Could cruise ships become safe havens?

A cruise ship seems to be a self-contained world once it is at sea. It occurred to me that if one could ensure that anyone on board s free from the virus, or immune, then occupants could associate freely without risk. This would reduce some of the burden from society, and provide some income for the operators. They wouldn't even need to leave port to be effective. Of course they would need to have medical facilities on board, and any supplies or visitors would need to be checked thoroughly.

The question is, if you took a ship full of people, and a few got the disease and died, how long would you wait to see if the rest of them were going to die from it?

Cruise ships need a large number of service personnel and this increases the likelihood of a faster spread of coronavirus as this ecosystem is closed and if somehow coronavirus can penetrate there it will be a trap for all passengers. So that's not a good idea.

Well you can't really be isolated in your home, you need food  and supplies. You are also deprived of Vitamin D, and you would get that from sunbathing on a cruise ship. The service personnel aren't really relevant, as they would need to be checked before boarding in the same way that customers would be tested. Maybe it would require a 7 day quarantine Of course you would need a hospital area, and an isolation section just in case the virus was detected.

Another possibility would be for healthy people who hadn't been vaccinated, and who didn't use pharmaceutical drugs to be on the ship with a few people who had been infected with the virus. That would give them the chance to build an immunity in a favourable environment.

Either approach would help the economy. The political handling of the virus has turned a light grey swan of a health issue into an economic black swan.

Just like we don't know that the passengers became free from Covid, we don't really know if they had Covid in the first place. It might have been pneumonia complicated by the flu.

Safe haven? No, no way at all. The only way you'd be able to make a claim like this is if you were able to effectively test people and then MAYBE cruises would be safer.

If you are able to test everyone before they get on a cruise, and test the entire cruise ship for any remnants of the virus, then yes this COULD be a cruise ship. Cruise ships are the worst possible spot to be in todays environment, you have no idea where people are coming from and if they have the virus AND if they go off the ship and interact with someone who has it.

A US Navy ship had hundreds of infected people recently. You can't be sure nobody was infected prior to climbing aboard.
Besides, a ship cannot stay indefinitely at large. You need to refuel, get fresh water and food.

It only takes one infected person to spread the virus to the rest of the ship. The majority of people who are infected will never show any symptoms and people are infected for a period of time before they will test positive.

firstly back then their process was very hit and miss because they didnt have the tools.
it was so new that america didnt even have a understanding of how to test for covid on say january 1st. because it was new..

but mid january/february/march april they did know about it and what makes it unique and what unique part to test for to know first that its a corona virus and secondly that its covid19 specific strain.
(this also debunks china being secretive. they were transparant as they told the world the rna sequence and the studies of the chemical makeup(proteins/enzymes) which then allowed countries to design tests for it)

countries than also done independant test(away from china) and compared results and also looked at their own 'genbank' list of previous viruses to see what compares and what differs
(much like analogy of how bitcoin verifies blockdata to confirm good data and weed out bad data or data that doesnt link to previous block in a decentralised manner)

they ramped up production of the testing tools that looked specifically for covid and found unique features that only relate to covid19
yes some labs stupidly didnt use disposable pipettes and they had to destroy a few batches of chemicals. but this was sorted in days and were isolated cases.
(much like some bitcoin wallets get bugs and have updates inhours/days)
 they even made processes to make sure that doesnt happen again.

there are REAL tests that can find REAL results to a REAL new strain of corona virus designated covid19

Yeah that's where you open up to another issue, if the ship needs to be refueled, needs fresh water, and needs food delivered to it every so often -- all you're doing is opening up the window for an infection, and once when occurs on the ship you're screwed.

The only real way to social distance on a ship is to be sitting in your room and having food delivered -- which yet again is opening up another avenue for infections to spread. Cruise ships are going to have to be closed for a bit.

I don't think that they can be safe heavens.
There are a lot of dangers that can happen to a cruise ship and eventually is not the safest place.
If you want to have a safe place where you can hide or spend a quarantine you should better dig a hole and build a shelter there. Underground is the best cover.

Many cruise ships were reportedly sent back their crew and some were stranded for quarantine. As long as they don't do contact tracing to the people on-board, there's no safe place.

Supplies are not unlimited so they're likely to go back on port and reload their provisions and they can't be sure who they will interact with while getting those loads. A remote island can be a good candidate for being a safe haven from this virus.

Or ya know, you don't even need a bunker. Just stay in your house and have food delivered, or go to the grocery store with a mask on.

Your house is the best you're going to get in a time like this, honestly. Just take the proper precatuions and you're most likely going to be okay. Even if you're young and get the Coronavirus you're going to be fine, just don't interact with those at risk.
