Ways of avoiding repetitive topic/thread.

Everyday a lots of new member register in bitcointalk.org. For seeking help or earning merit they start a new topic. But I suggest them before starting a new topic please make a forum search or google search about your topic as it is discuss here before. But if you don't know how to use "search function" properly then it is impossible. I want to share some topics about, How to use search function properly?

This is a nice effort compiling list of informative post. But I think Ive seen a lot of index type posts here on BH and META sometime poster should just need to bump their topic to be seen again by most users. Problem here are the title of the post, users tend to confuse when using Search function if there are topics already like that or content.

As a newbie to the bitcointalk forum, I personally think you should hold up a little on starting new topics and do more of reading around the forum (you can even do this before you register an account).
Through stickies and most of the popular threads, one can get a grip of the modus operandi of the forum and this would prevent redundant questions and threads.
Using the search option is for when you have a particular inquiry in mind, but reading should be a prerequisite for any new member to acquaint themselves with this space.

Well said mate, I've been seeing some repetitive posts from the beginners of this forum as well those not beginners, well we cannot know whether the topic is already posted unless you makw a research, try to search on thw right middle top corner of this platform, there is a seaech engine that you may use to search abou tthe topic, so you may avoid posting the same topic.

Posting same topic is not bad at all unless to add some additional information and you want to clarify things that what has been posted. Merit is really important here but gaining knowledge should be prioritized.

Thank you mate. Today I want to start a topic about "How to use search function properly". When I search about it, I found some topics already discuss about it. Then I want to start a topic about "How to buy copper membership". Again I search it and found some topic. Before creating this topic I also search about it. But may be my search keywords was wrong.
I just wasted my time in two to three hours. Anyway I lock this thread now.
