I think there's no doubt na mae-extend talaga ang ECQ by at least 2 weeks or a month. Considering the statement by General Galvez ika nga:

Quote
"With the announcement of the Chief Implementer, [retired] General Galvez, that mass testing can only be conducted on April 14, which is still 11 days from now, we are left with no other choice but to extend the ECQ by at least two weeks," he said.

"Mass testing of persons under monitoring and persons under investigation is the only way to determine if we are winning the war or not. Without mass testing, we are totally blind," he added.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año earlier said an extension is not advisable as this would hurt the country's economy.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque, four days ago, said it was too early to say if the implementation of the Luzon-wide quarantine should be prolonged.

Source: https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/nation/732536/senators-weigh-in-on-possible-extension-of-enhanced-community-quarantine/story/

Hindi natin alam exact case or even the closest possible amount of cases we already have in this country. Mass testing to PUIs and PUMs lang makakapagdala somehow ng clear vision sa kalagayan natin dito sa bansa. Thus, further decisions might come up whether to lift up exclusively either sa mga businesses (since babagsak na ang ekonomiya natin, or sa school matters which is malabo) or unfortunate man tingnan we might even experience longer ECQ kasi siyempre magkakaroon pa ng contact tracing 'yan para ma-isolate na agad mga possible carrier or not.

Here's the source:

Quote
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo said Sunday she will support an extension of the enhanced community quarantine, but underscored that it was “crucial” for the government to explain to the people why it was necessary and that assistance should be expedited.
Source: https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1254099/robredo-backs-lockdown-extension

Since nag-lead na si VP Leni Robredo, panigurado may ba-back na rin sa idea na 'to. The biggest problem is:

Quote
Kung hindi nila naiintindihan bakit kailangan gawin, ‘yung resistance nandyan,” she said.

(It’s crucial that for people to cooperate, they need to understand why we need to do this. If they can’t understand why, there will be resistance.

The vice president also believes that the local government units instead of the Department of Social Welfare and Development would know better about the processing the national government’s social amelioration program.

Ang LGU yung may sense kung ano talaga ang nangyayari on the ground, LGU ang nakakaalam ng landscape,” she said.

Let me highlight 'yong biggest problem
Quote
‘yung resistance nandyan

Source: https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1254099/robredo-backs-lockdown-extension

Well, resistance once again. Feeling ko kahit saan naman lumugar gobyerno 'di na mawawala 'tong pag-alma lalo na itong 1 month pa lang na ECQ marami na nakaramdam ng hirap at 'di nakipag-cooperate what more 'yong possible extension pa?

Talk about LGUs naman.

Here's another good news mga kabayan:

NGO launches hotline for legal advice, consultation during quarantine

Quote

Maaari rin siguro natin iadopt ang paggamit nito, anything that helps reduce the case will be helpful IMO.

Singapore has expressed willingness to work with the Philippines in using an app that would help in the tracing of individuals who have come in contact with COVID-19 patients, the Department of Information and Communications Technology said Sunday.

Singaporean Ambassador Ho Wei Hong was quoted by the DICT as saying his government is willing to provide the Philippines technical assistance on the use of the app called TraceTogether.

TraceTogether, an app developed by SGUnited, the Singaporean Government Technology Agency and the Singaporean Ministry of Health, uses Bluetooth to track people who have come close to a COVID-19 patient.

It tracks when they were in close proximity with other people, which can be used to identify the close contacts of COVID-19 patients, if they allow the Singaporean Ministry of Health access to data in the app.

The Singaporean government ensures that the app does not track a user’s location and contacts and data it collects will only be stored on the phone for 21 days and will not be accessed unless they are identified as a close contact.

More and more people/groups from both sides of the fence are expressing their support for the extended lockdown which is great.

President Duterte and his Cabinet secretaries, Congressmen, Senators, local elected officials donating salaries to help boost funds in the fight against COVID-19.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/nation/732763/83-of-over-19-000-people-tested-were-negative-for-covid-19-doh/story/
Quote
Of the over 19,000 people who were tested for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), 83 percent were negative for the illness, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday.

The DOH said that a total of 23,678 tests, including retests, had been processed as of Saturday.

There were currently eight laboratories nationwide that had received certification to conduct independent COVID-19 testing.

