but once again I see how controversy is made against non-existent rules
That's the saddest part here, that we even need rules like (for the sake of the argument let's say I believe your story) "don't tell your friends to make Discord accounts just so they can vote for you". What happened to good sportsmanship? Correct, as pointed out earlier in the thread by another user Yeah I know others pointed that out, and that's why I wanted to check the exact date and time of account creation, which just confirmed my suspicions that accounts were probably created in bulk. Congratulations on your well deserved first place. Is that official? I am asking because in the first pizza bakeoff votes of newly created Discord accounts were not counted and I see no reason why it shoulnd't be the case here as well.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I note with pleasure that once again the accounts I mentioned and at least those of the previous days such as June 6, 7 are not considered. So were we both wrong to ask our friends for votes?

The kind of sportmanship where one doesn't create 9 alt acounts in a matter of 1 hour just before voting ends in order to win pizza contest against fellow member. Keep pointing finger at others as a way to move focus from you, but (imho) everything is pretty obvious here.

So the accounts of friends not registered in Discord that I managed to bring at the last second are not valid, but can those of a few days before be valid? Are you telling me this? How stupid I was not to have convinced them sooner... alas I will accept these rules which obviously were written in the regulation

Even if there are no strict rules, the saddest part is that someone is ready to do dishonourable actions to deceive such a friendly and generous contest. At the same time, we are talking about almost symbolic awards, should we have a special committee that will investigate potential abuses here? Does every good initiative have to be ruined by greed for $50?

I have some ideas about the rules, nothing complicated.
Imho, preferential voting could work good. My ideas: - Keep the voting on the forum, cheating on Discord is too easy - Only Full Members and up can vote - Vote using merits, and no matter how many merits you give, they all count as 1 - Being clear about what a pizza is, I know it sounds ridiculous but it's not possibile to see people submitting salads, rice, cakes, etc. In that way only users who have been active for some time can vote because of 1) Rank 2) Activity 3) Merits. No one can send the link to family, friends, etc because creating a new account would be pointless and no one would spend months of their lives farming accounts for a pizza contest.

I absolutely agree with this proposal (especially the fact that it must be a PIZZA) but I have a doubt about the use of merits. Let's assume that a user with the requirements to vote at that moment is without Smerit? Why shouldn't he have the opportunity to cast his vote? And I add that the merit system was introduced to reduce spam and increase the quality of posts and this is not the best way to use it. Instead, it would be enough to introduce a system that somehow replicates that of the merits but called for example "point" and each user with a full degree has only 1 expendable point available. Easy, democratic and fair.

My bad, I often overestimate people's intelligence, we need to make the rules so clear that even a 2 year old baby can understand them because it looks like the "bake-off" in the title for some people doesn't mean you actually need to bake your own pizza. If you guys have other ideas please let us know, let's try to improve the contest

If you're an active and good member of this community it's extremely unlikely that you won't have a single merit to spare during the 10 days available to vote. Using merits also makes it easier to check the votes, they're simply all there at the top of each post. If everyone votes making posts if becomes more time consuming. I really don't see the big deal in this case, it's 1 merit we're talking about in the end.

Even if you are a good user and you post frequently there is no mathematical certainty that you can have even one single smerit as they are attributed by other users and not automatically by the forum. So it is a type of selective and non-democratic voting. Having a merit-like voting system is not an impossible thing to do, you just need to want it.

If you guys have other ideas please let us know, let's try to improve the contest instead of using merit to vote perhaps the voting system from [VOTING - OPEN] 🥧 1st edition - Bitcointalk Pie Baking Contest 🥧 can be incorporated into the next year's pizza contest. the reason I like the voting system on that contest was that only one person can be voted by one member. using merit as a voting tool can become messy especially when members starts to merit multiple people as an appreciation to the effort they made on making the pizza.

Of course it shoulnd't count. I am sure that you remember the situation from the first year contest and how votes from brand new accounts were removed so it should be the same thing in this year's contest as well. Yeah I remember that. This year pizza contest was massive and it was expected to have much more attempts of cheating. Out of curiosity, I checked the exact account creation time and date via Discord ID (which is unique for every account and you get it by right clicking on someone and clicking "Copy User ID") of the last 9 accounts that voted for Mendace and results are interesting. All those accounts are created on the evening of June 10th (afaik last day of voting) in an hour or so its probably one person behind all of them.
It must be just a weird coincidence I am not picking anyones side and I actually like icopress pizza most this year... sorry everyone else. Edit: he also voted for himself
So what? In elections candidates votes for themselves as well... not that I have high opinion about any election system.

We are here for fun, and in the current realities we should start from what we have and not from what we want, so I suggest everyone to let go of this topic and be a little more courteous with each other in the answers (I think this is the opinion of many users who follow this drama, but are too modest to interfere in the discussion). It must be just a weird coincidence I am not picking anyones side and I actually like icopress pizza most this year... sorry everyone else. How do you explain then that you voted not only for mine but also for other pizzas?

My ideas: - Keep the voting on the forum, cheating on Discord is too easy - Only Full Members and up can vote
Because the Bitcoin Pizza contest is representative from spirit bitcointalk discord server, I think we don't have to ignore to keep voting on Discord next, but of course, must be with any conditional and reservation. For example, the voter must be a real bitcointalk member by sign Bitcoin address on the discord server. Because this is important, Cyrus must add a new channel for the sign address, and after sign address, the Admin server can add a new role for signer and change the color name member (example: green) and create spesific name (example: real bitcointalk member). Then, in the next 2024 contest, add a new rule you can't vote if not a role member.

I really don't understand why overcomplicating things using Discord when we already have the forum. Many people didn't even submit their pizzas on Discord because they don't have it/don't use it. I never use it. I also do not understand this. Why use another site / app for a contest organized by our forum? It makes no sense for me. And it also felt like a mill stone for me, knowing that I have to create an account somewhere else in order to participate. In fact, this also stopped me from participating to these contests. At some point, I did not have a Discord account and I did not want to create one only for participating to this contest. After a while I made such account but I only participated once. However, I never used that account for anything else. As a consequence, I also deleted my Discord account.
Besides, as far as I see, holding the contest there led to (way too) many complaints. For example, I consider acroman08's idea a very suitable one. For those not aware, RickDeckard organized the pie baking contest using rules from BitcoinTalk Community Awards 2022. In fact he also opened a thread where rules were discussed before applying them and, after receiving enough feedback from the community, he decided to use rules from BCA 2022, which were slightly adjusted. And, as some of you may remember, the rules used last year at BCA 2022 led to less drama. Similar reactions were encountered during the pie baking contest, therefore I tend to believe that those rules were good. Perhaps using similar rules also for pizza baking contest would dramatically reduce the number of complaints and accusations.

there is a lot of talk about freedom, the creator of the contest decided these rules (or no rules) everyone is free to create the contest as he wants and with the rules he deems appropriate
all this drama for nothing, anyone who doesn't like this contest can also not participate it's not mandatory this year is my first and last time i partecipating (for example)

According to the organizer, The contest is supposed to be fun. The prize pool was minimal. Since there is money involved, people decided to take advantage of the Discord voting system (I won't say it's a cheat because there are no particular rules about voting). Yes, it would be good if the organizer decides to change the voting system since it's too controversial. However, Organizer said if they see people cheat on the contest and ruin it, they may don't see the contests anymore. The idea of keeping the voting system on the forum will be good.
