Price of Bitcoin decreased, because people need money so they exchanged their Bitcoins into fiat to buy whatever they need to buy. Some sold because they expected price of Bitcoin to decrease and bought or will buy back latter. There is a lot uncertainty right now.

The crypto market is very much influenced by buying volume and selling volume. if the buying volume suddenly increases, the price rises is inevitable and vice versa. in this case, small traders do have to go with their flow, because small purchases do not have a big impact, unless many people buy the same coin at the same time, maybe it can. but it's still inferior compared to just one person with a large number. crypto market that is decentralized and offers freedom of investment, indeed requires that we alone determine how assets will work, in terms of price and market capitalization.

Your are right, If the pandemic was the main reason for the dip then BTC and other coins would have gone down very badly... However, it's still maintaining its reputation even in this terrible situation, from top to the bottom everything has been crashed like stock market, oil, businesses etc... I don't think that the bitcoin price dump was just caused by the whales, what I believe is it was due to COVID-19 Pandemic that causes the panic in the global scale if we compare to other sectors of trading like stocks, etc they are all went down altogether because of many stockholders are selling their stocks for liquidity. and cryptocurrency is not exempted thats why most of the top cryptocurrency prices are falling too. because of the COVID-19 scare worldwide.
