I think it would be hard for blind people to access bitcoin because one of the main body that we are using for the cryptocurrency is our eyes, we cant use well any technology without sights but we have here the Assistive Technology(AT) which helps people to access technology.
Quote
Assistive technology (AT) is a broad term that refers to hardware and software that enable people with disabilities to access technology. For those who are blind, the main AT are screen readers, braille displays, and speech recognition software.
It can fix their problem. https://www.levelaccess.com/understanding-assistive-technology-how-does-a-blind-person-use-the-internet/

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

We still have plenty of rooms for improvement and Bitcoin isn't really going to replace Fiat anytime soon.
It is just sad that with all the hype and good things that is going on crypto some people couldn't really get into it because of their disabilities even if they want to.
It is hard to trust your money with others so I understand that they want to keep it on their own so they doesn't have a choice but to ignore crypto even if they want to invest in it.
This is kinda new to me but I agree. Since technological innovation is way faster than before, perhaps in the near future we'll see more opportunities for people with disabilities to have easier access with bitcoin just like us. Maybe if crypto gets more attention to the public, we might see more development for them to also get into bitcoin regardless of their disabilities. But I think if they really want to enter the crypto space, it's best to have someone they can trust to guide them since it's more challenging for blind people to adopt bitcoin.

I think this idea is very good for blind people to know the development of cryptocurrency in the future and introduce it, but I'm not sure all blind people will understand how to use cryptocurrency by explaining it, because it is very difficult for blind people to understand how cryptocurrency works for them and I'm afraid they don't be able to properly store their security keys in the future.

I haven't think this far though, I saw that there are still plenty of adjustments for bitcoin to be fully accepted in the future but I didn't see this coming where I totally agree on how the blind people can use crypto currency or bitcoin in the future if in case crypto currencies will likely to replace fiat.

Blind people can easily identify fiat especially if they have master it already but it will be very difficult for them to use a crypto currency, a text to speech feature will likely to help but I am not so sure if how they are going to add it while maintaining the security of every crypto wallets.

If implemented it will be an innovative idea because it will not only make the blind people to get involved in cryptocurrency cause it will make older people which seems to believe crypto to be too hard to understand and to use get involve in crypto investment but good security must be created so if won't be a situation where by they will be hacker victim.

Introducing bitcoin to the average person is inherently difficult, but for a blind person, it is even more difficult. They may listen to some podcasts, but they will not be able to directly experience Bitcoin.
I think that trying to introduce Bitcoin to the blind is somewhat laborious and impractical.

That's actually a good point. I never considered a blind person owning such wallet because I assume that they will have an administrator for their property or investments. Well, having an administrator always has the risk of committing fraud so investing a wallet that caters to such disability will be definitely helpful.

If they were to add a text-to-speech feature to a wallet, hopefully they also add extra security so not all people can have access or hear it  as that would be very counterproductive their end.

Adding text-to-speech to a wallet would be nice, but rather challenging to implement on a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Imagine the wallet speaking the private key out loud. Another person could hear it and use that same key to unlock the blind person's funds. Earphones could be used for this purpose, but I wonder how secure the whole setup will be against malicious actors. At least, the idea is there. Making it a reality is another story. Considering that blind people are the minority, developers don't feel the need to create a Bitcoin wallet suitable for these kind of people. Most blind people usually have an assistant which do all the things for them. They can simply delegate their Bitcoin to someone trustworthy enough to handle their wallet for them. This brings the middleman which crypto was meant to avoid in the first place, but it's the only way for blind people to get access to Bitcoin right now.

All in all, there may be far more important things to focus on than simply making Bitcoin accessible to people with disabilities. Once Bitcoin handles its own issues (mainly scalability), then developers might focus on bringing blind people to the crypto space. If there's enough interest into making a wallet software with accessibility features for blind people, developers will make it happen one way or another. Otherwise, blind people will be left out of the game. Let's hope everyone's priorities is put first, in order to make Bitcoin widely adopted in the mainstream world. Just my thoughts Grin

They should know that bitcoin does exist in the market, being blind is not a hindrance for people to become successful.

If they are knowledgeable about it and someone made a platform for those blind people to access bitcoin, then that's a good adoption. We have a lot of developed platforms right now, some apps can be accessed by only a voice speech, text-to-speech, so it is not a hassle for them anymore. Also guidance can be a way so that we can help person with disabilities to experience bitcoin in an investment.

Cryptocurrency is a must to invest because there's a lot of good impact into it and it can really make people's lives become worth it.

