Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Following this year's contest, which was extremely successful, with a record number of submissions, a record number of votes, probably a record number of voters, and a subsequent record level of drama, I hope next year's contest will be even more successful. As the contest hit some hard limits on the discord platform (Cyrus had to open three different voting channels) and soft limits (a Bitcointalk contest where users outside the forum are allowed to vote without even ever landing on the forum itself is a weird way to promote the forum), I think it’s time to take this contest fully back into the forum. Promoting a discord server is a very smart idea (on the Italian board, we did something similar with the Telegram Forum as well), but I think this should be done differently. Regarding the Pizza contest, I think we haven’t reinvented the wheel, as we only need to take an example from the successful contests held on the forum, namely the pie baking contest. In the Italian board, we tried to discuss a possible set of rules for the next contest. I am going to post it here as a contribution to future discussions, hoping that you might find it interesting. - Pizza must be made by yourself
- Pizza should be Bitcoin-related (you could even include a homage to bitcointalk ).
- The definition of a pizza, per Merriam-Webster, states:
A dish made typically of flattened bread dough spread with a savoury mixture, usually including tomatoes and cheese and often other toppings and baked
- In order to be qualified, you should post
- a picture containing your homemade pie+ a piece of paper with your username and date;
- a picture of the pizza in the making
- Only one pizza per user
- Competition will be held in two phases:
- 1st Phase - From 12th May 2024 (00:00 GMT) to Bitcoin Pizza Day, 22nd of May 2024 (23:59:59 GMT): This is where all the users are free to submit their entries
- 2nd Phase - Voting process from 23rdth of May 20924 to 3rd of June 2024 (23:59:59 GMT).
- Winners shall be announced on the 5th of June 2024.
- During this phase, users are only able to vote in 1 entry from the 1st Phase but are free to edit their vote until the 2nd phase ends.
- No merit sending is allowed from nominees to users who nominated them
- No minimum entries for the contest to run - No matter the submissions that we have, the prize pool will be distributed accordingly;
- Who can participate & vote?:

Of course, also dates are tentative and subject to approval from organisers. Largely I agree with your idea that there should be some rules/expectations.. and I think that I agree with the overall sentiment of all of the rules that you proposed.. even though surely, I might be a little less rigid on some of the requirements, including maybe a bit looser on the definition of a pizza and perhaps allowing further down the line of membership.. maybe not full member but maybe a junior member with at least 10 merits (and maybe such forum member would have to be registered on the forum for at least a couple of months prior to the start of the contest).. at the time that the contest starts... maybe the same with voting (which a qualified voter would be established at the time that the contest starts, not at the time of the voting.. which we know comes later in time)... Of course, even though I wanted to express my off-the-cuff opinions (reactions), I am not strongly wedded to them.. but instead, just thought that I should chime in (or that I wanted to chime in.. you know what I am trying to say?).

1) Self-Custody is a right. There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

I don't understand why we should be light on the definition of Pizza? This is a food that has been exported and replicated in all parts of the world but everywhere pizza is a base of dough made of water, flour and yeast with tomato and mozzarella on top obviously cooked in the oven, even better if it is wood-fired. As far as voting is concerned, a jr member is too easy to obtain and if we want to avoid fake votes we must limit to those who have a degree of seniority in the forum. And it seems right to me that users who really frequent the forum vote.

Agreed if it's pizza then it should be pizza and nothing else. Otherwise, what is the use of naming it Pizza Contest? It is a globally accepted food and it is not that hard to cook. If you do not have an oven you can still cook it. There are thousands of videos and articles available on it. The main purpose of having this content is to celebrate the date which is relevant to pizza. For voting, I think it should be restricted to rank and the rank should start with Full Member and above. I also think that the participants should be allowed to take help from the local board. The voting should and promotion both should have a different cutoff time. I mean 24 hours before voting the promotion should stop on the local board. By promotion, I mean not spamming the board but engaging the respective members of the local board to the participant's thread on the local board.

I don’t understand why you want promotion. You want an anonymous contest to avoid the pizza contest becoming a “popularity contest” or you want to put rules in the promotion because you want it to be a popularity contest? Also, I was thinking about the anonymous submissions: I have only one kitchen table, and I guess next year (unless very unrealistic price trajectory) I will be baking on the same table. This mean an astute eye will still be able to spot my pizza. Is it going to be my fault?

