I recently launched
Hirocoin which uses the X11 hashing solution created by Evan Duffield and used in
Darkcoin. I choose this hashing solution as it is GPU friendly and a good alternative needs to be the new home of GPU miners when the Scrypt ASICs hit. KNc took $2m in pre-orders for their 100Mh Scrypt ASIC and we can see that the Litecoin difficulty has doubled in a month, perhaps due to some of those ASICs running in labs. There are alternatives like Scypt-Jane and Adaptive-N but these are somewhat unfirendly to GPU miners with variable N. X11 lets the GPUs run cool with lower power usage and generates several times the hash of Scrypt.
There is no doubt that GPU miners will need to find an alternative and I look to make X11 what they are looking for. GPU miners leaving Bitcoin for Litecoin is what made Litecoin as popular as it is today.
To start with X11 needs a logo which gives us an opportunity for some fun. If interested then please post your X11 logos here and the best one will receive 0.2BTC. The logo should be somewhat serious and nothing garish. In my mind I see a black circle with X11 in white writing but somehow awesome. I probably imagined this as it would be within my skill set, but I'm not a designer and could be way off the mark. Do not let my idea limit you but thought I would share my idea.
