I think so ,because almost everyone uses the internet and the devices we used both in our home or at works also needs internet. So far we started already paying expensive for internet and there is none free now all have expensive fees not only the internet but also our basic commodities like water and electricity.Don't be surprised if the internet would become the most expensive commodity in the world because it has a greatest demand.

I don't think so, internet is expensive now (if you wish the best one), but if you are ready to settle with some low speed internet it can be very cheap! Like all other services, you can use them for free, you can play certain games for free, but if you wish better, faster you will need to add more money. But it's something with what we meet every day, you don't need to be smart to see that it's a business and that business will continue to be the same in the future.
I can't remember exactly, `97 or `98, one guy in my street had satellite receiver to watch international channels and internet on that, nobody else had that! We started with dial up modems in that time. Bottom line, he had money and he had the best on the market, the rest of us were from working class and we didn't have other choice than to settle with dial up! Even if it's important for people who live in a big country, the internet in a small country or developing country is not cheap, and only some people who can access the internet. But yes, today, it seems, the government realizes that the internet can help them to get the actual news that happens in other country or places so they can know or they can anticipate if something worst happens. Besides that, I am sure that sooner or later, the internet cost will not be expensive anymore for all people.

No offense mate but I can't really perceive how internet could become a commodity in the first place. I mean, it is not as rare as gold. Besides, how can you use it on trading? In my opinion, basic necessities such as water and fresh air could be the expansive commodities of the future.

Don’t get me wrong, internet will still work without satellite/EM waves/receiver, you would just need a cable between two computer connecting the Ethernet port, and voila you have the internet, although that’s more accurately to call “intra-net”, but it’s just a proof of concept, I just need to mention you do not need anything else to get internet, the reason satellite, 3G, 4G, 5G, exists only for one purpose, that’s to drain your money even faster than cable connection and you think they deserve the credit for draining up all your hard earned dollars? I think Mark Zuckerberg used to advocate free internet access to everybody around the the globe, despite internet cost almost nothing to connect two devices, what is spend during the transmission of internet data are just so satellite radio waves or some wire cable electricity, compare to digging gold from the earth crust, you digging gold you need a lot of men’s power, you need a lot of chemicals, you need a lot of heat to melt gold, a lot of petrol to move the gold, a lot of space to store the gold, a lot of everything to keep gold to what we have today, but it mean nothing. Good argument but I don't think that Internet will become the most expensive, on the contrary, I believed it will become more cheaper as we advance this technology. Today I'm paying around 25$ for a 10 Mbps. Yes, you might say that this is expensive basing on the speed as compare to other countries. But I used to pay $50 back then just like 10 years ago, and back then the service has horrible, and the company has a poor service.

But with the advent of latest trend, and more companies joining the picture, services here become cheap because of competition. Actually you can see a lot of marketing in the streets trying to lure someone to get out of their current services provider and moved to the new and latest and fastest provider. Although, I'm locked for 1 year, which I just renew every year. They even offer me some Iphone (old model obviously) just to keep me with them, Lol.

The price of the internet is getting cheaper because of the competition however it is not cheap as it looks like. Fiber cables used in wires are expensive, maybe that's another form factor of the service pricing depending on the cable manufacturer plus the installation process and manpower, there are internet that cost the installation a lot than the others. The other factor is the place, if your place is not yet covered for the internet then there will be a special tower of you, but you won't get that in the normal price because it will be expenses will be shouldered by you unless you have neighbors that is willing to help you with that.

In my side ive been paying up $36/month on this connection which is more expensive compared to other places. Well i dont have any choice..


Internet should be free? I dont think so yet we know that there are lots of resources needed and manpower to build up a network.

Internet nowadays can be considered an expensive commodity. In the future, it may or may not be the most expensive depending on the country and how the government would handle it. Not many ISPs provide fiber optic connections for internet, they still uses radio waves so the speed is slower but its very cost effective for the internet service providers.Any private ISP will try to provide internet for remote areas unless they have enough traffic to cover the expenses.

It's expensive here and not only expensive there are a lot of restrictions I subscribe to a 25 Mbps for $25 and I'm only getting 1 to 2 Mbps on the first month of my subscription I got all that 25 Mbps but after a few months they restrict me and they only allocate 1 to 2 Mbps we need a third provider here the two current providers we have here are not giving us good service.