Besides all above suggestions @fillippone just came up with another very interesting idea in the Italian section, which would be the anonymous submission in order to avoid people voting a certain pizza just because the user who made is "popular". I second that and I was also suggesting that the participants should take one picture with their username and one without so the winner(s) can later submit the same picture but this time with their username tag to confirm they actually made that pizza.
I am all up for more rules for the next pizza bakeoff, but imho this anonymous submission thing seems like a bit of an overkill/overthinking and a lot of extra work for whoever will organize this. There needs to be some middle ground between allowing people to easily rig the voting system due lack of rules, and making so many of them that people won't even wanna bother to join.

You want an anonymous contest to avoid the pizza contest becoming a “popularity contest” or you want to put rules in the promotion because you want it to be a popularity contest? Promotion or promoting by a participants to gain vote for the pizza they posted would happen. They would use either local discord group or local telegram group. By allowing it to happen on the local board we might be able to encourage them to use the forum. That might be beneficial for those local boards that are just on surviving mode. I may be wrong but I feel such a decision would create more traction and engagement on a few local boards, eventually the forum would be benifit with this idea.

So the user with the most wins wants to readjust the rules right after losing? I'm kidding!!!I think the suggestion is very good! Simple and clear rules, which make sense for the type of test being held. The element of a photo of pizza in the oven is very interesting. As it allows to give greater guarantees that the pizza was actually made by the user (or direct family member).

This is a very brilliant idea for the Pizza contest in next year. Let this idea should be implemented by next year. Going to Discord to propagate the forum is a very good move but one thing that I noticed was that most of the Participants in the recently finished pizza contest that, many Participants didn't submit/post their pizza in the Discord channel. In fact they didn't visit the Discord channel for any participation. No submission and no voting. They only stopped at the forum participation, and not in the other channels. I like the rule starting from the Full Member participation in the contest. The previous contest, newbies were also allow to participate and image were not shown so other users helped them to showcase the image for them. And another one again, they, newbies have not gotten much experience in the forum so they allow to learn more in the forum before participating on such events.

Another idea I had is for TalkImg to have a page dedicated to the contest. The participants would upload the images there, and then it would be presented on a specific page. Well, I still had to figure out how to make it all right. Either way, I just ask that the organization say something, 1 or 2 months before, to get everything set up. EDIT: If you want to move forward with this idea.

Pizza must be made by yourself There is no way for anyone to prove pizza was made by myself... It can be made by my aunt, next door guy or custom made in pizzeria by proffesionals. The definition of a pizza, per Merriam-Webster, states
Wait...so that means no more lemon and potato ''pizza'' experiments? I agree more or less with rest of the rules you wrote, except maybe limiting that only Full members can participate and vote. Brand new, newbies and Junior members should not be allowed, but everyone else should. So the user with the most wins wants to readjust the rules right after losing? It's Italian thing... good thing if this year winner don't wake up one day with horse head in his bed

There is no way of proving it, of course, but I am sure I spotted a few professionally made pizzas in the contest. Having your auntie helping you bake a pizza is a thing, buying that and taking a picture is a different thing. Of course the pic in process help sort this kind of things, as for example professional oven should help clarify a pizza was not home baked… Wait...so that means no more lemon and potato ''pizza'' experiments? NO Brand new, newbies and Junior members should not be allowed, but everyone else should.
You are proposing also members can vote? Well, I was trying to prevent farming accounts, but I guess farming a few Members account can be difficult as well, up to contest organisers. Of course higher ranks were always meant to vote… It's Italian thing... good thing if this year winner don't wake up one day with horse head in his bed Who told you didn’t happen? What happens in the Italian board stay in the Italian board.

Hey is it too late to join in, this is my entry, I did all the work myself, honest to Joe I. The big bang (how it all started): II. The ingredients (created some years later): III. The pizza dough: IV. Before putting it in the oven: V. Final product: Did I win? What did I win? I also have photo proof of Jesus Christ enjoying a portion of the pizza, let me know if its necessary to submit.

If the contest is between AI cooks, you have a good chance of winning. Mainly because the oven managed to transform a round pizza when it went in, to a B-shaped one when it came out.

I did ask ChatGPT to make me a recipe for the most horrible pizza ever and it did a pretty good job, recommending catsup and mayonnaise for the pizza sauce, mashed canned fish and durian fruit for toppings, and limburger cheese. "If you have dried fish flakes available, sprinkle them over the pizza to intensify the fishy aroma."

By chance, before noticing the watermark, I was immediately taken aback by the raw pizza and the cooked pizza. No one would go to the trouble of "decorating" the part of the pizza they were going to cut. In addition, the shape of the pizza has to be worked on, before going into the oven and not after. Well, you know these details better than I do.