All the accredited laboratories were capable of testing 1,200 individuals each day, according to Vergeire.

Meanwhile, some 78 other facilities were currently seeking certification to conduct COVID-19 testing.

“Ang target po natin ay 8,000 hanggang 10,000 tests kada araw... pagdating ng April 14,” the health official said.

The chief of the government's COVID-19 response earlier announced that mass testing of suspected cases would begin on the same date.

COVID-19 has infected 3,246 people nationwide as of Sunday afternoon.

Of this number, 152 have died while 64 have already recovered.

**I'm reading some claims na yung 19,000+ ay numbers of tests done at not the number of people tested. According to the claim, nasa 5,900+ ang PUIs na tested.

No way for us (the public) to verify the news. Anyway, here's a screenshot of where the 5,900+ tested PUIs came from (top right):

Rodrigo Duterte’s second report to the Congress on the government's implementation of the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act.

The Interagency Task Force (IATF) - Technical Working Group (TWG) on Anticipatory and Forward Planning, led by the National Economic and Development Authority, is conducting an online survey to better understand the needs and experience of business owners and consumers under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your answers will help the government design appropriate policies and programs for you.

PLEASE FILL OUT SURVEY BY APRIL 7, 12NN
🔹 Business owners (available in English, Tagalog, and Bisaya): bit.ly/MSMEsurvey
🔹 Consumers (English): bit.ly/ConsumerRAsurvey

While the IATF is still discussing kung i-extend ang ECQ, some trivia muna tayo. Ibig sabihin pala ng salitang "Quarantine" ay a period of 40 days (source).

The word "quarantine" originates from quarantena, the Venetian language form, meaning "forty days".[13][3] This is due to the 40-day isolation of ships and people practiced as a measure of disease prevention related to the plague.[13] Between 1348 and 1359, the Black Death wiped out an estimated 30% of Europe's population, and a significant percentage of Asia's population.[13] Such a disaster led governments to establish measures of containment to handle recurrent epidemics.[13] A document from 1377 states that before entering the city-state of Ragusa in Dalmatia (modern Dubrovnik in Croatia), newcomers had to spend 30 days (a trentine) in a restricted place (originally nearby islands) waiting to see whether the symptoms of Black Death would develop.[13] In 1448 the Venetian Senate prolonged the waiting period to 40 days, thus giving birth to the term "quarantine".[1] The forty-day quarantine proved to be an effective formula for handling outbreaks of the plague. Dubrovnik was the first city in Europe to set up quarantine sites such as the Lazzarettos of Dubrovnik were arriving ship personnel were held for up to 40 days.[14] According to current estimates, the bubonic plague had a 37-day period from infection to death; therefore, the European quarantines would have been highly successful in determining the health of crews from potential trading and supply ships.[15]

Rodrigo Duterte’s second report to the Congress on the government's implementation of the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act.

https://i.insider.com/5e691773e4f9fe6069578734?width=1200&format=jpeg

1. Quality made na Surgical Mask

KWARENTA? makes sense bro, good point.

( di ko na makita yung balita na yun pero that was about 2 days ago) Then eto pa ang masakit, see this https://www.philstar.com/nation/2020/04/03/2005296/ambulance-driver-shot-over-suspicion-ferrying-covid-19-patients , may binaril na ambulance driver.

KUKULANGIN PA BA ANG ISANG BUWAN o 40 DAYS NG QUARANTINE? ANO SA TINGIN NYO?
DAHIL MUKANG AABOT PA TO HANGGANG MAY or JUNE PERO WAG NAMAN SANA

Quick update: ECQ extension been extend up to April 30 na sa recent decision by PRRD.
Sa speech niya kanina, the word he used was "inclined" (wanting to/leaning towards). It's not yet final pero  sinasabi na niyang 99.99% mag-extend up to April 30. Maybe in the coming days, gagawin ng official.

Duterte approves Luzon-wide community quarantine until April 30

MANILA, Philippines (Update 2: 11:01 a.m.) — The enhanced community quarantine in Luzon is extended until April 30, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Tuesday.

In a late night address Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte’s late night address where he said the government is “inclined to extend the lockdown up to April 30.”

