What do you think of this move?
Of course we must be happy now as Google finally doing their move to help Crypto investors and also cleaning their site. These extensions are the main reason why we are losing our crypto assets things that unfair because Scammers and hackers are using Google for their Activities. Thanks to Google and hope they will continue doing this cleaning time and time again.

- Noo, this is a violation of freedom of speech, you can't just remove 49 extensions from Chrome web store, people should learn to review every line of code themselves, they can't just rely on a centralized entity. Why won't you think of the hackers, they need to feed families too. - Haha, chrome web store banhammer goes brrrr.

Very bad. Google is so intrusive and yet they have crossed the line once again. How dare they remove all the hard work with just a click of a button!? It's not stealing if users are willing to give up their private keys! With their data centers all over the world, now the wallet developers might not even get to protect themselves the from prying eyes of Mr Sundar Pichai, the almighty CEO of Google. They deserve their privacy, just like the rest of us. Leave them alone! /s

It would be even better if they remove all malicious android apps from Google play. I don't know what kind of people were using those browser extensions. The average cryptocurrency user is usually more tech savvy and knows how to spot shady scams and hacker codes. Many hackers are using a Chrome extension called Tampermonkey. The extension itself isn't dangerous, but it's used for executing malicious codes.

It will be better if you posted the link here, anyway, @ DdmrDdmr has posted the article here. Of course, it's good that they will quickly purge their web store with this fake apps, but this will be a persistent problem unless they going to be strict with their apps policy. Publishing an app is very easy, https://developer.chrome.com/webstore/publish.

Of course it's a good move... Just because it's a "Google Chrome extension" does not mean it's safe. Same with those who download crypto wallets from the Google Play store and believe they are "completely" safe because they believe Google has pulled out the harmful apps and sites. Nothing on the web is safe! once you are connected to the internet, you become vulnerable.

They shouldn't have been there in the first place. It actually behooves Google to screen what they accept in their web store, ads, and so on. Shame on them for having these malicious extensions accepted. Without other people calling out their attention, these extensions could have made a victim out of a number of people.

Well it's time for the cryptocurrency community to have a serious rest as these hackers had exploited us through these means of extensions. To me, the move to remove these holes been used by these hackers is a welcome development and should be applauded for their bold move. Actually, many cryptocurrency users had been victims of these circumstances, maybe after this they should investigate their stores to help clear these hackers and hijackers out of the Way.

They were not the legit wallet but malicious extensions that looked like the original wallet but were a fake to steal private keys and coins of unsuspecting users. People installing these extensions for using it on dapps and dex were their target. No one would hesitate to input their private key in myetherwallet or tronlink but they don't realize its a fake one as it looks just the same.

I thought at first you were serious about it and then when I read this - "Why won't you think of the hackers, they need to feed families too." But really smart move from google. I bet the number will be more than these, but it is already a great start. It means, google is recognizing the reports or doing their job to protect their users from these scammers. I wonder how many wallets had been hacked by these 49 crypto wallet browser extensions. Hopefully, users will be more vigilant when using browser extensions. As much as possible, just limit your usage to known legit ones.

If these extensions were for malicious purposes only, then the question of whether it is a good or bad move really doesn't make sense There are probably at least as many extensions that have not been removed, and new ones are emerging every day. It's so easy to be a scammer these days, even Google helps by not checking extensions or phishing ads.
OP, this is poor promotion attempt, even without direct link to your exchange...

Lol didn't notice the sig. "What do you think of this move?" when asking about scam extensions being removed like OP expected someone to say that it was a bad move. In my 4 years in this forum this is probably the least effective way I've seen of trying to start a discussion.

Thanks to Google for such a good job. Finally they have removed such malicious links. Some dishonest persons are hampering the original investors in the cryptocurrency market. I hope Google will continue such job in such a way that no original cryptocurrency wallet is deleted.

Obviously, it's great when Google and other giants combat crime and do what they can to protect people. If these extensions were scamming people, it's great that they're finally removed. Along with them, however, some useful things could get removed, and that would be a problem. I am not saying this is what happened this time, but something similar happened with Youtube before when it tried to fight against scam but also deleted some videos from famous crypto channels. So if the scam is where it stops, and Google doesn't go after legit extensions because of 'fighting money laundering' or something, then it's a good move indeed.

This kind of news is giving a negative on the whole scene for cryptocurrency. Google as one of technology innovators, they cannot just let this kind of stuff happen especially if they are their extension which technically means they are running under Google. It was a good move for the google, a bad image for the crypto. I guess there are going to be more of this to happen, the removals of harmful extensions and software. Hopefully google finds more of these malicious extension so we can live with peace in crypto space, no scammers, no frauds just pure innovation. How I wish.

The majority of user here would probably say that this is a good move, since there's a lot of users of browser extension, including those people who are unable to determine the extension if it is fake or not, then this move will actually a big help for everyone who uses chrome extension.

They should have done this long time ago. They only did it when too many got victimized of phishing sites from these extensions. Wallets are vulnerable and promptly highly attracted by these wise mens. But only few will fall for this if they just taking caution on clicking or checking first the security especially if its about wallet. OP, this is good that you informed us here. Are you silently promoting your exchange?

Oh, but you don't want a decentralized store? You want a centralized solution where some people decide for others what's good and what's bad? Suddenly we're fans of censorship? OP, this is poor promotion attempt, even without direct link to your exchange...
Really poor attempt as I didn't even see the link when reading the first post. But, it seems like this will lead to something more interesting than the current topic. An Estonian exchange, no real address, minimum mandatory capital...I give it 3 months before it has a dedicated thread in reputation
