent any of these suspicious ads from popping up.

Stop entering every site, just use the only trusted sites to read, buy staffs/assets, and play games, don't open emails from unknown and time to time delete your spam  folder and not download the apps from  untrusted source, also escape  to store your keys and mnemonics phase online and if necessary just use only trusted cloud storage.

Before we even talk about entering sites, be aware of the links you are all clicking since this is the common start of phishing sites. You might think that it is the site you wanted to go but hackers nowadays are so tricky that even a single sign in a link could lead you to a trap. I remembered a streamer who talked about a hacker who hacked his computer, I think that is TimtheTatman. I know this is not crypto currency-related but if someone got control of your PC, just consider your bitcoin gone. Not a supporter of the content creator but I think you could learn something from that video since the hacker while controlling his PC, taught him something

Phishing is still a thing for frauds at this very moment cause there will no less gullible people and there will be just more of them in the future. If the security of the people increases it does well on the breaching too, emails are one of the most targeted by these people coz they can just work up with random emails and send an invitation link although emails are putting unsecured logo to it under its name, some people are not well known on how it could cost them. I haven't heard of that story where Tim was hacked, but I'm sure he learned his lesson with that.

All these have been on for a long time now, people usually get scammed and infected by virus because of some suspicious freebies, which are too good to be true. Downloading or adding just any link to your browser extension can be very deadly when it comes to security in this space.

Simply don't just click any suspicious link in the internet, hardware wallets are secured, just have it and don't let anyone have physical access to it. Paper wallets are safe to online hackers, and not even to your indoor or neighbors.
This is the best idea on avoiding losing your stuff.
There is no freebies nowadays so younreally need to earn your coin in a hard way .
And expecting free stuff on a phishing link grow up.

Try to get a hard ware wallet . If you still concern about getting accessed on your PC.

As a bitcoin user, we have a different ways to prevent our account to get hacked by the bad people. But it is basic on how to get off from the hackers, by just thinking before you click. Many sites out there has an hidden agenda that if you click their links their bots are starting to see your private information without knowing it. I must to say that avoid to enter in a link with a suspicious acts.

Isn't just to think? No offense for those that were scammed but that would be the most basic thing to do in most situations. Think. Not from a single POV, but from every possible POV. Whether it be tiring or a pain in the ass, you should still check it out. As for hacking, I doubt there are a lot of instances where a hacker would attack a person's pc intentionally. Most are because people often click at something that let's the hacker come in. It's like, you're opening the door for the hacker to come in, welcoming them even. If that was the case, same solution, think. Think before you click. If you were to be attacked specifically though, that may be a different issue since the hacker could use specific scenarios to bait you in. Most scenarios in the internet are for in a general sense, so thinking about it could easily show that it was a hack/scam.

There are ways you can stay safe from all these hackers. Securing your cryptocurrency wallet is a task that's left for you, you have to do the right thing when securing your wallet. As for the best wallets, paper wallets are the most secure, but I don't think there is any wallet that should be considered as the best because they all have one way or the other that they are not so good at. Your paper wallet if you're not careful you can end up storing it in the wrong place and water might touch it, or rats and roaches? Lol.

You can have three wallets; hardware, paper and cloud wallets. Cloud wallets will be for a regular use while paper wallets will be the main storage and hardware wallets can be used to store some too, and make sure that your private keys are store different from your wallet. And when you want to generate your paper wallet, make sure to scan your computer for any malware.

its better to use hardware wallets than other wallets such as online wallets, but that doesn't mean you must not use online wallets, the best way you can do with your wallet is to be careful  with the passcode or the privatekey do not let anyone know your privatekey, that might be the cause of your loss, and second don't click any suspicious links

When you have a huge amount of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, you should be storing the 90% of your crypto in your hardware wallet like ledger and trezor wallet because it is the safest way to store your cryptos that hackers could not access in a hardware wallet. While the 10% of your crypto should be in your online wallet, so it wouldn't be bad if you have been hacked or lost your account.

just simple way IMO...
do not carelessly use Wifi especially in crowded places such as cafes or others, do not carelessly click on links in emails or browsers, use Google authenticator or email authenticator for your wallet.
