Hello Guys I opened this topic to Share a trick how you can prevent Telegram Scamming.I shared a topic 1 Day ago and there Said Scammers tried hard to steal my funds and They invited me to make a refund from Idax Exchange.

Thats Why I am now sharing how you can stay away from them and be secure from being scammed.For this you have to change your settings a little.

1] Open Telegram App and Go To settings.Then Click On Privacy And Security option.



2] Then Click On Groups And Channels



3]Then Change The Option (Who Can Add You To Groups And Channels) to My Contacts.



That's All Now You will be much safer than before and Scammers won't be able to add you in any fake Groups or Channels.

I already told in my past topic that I was attacked by a very strong scammer group because of this function which was set to Everyone.And I shared this for only newbies those can lose their funds anytime by being scammed.
That's Why I shared so that they will be aware from now.

And I think this trick is much better that leaving a scam group after joining.

Changing your privacy settings not to be added to random groups does lessen the risk of getting scammed but it doesn't prevent scammers from sending you private messages just like what happened to you.

The best practice I think is to never talk to any telegram group support/admin privately unless it is necessary. Before entertaining PMs, verify first if their account is legit. Check every letter in their username (not bio) if it matches. One trick scammers mostly use is changing one letter like small letter "l" and the big letter "I". Remember also that most admins would say that they do not send you a PM first.

If you determined that they are fake/scammers, report them to telegram first before blocking them. In that way, they can have a scammer tag next to their profile (see image below) if proven. Just send a message to @notoscam and provide more details.

Changing the settings of your telegram security and privacy doesn't mean you are safe from scammers. It only prevents scammers from adding you into a group and that's all. You'd still getting private messages from someone else. First of all, the trick you mentioned have been shared in this forum already. If you ever found out a telegram user or a telegram group that is a scammer then just report that user and choose spam or choose other and type Scam. Refer image below.

I don't know how to get a list of Telegram users in one group by their usernames rather than Name (display name). Do you know how to get it. It takes time to click on their Names (display name) before going to their profiles to get usernames.

Click on group name, scroll down until search icon shows up, search username you are looking for.

Thank you but it is not what I want. I meant I want to screen users with their usernames (nickname) not with their display names. I want to find scammers who make fake display names of admins in Telegram groups.

I try to check from group setting and my telegram setting no such feature like that from telegram, if you want to know their username, you must visit their profile first as you mentioned above and maybe this is the only way except if you are a programmer, maybe you can scrape it to spreadsheet or any doc. But it will outside of telegram apps not like what you want.

You will not find members in the group having the same display name and profile photo as admin, they are scammers and are strictly prohibited from being in-group members. If you meet a scammer disguised as an admin, then it's an outside user and is targeting fraud to one of the members of the group. The real admin will not contact you directly without you complaining about their project and you must validate your username the same as the admin in the main telegram group.

How if even you don't set username? I have noticed some user doesn't set their username. I am not sure but I think no one could add you at any group or channel if there is no username. However, your idea isn't bad but this has been discussed many times on the forum. I wouldn't mind to remind such as thing again and again, so people will not forgot about it.

Whatever the offer either recover fund or double ponzi offer, don't send any fund to them via telegram. Remember, any legit brand will never ask for money on telegram. Even they will never ask your personal credentials like password, private keys or seed and so on. Just avoid and block with report if someone ask above objects.

Like Falconer said, there is no need for that. Those scammers are never members in the groups whose admins they impersonate. If they were, they would be kicked out as soon as someone noticed the resemblance. They just watch the groups and contact new users who join or those who ask questions and have problems.

It is still possible to add any user to your group even if the user has no username set up and has his mobile number hidden. All scammer has to do is add such user in contact list then click add members.  So, it doesn't help in preventing of being added to scam channels. But if you're not set up username, it becomes impossible for scammers to find you through a search function and therefore it makes your account more private. However, in my opinion such privacy in telegram rather helps scammers, but not honest users, scammers are often have no usernames in order to not be caught or recognized.

As there are more topics like this, i think this topic should be locked becasue this topic is already discussed . But if there are alternatinve way about this , than we can continue our discussions.

I don't know any shorcut tricks to findout. But, if i want to verify a user who is really an admin or not. I just copy the username (i mean suspects/scammers who try to make admin profile) and search message by using "Search By Username" option in the main group. If that id is a scammer , we won't find any kind of message in the main chat group. BTW, we can find out that the profile is real or not. (Sometimes scammer use symbols or other non-letters which is automatically removed by telegram that's why the admin's username and scammer's username are match or looks like similar.)

I don't think that telegram app have features like that where you can check usernames without opening their profile. If it's about a telegram user where he/she create telegram account with the same username as the admins then it is much easier to know since the admin of the group have Admin on the right side of their username. Refer to image by libert19. When someone sent you a pm then you better you shouldn't reply.

It is the best protection to block other users from inviting to groups.
However, if someone is going to try and scam you it will find other ways. I think that the best protection of all is to block getting private messages from anonymous or strangers because now scammers try to reach out via PMs.
