How is there not a Bitcoin Pizza Day discussion yet??? Please share a link if my searching abilities are simply subpar...

I'm also surprised by the lack of news on the subject... perhaps everyone is simply waiting for Friday???

Especially, given that this will be ten years! I would think a larger celebration might be in the works (to be fair, I failed to realize it was ten years until today... haha).

Here's all a Google News search yields on the subject:

English:
https://decrypt.co/29525/500000-bitcoin-stash-from-satoshi-era-just-moved

Pretty cool that someone from the original month of bitcoin genesis has moved some. Might be Craig Wright, but we'll see.

https://www.forexlive.com/Education/!/simplefx-celebrates-bitcoin-pizza-day-with-50-spread-cashbacks-20200514

Not sure what a 50% Spread Cashbacks is...

https://capital.com/bitcoin-forecast-2020-what-to-expect

gotta love price predictions...

https://www.bitcoinmarketjournal.com/bitcoin-remains-firm-while-transaction-fees-rise/

High fees are a bummer, which is why I'm excited the lightning network is up and running!

One in Spanish came up:
https://cointimes.com.br/10-anos-de-pizza-day-o-que-isso-representa-para-voce/

Anywho, in my local news, I'm excited to share that Scratch Restaurant continues to accept bitcoin and will be accepting lightning network payments as well! I plan to get take out from there, although I think they may even be opening for eat in (at 40% capacity) tomorrow!

One thing that most people don't realize about Laszlo and the Bitcoin pizza ordeal is that he didn't just buy 2 Large Pizzas ( Papa Johns too, the most awful pizza you can buy here in the United States ) for 10,000 bitcoins, he stated here on bitcointalk that he spent at least 30,000 bitcoins on several purchases of pizza.  Not sure if all Papa Johns or not.  Crazy stuff. Some call him an idiot for this, which is simply wrong.  He was the first to use it as a means of exchange and that sure is worth celebrating.

We can't really blame him for sure for what he just did. Bitcoin doesn't have that much value way back before, and because of him buying pizza's for tons of bitcoins, it introduces the value of bitcoin to people. But try to do the same thing today, buy items, goods and services through bitcoin as it is the best means to introduce bitcoin to people. By simply asking if they are accepting bitcoin, it will already trigger their mind what bitcoin is. The bitcoin-pizza event was truly historic and worth to commemorate, I hope soon, we'll not going to rely on the dollar value of bitcoin, thus, with it intrinsic value.

Papa Jones is not that aweful bro. We have it here in my country as well and they are certainly better than Dominoz!

I too am sure he is not stupid. Because we need to look at the date of his purchases. That time bitcoin was priced in cents so what he did is OK. Definitely he had missed his chance to become a billionaire but that's probably his destiny. But it surely calls for a celebration because that's the first ever incident where bitcoin used as a medium of exchange.

When I booked my first car 3 years back, I actually spoke to the Nissan sales manager to use bitcoin for the booking amount. But no one actually knew anything about bitcoin at all so my persuasion failed. But at least I tried.

For those people calling him stupid must be out of their mind. Maybe their just jealous that first adopters have a lots of BTC on their early days. Well thats because if their interest, and no one can possibly think of that during that time other than him. This is remarkable event for those truly appreciate the existence of BTC and will continue until the end.

OP just wait, tons of post will probably be spamming this section about pizza, but good thing you already started one. We still have few hours utmost before that and Id like greet everyone a Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day!

Thanks for the reminder. I did one before, I'll do it again.

We can't really blame him for sure for what he just did.

Blame him? You've missed the mark by some distance, or you're reading seriously misinformed news about him. People celebrate him. And it's why people are misled thinking holding is all that's needed to increase price (just as people think token burning is some hoodoo magic to magically pump price). You gotta spend and use shit to give the shit value.