Nograles, in a virtual briefing Tuesday morning, said that the president accepted the Inter-agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ recommendation to extend the ECQ in Luzon.

“Our [IATF’s] recommendation to President Duterte is accepted by the President, and he announced it last night,” Nograles said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“We verified it and the answer was the ECQ is hereby extended until 11:59 p.m. until April 30,” he added.

Nograles said the IATF passed two resolutions on Monday night. In Resolution No. 20, the IATF formally recommended “the extension of the implementation of the [ECQ] in the entirety of Luzon up to April 30, 2020” to the Office of the President.

He added that the resolution noted that exemptions previously granted by the IATF and the Office of the President shall continue in the duration of the extended enhanced community quarantine.

“Such extension of the ECQ shall be without prejudice to the discretion of the president to relax that implementation of the ECQ in some local jurisdictions or the ranting of exemptions in favor of certain sectors such as public health considerations and food security may warrant,” Nograles also said.

      NEW UPDATE:
JUST IN: We have an additional positive case of COVID-19 in Valenzuela City bringing our total to 33 as of April 7, 2020.

      VC33 is a 42-year-old male.

Our Valenzuela City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) is monitoring all the confirmed cases and conducting contact tracing to the identified close contacts.

Karamihan dito puro may edad na 40+ yrs. old. kaya mas mainam na wag na nating palabasin yung mga kamag anak natin or if may kakilala tayong may mga edad na.

Parang diving apparatus ung self breathing device ah, legit ba yan?

Kailangan lang talaga natin manatili sa bahay as much as we can para hindi na magkaroon ng new cases.

Pero instead na punuin nating ang thread na ito ng negativity and stress, set aside muna natin yan and here are some mental health tips from philstar.

I know sobrang stressful isipin ang mga problemang idinulot ng COVID-19. Pero to keep ourselves healthy, (1) let's focus on what we can control. (3) Sundin ang ating regular routines, as long as hindi tayo lalabas ng bahay. In this case, hindi natin masyadong iisipin na stuck tayo sa bahay or bored. (6) Kung kaya mo or nakakaluwag luwag, sikapin nating makatulong sa nangangailangan even in a smallest way we can do. (7) if you're feeling something or unwell, consult to your doctor.

In these simple ways, at least we can keep ourselves healthy.

I'm not sure kung inalis ng page owner (unlikely) or mass reported (most likely). Mukhang may mga grupo pa din na gusto mag-control ng information na mababasa at maririnig natin kaya be more discerning sa mga mababasa natin.

      We are manufacturing.

A group of private businesses have stepped up to help the fight against COVID-19 - Palace: Local garments, textile exporters to produce 10,000 PPE sets per day after Holy Week

      Quote
Last week po, inannounce ng DOH (Department of Health) na may 1,000,000 na PPE na available na para sa ating mga frontliners (Last week the DOH announced there will be one million PPE available for our frontliners). Pero aside po (But aside) from these newly-procured PPE, the DTI has announced that member-companies of the Confederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines will now start the local production of medical-grade PPE coveralls for healthcare workers,” he said during a virtual press conference Monday.

“Raw materials for these will be shipped in by this week and the roll out of production at the garment factories will immediately start after the Holy Week. Once operational, these factories will be able to produce 10,000 PPE a day,” he added

Follow up on the converted Quarantine facilities:

COVID-19 FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY OF ENGINEERING RAMBULAN

      • Lung Center of the Philippines
      • Manila Doctors Philippines
      • Philippine Children's Medial Center
      • Philippine General Hospital
      • Rizal Medical Center
      • Bagong Cainta Hospital
      • Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital
      • San Larazo Hospital

If gusto niyong mag-donate sa Engineering Rambulan.

"Philippines joins world in search for possible treatment for COVID-19"

      PLASMA TRANSFUSION

Last week, the Philippine General Hospital issued a call for COVID-19 survivors to donate blood or plasma. Plasma from donors, who will go through thorough screening, will be used to help treat patients with severe and critical symptoms of COVID-19.

Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, PGH spokesperson, told ABS-CBN News that convalescent plasma therapy has long been used during epidemics as a way to bring in antibodies from recovered patients to those still battling the disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also supported the treatment, which has been used for illnesses that do not have a vaccine yet.

