With the development of the economy, BTC is now gaining more and more attention, and it is not disappointed by the people who chose it. From being questioned at the beginning, to a large number of people investing now, it has become a popular investment product. I first learned that BTC was recommended to me by my friend W (who was the administrator of the Monetary Authority) at that time, and let me also invest, but I thought it was a hype May be cheated (this has become a big pity for me). Later, I started investing in 2013, when I bought 100 BTC and sold it at the price of 16,000 in 2017. Now my friend W has recommended a new cryptocurrency to me. Should I invest?

Well your friend is really good to have suggested bitcoin during that time. If you dont mind, can you share us what your friend's suggestion this time? If its an altcoin its better to have some decent concept and use case, as there are tons of projects in the market now. If its a new project just be careful, too many projects have been died out for a very short period of time and gone. New projects are only good for short time, so you must know if the project is capable of stayin long term like btc did.

Worth or not depend with how serious with your altcoin choose when investing, we found many good project not serious with their coin and only get moment just few hour after listing and next time become shit coin, many developer just take profit only without care how their coin become at the future shit or worth.

What's that new coin? If you've been in the space since 2013, you should already probably know by now how to smell scam projects, are something that you're not sure about. Make sure to always check on their background before investing any big amount. There are platforms that has not done an ICO but has proven that the the technology is real, and the business development is massive. Their is proof of validation if big companies have expressed interest in investing.Like Nestle, Volve, and Geely lined up.

PLEASE! DYOR. Even if your friend was a good guy and it doesn't give a guarantee for you if you will be choosing the right project. You must try to decide based on your decision after you have already researched the project.
DYOR is a must.

You should not even trust your friend and if that was a good project and it will worth to buy.

Most of the new cryptocurrencies nowadays are a bunch of crap, I see a lot trying to launch a coin with a high price, BTC took years to grow the price and some projects want to start with a good price in weeks, almost all fails and devs run away.

You need to ask your friend details about that project. Ask him to show good features of that project and prove why you should invest in it. You also need to make research yourself about that project, to check if you friend was lying. After that, if you feel that project is good, you can invest in it.

It is important that a good project or not, if it is a bad project you should not buy. I advise you never to trust your friends. When they introduce any coin or project to you, you also need to analyze carefully before investing. Check the roadmap of that project or coin, if it has a reasonable system and a good team, it's a project worth investing in.

I hope not.
Buy it. Not make it like gold which you will just store in your vault.
Investing is not the right word for it. Support is the best one.

You are buying it to support the incoming change in the financial industry. The usage and being the normal kind of transaction for everything that you will buy.
Especially now in the online world.

The price in 2013 averages around 30 - 100 USD. Let's just say 100 USD. So if you had 100 BTC, you invested around $10000. And when you sold it in 2017, depending on the month, I would say the estimate around November, where it's priced around USD 8000 per BTC. You would have totaled $800,000. If you have that kind amount of money, you wouldn't need to ask about investments in general. You could just buy what you want and invest $10000 like what you did.

This is not a recommendation to buy whatever coin that is being shilled to you, it's just common sense. You have a lot of money, and you could invest in anything that you want. Just make sure it's a worthy coin and not some random shitcoin.

Now my friend W has recommended a new cryptocurrency to me. Should I invest?
Depends on how much you trust your friend. For bitcoin it is a no-brainer that one should always buy bitcoin at low and hold it till it reaches new highs to sell.

But it is different with altcoin and by altcoin I mean "any" coin other than bitcoin but is a cryptocurrency. They are not a good store of value for the future. If you are looking to invest, buy bitcoin than any altcoin.

Just to keep your friend happy, take their advice and say that you will think about it. Do your own research on the project before your invest anything at all. Majority of altcoins fail because they have no real product or market to develop on and they are not legal securities. So if the project owners decide to sell, then you will be the one in a soup.

Anyway, it's up to you if you want to invest in altcoin... But I hope you will not buy a fake and scam cryptocurrency, below are signs you must avoid it:

1. Bitcoin fork or altcoin fork (e.g. Bitcoin SV)
2. Plagiarized Whitepaper and Fake team behind the project
3. Offering to get money faster by buy their coins/tokens
4. Avoid any "hype" coins/tokens name to get more traffic (e.g. Corona coin, Face mask )
5. Less explanation with many grammatical or spelling errors.

Just for reminder, suggestion or recommendation from someone is not always 100% true. Everyone can makes mistake, even he is a great analysis or trusted friends. You shouldn't always following his suggestion if you think the project is not good, just choose what you think is right. DWYOR and DYOR to choose altcoin, but the safest cryptocurrency is always BTCitcoin.

A lot of new cryptocurrencies nowadays are just a scam project. The important thing that you have to remember is that every time you are about to buy any coin. You need to check their project plan before investing your money. It is worthy to invest in a new potential project. However, it would be a waste of money if you invest in a scam one.

people have different opinions about this. I myself think that it depends on the project. if you're not sure about that, then choose something more promising than that. many crypto currently has greater potential. most people will give a conclusion Do with your own risk.

What is the name of the new project that your friend introduced to you? It will be easier if you can drop the name on here, my advice is to be very careful what you wish for, if the coin is not in top 10 then it's more risky and dangerous, better to diversify and build yourself a portfolio, don't put your eggs in one basket, do research on the projects too before buying

Are you sure this happened in 2017? If I am not wrong 100 btc would be worth much more than 16,000 in 2017. Which cryptocurrency is your friend asking you to invest in. I think you should look around and research it before putting anything on it.

Exactly, I always go with some genuine alts which means I prefer investing in top 25 coins in the CMC list like TRON, Stellar, DASH etc. I do not want to take risk in new projects and don't want to lose my hard-earned money as most of them suppose to be scammers. So it's better to go with some top coins and expect some good return..