Man Papa John's is the most dog shit pizza you could possibly eat.  Okay that is of course an objective opinion but I sure as hell can't agree it's better than Dominos.  I'm curious if you don't mind sharing what country you are in?  I live in Chicago, which I would argue is the 3rd pizza capital of the world ( Italy, New York, Chicago) so I don't eat any of that crap.  I'm however quite lucky.

But agreed, he is legendary for establishing the first transaction using bitcoin as a means of currency exchange.  Though 30k bitcoins is equal to $272,843,056 million right now. Wow.

For those people calling him stupid must be out of their mind.

With that logic everyone in the world is stupid for not buying Bitcoin or not mining together with Satoshi. Or maybe Bitcoin will be worth millions an anyone who spends it today is "stupid". Besides, Laszlo was an early adopter (he even communicated with Satoshi and contributed to Bitcoin development) who like still holds some coins, and no one knows if he rebought the coins that he spend or not.

Being the First Person to prove how valuable this crypto currency is meaning He can be a Bitcoin Hero as the legacy
remains until now though His work is too different from what people are doing now in which
uses bitcoin for HOLDING while He uses this for transaction .

He will never be forgotten and you are correct that this is worth celebrating here in crypto community and even
outside for all the people who support crypto and Bitcoin.

For those people calling him stupid must be out of their mind.
and no one knows if he rebought the coins that he spend or not.
This is the most interesting thing,do we have some research what really happen about those bitcoin?if they
remain in Papa Johns wallet or bought back to Lazz's wallet hope there will be some clarification
about this very controversial topic bitcoin community ever had.

For those people calling him stupid must be out of their mind.

It's so Ironic how some people call him stupid when the dude is one of the very fundamental why Bitcoin has value today. Besides, he used the technology on how it's supposed to be used instead of hoarding like everybody is doing today.
Isn't it the other way around? We, as hodlers are the ones who's stupid for not using Bitcoin to purchase something from the merchants to further widen the adaption and better circulation of Bitcoin in the cryptocurrency market.

Nevertheless, pizza day should always be remembered and celebrated.

There is a thread in Meta and a channel contest on Discord just for Bitcointalk, in case anybody really wants to talk about Bitcoin Pizza. I do not know why it is in Other though, for me this is absolutely a Bitcoin discussion, no question. Just the same as we would commemorate the first block, we should commemorate the first real world use purchase!

Perhaps it was shadowed by the (1) halving or post-halving (2) that 50 BTC movement.

I think there's more discussion last year as compare to today. I agree that it's going to be part of bitcoin's history and Laszlo's name one of the most recognisable.

And for the record, he also bought Pizza using Lightning Network: https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/lightning-dev/2018-February/001044.html.

If you're looking for a cool Bitcoin Pizza wallet - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5249731.0

I think it would be wrong to say he was stupid considering the value of Bitcoin at that time. In my opinion he was the one who started the first Bitcoin adoption initiative. There might be others who might have done the same thing but he became famous because of the quantity of Bitcoin he used to buy those pizzas.

This issue is repeated every year. Sad but yes, somebody was deprived of having a great fortune today thanks to what they did years ago.

But how many people really hold the Bitcoins they bought in those years? So, is it different from buying pizza and selling those BTCs? Laszlo might have bought their pizza that day with BTC and then bought more BTC at the same price.

He gave us good material to talk and be surprised, but I think it's not that bad. I don't think anyone predicted that Bitcoin would be worth 20K someday in those years. (maybe McAfee Tongue)

I'm also surprised by the lack of news on the subject... perhaps everyone is simply waiting for Friday???
There were some articles that were published earlier and that's just a few days ago. I've seen only few of them but now, if you'll look to the news with the keyword of Bitcoin Pizza day, you'll see them published just few hours ago. Here are those early articles that remembered this legendary day and published their articles few days ago.

ProBit Exchange Features Mukbang AMA on Its Very First Online Meetup on Bitcoin Pizza Day - published yesterday.
