It happens, and it has happened not once but several times. There are some altcoins that will be going up even when the other coins in the market are going down. Projects can be doing well because they are really good projects and due to lots of Investors being part of the project and investing everyday, the project will keep going up despite that some of the other coins in the market are going down.
There was a time ChainLink was growing , despite that Bitcoin was decreasing in price as of then, even ETH and BCH and other top coins. So it do happens, though I don’t think it’s in a situation like we have now, this pandemic is affecting everything.

After reading few posts on this forum today I became confused because and I decide to let it out to get answers in return, is it possible for altcoins to grow (altcoin season) without Bitcoin? I'm not talking about pumps like if a coin get burned off it's max supply or if listed on binance and other top exchanges, I'm talking about every altcoins surging on their own without Bitcoin taking the first step... Share your thoughts, I would love to hear you out
My personal opinion. It is not possible to have an altcoin season where altcoins grow without a bull run. But it is possible for an altcoin to single handedly grow and pump in price even when bitcoin is bearish. Do you understand the analogy ?

it's possible but it must have a strong reason for it. for example the project is very good or the development has new innovations. but if only listing on a large exchange I think will only cause the pump a moment later it will be normal again, or indeed the price is deliberately held so that it does not go down.

Basically, all altcoins are influenced by Bitcoin. People have a habit that other cryptocurrencies are very dependent on Bitcoin. But in fact, there are exceptions and they have a trend opposite to Bitcoin.

When we have huge market movement in any direction it's usually connected with Bitcoin. I don't remember some significant rise of any coin that passed without previous Bitcoin rise. Alt-coin season will come after Bitcoin make new ATH.

Possible but for it will be needed more promising project with larger investors partnership and day by day increase development. You know bitcoin is always king and every new altcoins depends on the bitcoin so it must be fighting altcoins grow without bitcoin.

Actually I like what is happening with altcoins market, there are still projects that are created and though they don't give profit to investors right away but at the right time, they will be one of the projects that will grow, its likely gonna happen when altcoin season will arrive. The altcoin season is gonna be headed by bitcoin, the best chance of it happening is when bitcoin is on a bull run, like achieving a new ATH and for sure there will be a FOMO and altcoins market will follow, that's the possible scenario, only problem now is we don't know when it's gonna happen.

No,
Altcoin prices always depend on bitcoin. One factor is that altcoins are only convertible to BTC, altcoins will be having a hard time to increase without the influence of bitcoin.
Altcoins, especially now, will not be able to grow without Bitcoin. Here, on the contrary, one should expect an increase in the level of Bitcoin domination to 70%. So far, I do not believe in the growth of Altcoins, even in relation to Bitcoin. Yeah, altcoins market mostly growing influence by bitcoin, at the moment altcoins are going different way, there’s we can't say that Bitcoin price movement is effective things for altcoins market. The dominance of BTC is too high, you can see that altcoins aren’t increase as per as btc pumping. For just this time i don’t think altcoins price are depend on btc.

When an altseason occurs, the price of the selected altcoin will rise against bitcoin and the dominance of bitcoin on the market will begin to decline. The price of altcoin depends on bitcoin if valued in dollar but againts bitcoin, in my opinion the price of altcoin can be said to be independent

it's just to expect that the development of potential projects today is very difficult to find. however, not all altcoins do such development. to be honest, altcoin season can also occur if bitcoin prices go up high. well, the people will follow the king, if the king is bitcoin, then altcoin is the people

Most altcoins are already cheap now and buying is a big opportunity because you don't have to wait for any bullrun before making insane profits, top altcoins can surge on their own without Bitcoin rallying first
If you mean the top 20 altcoins, then of course yes, their acquisition will give good profit in the long term. But at a short distance, in 2-3 months, there is still the opportunity to dive deeper

Some altcoins such as TemTum are going to come out of the corona panic stronger than ever. For example TemTum has now got an LOI with Anguilla to provide them with a backbone for their own national digital currency, with more deals with other countries in the works also. Once news of this released when the panic has settled I can see TEM going $1+

There are plenty of people who are pretty sure that alts are the future and bitcoin has to go away some day

This is not possible to grow for altcoins without an increase in the price of Bitcoin because BTC is base of all altcoins and without BTC all altcoins can't grow.

in my opinion it depends on the quality of the altcoin project, if the quality of the project goes well and according to the scheduled road map, the price may not be affected by bitcoin.
It is not as simple as you explained. Sometimes projects ignore the power of the top altcoins and they pay higher fees at the end of year. Btc is the only power which can bring altcoin season.

Stop speaking about altcoins like their price action has some seasonal variation of sorts, it doesn't.
Just buy when ALL the signs are bullish, and sell when shit hits the fan, it's really not that difficult.
If you sit around for years waiting for an altcoin season you're going to miss a huge amount of trading opportunities, particularly if you are a swing or day trader.

I totally agree with you. Previously, I also tried to hold coins and thereby missed various movements in the market. Now I try to monitor the situation and during the bullish movement - I sell. And during the crisis (recession) - I buy. In this way I’m more likely to go into profit.

That's what you called a short term investment, well, if you can always find good timing to enter the market as the price is very volatile. Actually this month, when bitcoin dump at $4k+, if people bought at that price, they are already in good profit now. IMO, it's not hard to to be profitable if you have the skills as volatility will make your more profitable. Speaking of altcoin season, it looks like it will not happen soon but if that time comes, I think people would trade more on altcoins as its more volatile.

Yes it's possible, there is a reason why it is called altcoin season and that is, it is the time when altcoins surge in price. During this season, it means people are now buying more of altcoins than Bitcoin hence the reason for its price surge, in the same way, altcoins can surge together with Bitcoin. Also, it is important to know that, at this level or growth of this space, when altcoin season sets in, it will be for selected altcoins; that is, altcoins which are worth it, altcoins which already have working products and so on. So while clamouring for altcoin season, ensure to hold good coins.

Altcoins can surely grow on their own recently we have seen great examples of chain link, tezos and many more even some tokens have performed really well like snx and crpt. But to be honest the real parabolic altcoin season does not seem to be around the corner as of yet i think we may need to wait like 12 to 18 months more to see that highly anticipated alt season.
