It's not important to know who own them but what's wrong with knowing that if anyone knows? I'm just curious.

If I know you own 10 BTC here and there, would you be fine if told people around you "hey, this guy has 10 BTC here and there!". And then an hour later, you got many spam messages asking for a donation, or worse, a hitman coming to $5 wrench you.
hitman isn't the most feared, the scariest is the spam messages from HOT GIRL and then invites sex  Cheesy

what is your purpose of telling that you have a lot of Bitcoin, is it just showing off? if there is no positive reason then it's not important to tell

Come on. Everyone wants to know who own this addresses. Otherwise, there would be no quest for who is satoshi. You may not have any interest knowing who owns which address but that doesn't mean no oneelse have that.

I'm pretty sure you are not the only person who asked that question and many have done blockchain analysis to uncover the owners of those unidentified wallets.

Imagine you own the wallet and did your best effort not to be identified with that address. You would want others to stop digging. There is this thing called privacy.

Well maybe out of curiosity some people are digging information about these addresses without respecting someone's privacy. For a thing like this, I guess it is enough to know if the address belongs to an exchange, a person, or an institution. Why not try to keep your business in acquiring bitcoins? make the amount of those addresses a fuel to be inspired and be on the top 10 addresses, it is free to fantasize  Cheesy

https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html
Some of the addresses are tagged the owner name here in the list but who own thw other addresses? There are no tag on these addresses. Are they known persons? Or unknown?
Most of those wallet will remain unknown for the purpose of their security and if I’m the owner of one of the address on the list, I’d better to shut up or the hackers will find me. They own a lot of money, it could be a group of people, a group of company or a big exchange we can’t really know but what matters the most is that, they are still here holding bitcoin and that can be good for us.

I can only say that I am quite surprised by the fact that many people ask questions like this, as if BTC is something completely worthless. Who owns BTC at any address should be a completely private matter - most people don't go around talking about how much money they have in their bank accounts, but for some strange reason they are not hiding their crypto investments at all. When I say "hiding", I do not think from tax administration or something like that, but from complete strangers on social networks.

It would be much better not to find out who actually owns these top 10 addresses, or even the top 100 of them. This protects the owners, but also the BTC itself - there are certainly people who would be very happy to own these coins, but not only to sell them, but for a reason to destroy them. Even though destroying private keys does not destroy BTC, I personally would not be pleased if someone publicly demonstrated the destruction of a large amount of BTC - and the world is full of rich lunatics who would do everything for 5 minutes of glory.

I am just curious to know why you want to know the owners of those addresses. Aside from linking any of the addresses to a scam, I do not think it is right to keep digging the owner of an address especially if the reason you are doing so is just that you see that the addresses contain a huge amount of crypto.

Come on. Everyone wants to know who own this addresses.

Clearly not "everyone".  Probably just vapid people who are obsessed with things like celebrity gossip and other such shallow nonsense.  I think people today, generally speaking, are so unfulfilled in their daily lives that they have to fixate on what others have.  It's just sad when that's what passes for culture nowadays.  It's partly a problem with the media, who think it's okay to report on the private lives of individuals and pretend that it's somehow newsworthy, but ultimately the onus is on ordinary people to stop eating that crap up and then demanding more of the same.

I would say this is yet another instance where Bitcoin provides some healthy checks and balances to the incorrect way in which we currently perceive things.  The "Rich List" in Forbes, for example, has identities attached to it, potentially painting a target on their backs.  The Bitcoin "Rich List" is pseudonymous, allowing people to stay safe by not allowing criminals an easily identifiable target.  Why would you want to potentially place lives in jeopardy by seeking to change this?

Otherwise, there would be no quest for who is satoshi.

Contrary to popular belief, also none of your business.

Maybe he plans some criminal activities? if some of these Bitcoin holders leave near him, maybe he plans to steal their wallets? That's the first thing that falls on my mind, second is that he wishes to follow those people on different social platforms and try to become their friend and beg for some coins?! We will not hear the reasons from OP, some people just ask questions without any explanations why they wish to know something. I don't care about these addresses, I care only about my wallet!

Maybe the OP is just being curious Smiley That's nothing wrong with asking. But personally, if I was the owner of any of those wallets, I would surely protect my identity in a way that no one can identify me.

I have tried tracking the top 50 Bitcoin addresses with the most number of Bitcoin and almost all of them are addresses of exchange (not belonging to one person).  Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss are brothers twins who own 1% of the amount of Bitcoin they bought in 2013 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winklevoss_twins

I am just curious to know why you want to know the owners of those addresses. Aside from linking any of the addresses to a scam, I do not think it is right to keep digging the owner of an address especially if the reason you are doing so is just that you see that the addresses contain a huge amount of crypto.
I don't think this is a big deal because the OP seems to be just curious and want to be motivated to be able to have a large amount of Bitcoin like the top 10 address lol, but I agree with you not to randomly link LINK because that could lead to fraud or the like..
