Hi guys. The dilemma that I am going to raise is something that I think has passed everyone's mind. Would you ever choose a job that pays a good salary or would you choose a job in the sector that you love with lower salary? Personally, I would go for the first option...
Can you live in a salary on a job that you love the most, if the answer is yes then you can go with it, there is a big chance of improvement with your salary and career if you do the job that you love the most, but if you cannot live then you should choose the other one and if you are more stable you can pursue the job you love.

I know my initial answer is a bit of to the contrary of many others here, but I don't think a lot of people understand what I'm really saying is that you should find a good balance between something that you like and something that makes you money.
Maybe I really love playing the guitar, but I know that I'm bad at it and I know that I can't make a career out of it. The same could be said of many other things, like maybe Carpentry, or Auto work, etc. Some things you're just not good at and that's acceptable.
Find balance between something that can bring you the financial life that you want, and that you like enough to be able to do everyday without being miserable. Don't forget we all die in the end.

you can choose the first option and earn money for you to do the second option. it is not always the passion that matters especially to me that has a family to feed and a lots of responsibilities to pay. but in the other hand, you can do both at the same time its just a matter of time management and prioritization.

I had a great job computer programming full-time. Great pay & benefits, drive was a bit of a pain but I got used to it. The problem was that over time coding all day long *for someone else* started to get on my nerves, and destroy the love I had for programming which I had garnered up by it being a hobby. There's a good explanation on this by Michael Reeves on his Patreon page (and I'm sure on one of his videos I just can't find it): Quoted below, please see source belowSomehow, after all the, tedious work and painful debugging sessions, I still love to program. A lot of software developers experience something called the Overjustification Effect. Programmers start out just coding for fun, but as soon as they get a job programming, they experience a huge drop in passion for the craft, and I'm no different. To regain my enjoyment for programming, I started taking on stupid, personal projects. It worked amazingly well, I wasn't trying to make anything useful, or appease any managers, I just made things. Eventually, I wanted to share my creations, so (in combination with crushing boredom), I started my YouTube channel.
Source: https://www.patreon.com/michaelreevesI decided to switch careers, and do something which takes me off the computer (for the most part). I still computer program as a freelancer, but I find it a lot more enjoyable to be able to choose the jobs I wish to entertain/work on. It gives me the freedom to code things I'm genuinely interested in instead of being forced to by the big man above me. Essentially, I took a massive pay cut to do something I found a tad bit more enjoyable and I now enjoy programming as a hobby once again.

People say that you should choose a profession of your liking because then you will find enjoyment in your job and it wont be a burden to you. I would prefer to do a job of my liking no matter what it pays. With my interest and hard work, i would be able to excel in the field i love. If i choose the other job which is not my interest but pay more, in the long run i may not be able to progress in it. On my end, I think I will choose first a job with good salary but only for few years until I save good amount of money, then I will divert to a career which I really like best, where I know that I can practice my passion. Because you are right, if you love what you are doing, you will not feel like you are doing your job instead you will enjoy everyday going to work and will look forward about it. So less stress in life. Why is that we feel that the career we choose pays less ? It may pay less in the beginning but when we got experience our pay will become better with the time. Also those people are lucky whom are paid well at their job and their profession is of their choice.

It usually depends on your situation. But in my case I would prefer No.2. A good amount of income can be earned through a good career.

Greetings everyone! I hope you are all doing great. I used to do a job related to what I actually studied for (and I really love what I chose to study) and it was pretty interesting and exciting in the beginning, I loved it! Unfortunately, as the time went by, it became quite frustrating and time consuming. The salary was not too great, but I managed to live with it. Surely enough, there were days which reminded me why I chose to do that specific job, but had I had to keep doing it, I am not sure if I would have managed. It could be me, of course, but I grew to like it less, to put it that way. Then, by accident (believe it or not), I got a chance to move on to a new job, one I knew literally nothing about. I accepted it by the initiative of my family since the salary was much better, and I actually grew fond of it the more I learned about it. And here I am today, still doing that very job for a few years now, and I love it more with each new day. The bottom line is, give it a try if you see some benefits in it, even though it might have some drawbacks. You never know how it will turn out for you. Cheers!

You are a lucky man if you enjoy your work day after day and you can be congratulated for finding such a job. About 10 years ago I had my own business that brought me enough money and pleasure as I worked for myself. After a while I went bankrupt because technology was constantly evolving and there was no demand for my products. Since then, I have worked in a lot of organizations, but I have not experienced this kind of pleasure anymore. To this day, I remember that time as the best. Though it is harder to work for myself, but also pleasure such work brings more especially when you achieve some success.

It is generally accepted that a good job is a good and high income. But there are people for whom a good job is not associated with material values. They are attracted to the idea and completely different goals. I believe that a good job should be like your own hobby, you like to do it regularly, and it brings pleasure.

That would be the best thing to do but I don't think it is feasible. There is a small percentage of people who manage to do as a job, their hobby. All others do a job that they usually do not like but they have to do it in order to make a living.

Well for me I will probably go with a job that pays good salary because as a person like me whose having a family what I'm looking forward is to help my husband through our daily needs.I have done it for almost 16 years of my life but when I resigned my job as I wanted to keep an eye for my children grow I never leave my husband behind,I still able to help him through online selling it's not what I really love but it's what is needed.I keep fighting for them.

I am truly sorry to hear that you business eventually failed, but at least you had a chance to experience that kind of joy at one point in your life. I don't think many could say the same, unfortunately. Maybe something good awaits you again soon, who knows. Just stay open minded, I guess. I was fortunate enough to find the job I actually grow to like more every day (or should I say the job found me? ) and I am so grateful for that. I wish you all the same luck as I had, and even more. *fingers crossed*

I think choosing between these options depends on the financial status of a person. But anyway, I'd also go with the first one—the job that pays a good salary. Money is of great necessity nowadays (especially during this time of pandemic). And as far as I know, there are companies that offer seminars first so that an employee will have an idea of what he/she will be doing. Also, I think that one will eventually learn how to love something and in this situation, one's work.

You are right but consistent with the present situation of the country regardless of what the work is, everyone will choose employment with an honest salary Everyone needs money to beat this crisis caused by the epidemic. Therefore, albeit the work isn't good if I buy a better salary then I'm forced to try to to it later under the pressure of things Circumstances will teach him to try that.

You cannot live a decent life if you don't make good money. And trying to find the best job will never come true. There will be always some things that you don't like so it is better to choose money.

Well based on the question i will go for the good salrary. Now a days most people dont look at career sector so far you are educated and you have the ability to learn you are good to work any where. but if your question was "A good salary but no peace of mind e.g frustration at office OR A bad salary but peace of mind". I would go for peace of mind

Oh, a question for a fresh grad just like me. I think it truly depends to the person. If the person can survive with the salary from the career he loves, and can support his family and himself with it, I think he will choose to stay with his/her hearts desire.
And its alright to choose the good salary too. I believe that you can always go back to your dream job in the future, it will never be based on your age. I have a friend who's into theater writing and acting now after spending 20 years in banking. You can always choose the good salary in able to provide for yourself and your family and go back to the sector you really love in the future, after you've settled. It will never be too late.

Graduates usually think that low salary is acceptable at the start of their career because they think that they are going to get a raise in the future. But if you don't have a family that they can support you and you have to live your kids from your 8 hours everyday job then you should totally have to choose the good salary, right?