“You are essentially giving the new victim's immune system a boost of antibodies to hopefully get them through the very difficult phase,” Dr. Mike Ryan, head of WHO's health emergencies program, said in February.

I think this is a big step up when it comes to treating Filipinos affected by COVID-19, bukod sa pag-aasa sa mga regular treatment and medicines na binibigay ng doktor bibigyan sila ng bagong antibodies para maboost yung immune system nila. Although this isn't a cure pero sana makatulong ito when it comes to recoveries and mabawasan na din yung mga namamatay sa sakit na ito, dahil binigyan na din tayo ng greenlight ng WHO para dito sa tingin ko magwowork-out naman ito para sa mga kapwa natin. Aside from plasma transfusion may ibang tinetesting din sila which is coconut oil and chloroquine sa mga pasyente, lets just hope ito din ay makakatulong sakanila.

An update from the DOH COVID-19 tracker:

For those who are monitoring the official Philippine nCOV tracker, the website will be down until April 11 because they are in the process of encoding all of their backlogs. I'm not sure why it's going to take that long but it's better that they do to give us complete and updated information.

      Warning from the FDA:

In case you are seeing posts on social media by some individuals/groups claiming they have the cure for COVID-19, please be careful of these misleading posts. There is no known vaccine/drug yet and they are just trying to profit from the desperation and fear of the public.

I'm all for taking in FDA approved food supplements to strengthen our body's immune system and help fight any virus but no one should claim or make it appear that it's the cure for COVID-19.

Singapore was praised by WHO and by many countries on how they handled the pandemic. Some of our citizens are even suggesting that our government should follow their lead. Well, their government also implemented a one month lockdown because they can no longer contain the second wave of infection coming from local transmissions.

.... Confronted with a sudden surge in new cases, almost all of them contracted locally, the government has decided to adopt much more stringent measures to slow the spread of the virus. On April 7th all but essential businesses closed, with Singaporeans allowed out of their homes only to buy food and medicine, to exercise and get their hair cut. The “circuit-breaker”, as the government calls it, will remain in place for at least a month. Those who violate a new law banning public and private gatherings risk a $7,000 fine, a six-month stint in prison or both. Even Singapore is no longer able to preserve a semblance of normality.

      ASEAN COVID-19 TOTAL:
      Cases: 16,538
      Deaths: 529
      Recoveries: 3,668

The "unpreparedness" was not the effect of a budget cut. The initial proposal for the 2020 budget was lower than that of 2019 but the approved budget was actually higher.
      • 2019 approved budget: Php 165.92 billion; 2020 Approved/Signed - Php 172.37 billion (source)
      • 2020 proposed budget - Php 166.5 billion (source)

I think there were major boosts/improvements in our healthcare system since this current administration took over but it's still not ready to take on a global pandemic like COVID-19. We can also assume that our medical experts had underestimated this virus but, to be fair, almost every country did and many of them had a better healthcare system than us.

With the increasing daily testing capacity, with more quarantine facilities being built and with more protective gears & medical equipment being bought/manufactured/donated, hopefully we can flatten the curve even further and lessen the number of casualties.

One of the famous Mayor on Metro Manila Isko Moreno will be giving out a lot of rice subsidies sa mga kababayan natin check out the news. This is one thing Filipinos are expecting from our Politicians.

At least 571,000 families will receive rice subsidies from the Manila City government next week amid the COVID-19 crisis.

In a statement, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced that 50,000 sacks for rice, which is equivalent to 2.5 million kilos of rice, are ready for distribution to the families affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

"We are trying to stock up on basic goods, particularly rice, so we entered into a contract with [the] National Food Authority about two weeks ago. This is going to be delivered by next week in their respective barangays,” Moreno said during the inspection of sacks at Pritil Market.

The Manila Mayor said at least three kilograms of rice will be given to each family.

“But it is better na [may] sobra para maakap namin hangga’t maaari ang lahat,” he added.

As of April 10, the Manila city government has distributed food packs to at least 235,000 families.

In addition, the Manila city government has also earmarked a P571-million budget for the City Amelioration Crisis Assistance Fund (CACAF)  which grants P1,000 cash aid to each of 500,000 families residing in the city’s 896 barangays.