Vision impairment is quite complicated in blockchain industry. However, we can't really say what a blind person can do in order to succeed in life. I've seen a lot of blind men anywhere having a successful family and their condition seems just nothing when it comes to competing/fighting through their life's journey.
As for Bitcoin issue, i guess there is someone who could create, add some features or made an innovation that can easily be access by blind people. The world is going to be cashless and virtually driven transactions, so i think everyone(w/ no exemption) needs to practice this kind of industry with user friendly features,  including the blind people of course and other PWD's.

I've been into Bitcoin for quite a few years, and I'm impressed to see how far it has reached in the mainstream world. It's the most widely-adopted cryptocurrency for decentralized payments worldwide without the need for a middleman. In its current state, Bitcoin works wonders for ordinary people like you and me. It's only a matter of putting the right BTC address and the number of coins to send to get started using the Bitcoin blockchain.

However, my concern is how blind people are able to get used to Bitcoin? To my knowledge, wallets (either with a GUI or CLI) don't have "text-to-speech" features to make blind people's lives easier. It'd be great if developers keep blind people in mind to help increase the adoption of the pioneer cryptocurrency in the mainstream world. The only thing I've found is an audiobook of the Bitcoin whitepaper which is a great solution to introduce blind people into the "mechanics" of Bitcoin.

Any thoughts? Huh

You know, it is really a big problem for blind people to use lots of things and services, and of course to keep their finger on pulse with the rapidly developing world, and the BTC, crypto and Blockchain are not the exception. Lots of things are oriented on the ordinary people who can react rapidly first. After adoption of masses different products and directions may be adopted to the needs of people with disabilities. But the problem is not in wallets only. What if such a person got some BTC but what to do with them after? How to trade on the exchanges, for example? Too many things should be technically equipped with the voiced function or support.

Yes and sad to say that blind people couldn't use it like any other currencies that they could.
Developer should also try to create something that would help the blind ones use crypto so they would have a chance like everybody had.

There should be a company that can set up that can help the blind to understand Bitcoin because it is also a market worth exploring, not only blind but also hearing impaired people, Bitcoin is for everyone and people with disability should also have access and knowledge on how to use Bitcoin, they might even adopt it faster than other people who choose to ignore Bitcoin.

This is a money vs blind people scenario. AFAIK, technology on blind people has already begun and there are plenty of innovations are still on the making.

One of the project studies here in our university is object detection and classification, one of the common studies for blind or visually impaired people is through this with a lot of data to train. Those data are all of the objects in common areas where blind people usually go so it can determine the objects beside him. So my idea in this kind of project that is related in cryptocurrency is to have a specific device that will notify you of the market value changes, transactions, amount of bitcoins through buttons and numbers that act like Siri.

It should be like this.. press the upper button for BTC value... press the lower button for transaction... it is like an automated device that talks to you.

I am afraid it will be not easy to fulfil. It should be a special equipment for a blind person to monitor the websites, even in case it will be some voice bot that will inform about the price of the exact token or coin, there still will be a need in someone's help to set it up. And there is a high risk to lose data or assets. Or, for example, how to get the lear understanding of the situation on the market - not general, but how to make the analysis of the concrete situation of the concrete coin at the interested period of time and so on. But it would be a real know-how in case it would be achieved.

The fact they are blind doesn't affect their ability to understand Bitcoin. They are maybe blind but not stupid. They can read and learn about it as well as of any other things. Also, today there are laws and recommendations in many countries for web sites to be adapted for blind and other disabled or people with other difficulties so I don't see obstacles for blind people also to use Bitcoin.

My take, it's only a matter of time before the Bitcoin bandwagon carries everyone along, including the blind and people with other disabilities.
You know what bitcoin is for everyone. It doesn't matter if you are a kid, an adult, boy or girl, with disability or not as long as you can use technology and you know how to operate a computer, laptop, phone or any other gadgets that you can use when trading here.

This is not a completely correct statement, since computers for the blind are a separate area of technology and it is very specific in its device. If, for example, typing a simple text for a blind person is not a big problem (since there are special keyboards, as well as voice dialing), then making a payment from one bitcoin wallet to another is a more time-consuming process and involves many different small actions that are practically impossible for a blind person at the moment.

You are right! They do able to hear and it would really be just simple for them to learn via audio and understand on whats bitcoin is all about.
When reading then they can always make use of those traditional tactile writing system if there would be one which wouldnt be hard.
It doesnt really matter if you are visually impared or other disabilities it cant really stop people to learn or do know about bitcoin.
