I never put in any 2 step verification codes or such in the old wallet, so they shouldnt be able to do anything with my "new" wallet, am I correct?
You must clarify the bolded part above it seems that you didn't understand what BitCryptex said above.
Do you have a 2fa verification from your old wallet?
(I just want to clarify this)Electrum 4.0.0 is considered as the latest Electrum(This is the fake one)
So what you mean is you didn't put 2fa codes from your old wallet? Which is below Electrum 3.3.4?
If your old wallet is not generated with a 2fa code from Electrum, it means that you are using a standard wallet?
You can recover your wallet if you have a backup seed or wallet file. Do you have both of these?
Make sure before you make a move if you don't have a backup seed(It's a 12-word phrase), make sure to get a copy of the wallet file.
You can find it from
\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets (or %APPDATA%\Electrum\wallets)
And save it somewhere safe.
Now, I suggest you better to install Electrum to a new PC or newly formatted PC and install latest Electrum from
https://download.electrum.org/Then transfer the wallet file on the wallet folder the same as the location path above. Or import the seed phrase if you have the backup seed(it's a 12-word phrase).
Then update here if your balance still there. That's why I ask this because many people who victim with phishing or fake Electrum after they install the fake Electrum all of their funds are gone.
