A lot of users used to complain something on Reputation & Scam Accusation board and look for DT member to send negative feedback the complained user. But do not you know anyone can send feedback? If you believe someone is a scammer, you can send negative feedback. Why wait for DT members? Because your feedback will not be visible?
It will be visible to you at least and you can get better trading experience if you send feedback frequently (accurate feedback). In addition, if you send accurate feedback, you will add you to their trust lost which at the end may push you to be a DT member.

If I am not mistaken, aside from providing accurate feedback from other users, a person must be able to comply to these different requirement from theymos right? Thus, if all the requirements are fulfilled, you are now eligible to enter the lottery draw for DT1 isn't it?

As a special exception to the normal algorithm for determining a user's trust network, if you are on the default trust list ("DT1") but more other DT1 members distrust you than explicitly trust you, then it is as if you are distrusted by the default trust list for all purposes except for this very DT1-composition determination.

So if someone on DT1 is doing something stupid, you can ask other DT1 members to distrust them.

You can view any page as if you were using the default trust settings by putting ;dt at the end of the URL. Eg. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=35;dt

I will periodically (maybe every month) be reconstructing the default trust list to include everyone who matches these criteria:
 - If rank was determined solely using earned merit, then you must be of at least Member rank.
 - You must have been online sometime within the last 3 days.
 - Your trust list must include at least 10 users, not including ~distrust entries.
 - You must not be banned or manually blacklisted from selection.
 - You must have posted sometime within the last 30 days.
 - You must have at least 10 people directly trusting you each with an earned merit of at least 10, not including merit you yourself sent. These "votes" are limited.
 - You must have at least 2 people directly trusting you with an earned merit of at least 250, not including merit you yourself sent. These "votes" are limited.

I should mention that I was talking about DT2 member which doesn't need to fulfill the criteria you shared above. If you give accurate feedback and any DT1 member include you on their trust lost, you will be DT2 member without any futher calculation. But if some other DT exclude you from the list and you have a total score of -1 (minus one), you will not be DT 2.

I agree that even if you have a lower rank member give bad feed back on your own, people will look on the trust page of the one that you gave feedback and if they see bad reports on the account and with a link attach it that will give them warning not to transact to that person, even newbies can give feedback as long it's accurate.

This should not be a problem, because for more specific things such as fraud attempts, merit abuse, people also need to ask the help of DT members to tag the members even though we can do it ourselves. Accurate negative feedback must be seen by anyone in the forum because people must be vigilant before trading with users who have negative feedback. Indeed, anyone can send this feedback even though we are not DT members, but forum users must be able to see it clearly and we need DT help for this.

Not all DT2 members are those who have the habit of sending negative feedback accurately to other users and I think it doesnt have to be, but someone will have the opportunity to become a member of DT2 if they often contribute to forums such as scam detector.

Shouldn't this be moved on Meta? Do you also have proofs that there are users whom complains in a certain matter? Also, at my first time here in the forum, I've also sent feed backs despite having the knowledge that no matter how relative and valid my reference would be, it will still depend on the DTs. Also, there are no problems if someone wants to give negative feed backs on someone he thinks deserves to have one or not. They can accuse anyone, as long as they have proof and doesnt have subjective reasons behind.

That's right anyone can send/leave feedback (positive, negative, or neutral) as long as it is accurate and should have supported links of proof regarding to your feedback. But I slightly don't encourage everyone to do this thing, it might mislead and probably abuse the system. We have a court there, (Scam Accusations and Reputation) before you leave feedback by your own just bring it on the court, drop your compiled documents and DT members will be looking to it if there someone that scammed or any violation that deserves to have negative feedback.

These are well explained in giving feedbacks.

Positive (shown as +1)

• If you made a small deal with someone, that doesn't deserve positive feedback.
• If you made a deal in which you risked a substantial amount of money with someone, and all went well, that deserves positive feedback.
• If someone is a nice guy (or girl), that doesn't deserve positive feedback.
• If you believe someone can be trusted, even when you didn't trade with him, that too deserves positive feedback.

Neutral (shown as =1)

• Use Neutral feedback for anything that doesn't mean someone can or can't be trusted. This can be good feedback, for instance when someone helped you out.
• I think Neutral Feedback is currently undervalued on Bitcointalk. It's a great tool to de-escalate without drastic consequences. Please use it when appropriate.

Negative (shown as -1)

• If you believe someone is a scammer, or someone is likely to scam, that deserves negative feedback. Please provide evidence.
• If you really hate someone and he's a terrible troll, that does not deserve negative feedback.

Not to mention the rule in this forum. Psychologically speaking, there are many factors why a certain user is posting in scam accusation and waiting for DT members to send feedback than sending the potential scammers directly.

1. Ignorance of trust flags - I know that many of us here are still don't know the real use of trust flags because they don't read this link: Trust Flags

2. Validity - For them, a certain accusation is more validity and solid if the DT members are the one that will send feedback.

3. Fear of mistake - whether you say it or not, but there are users are still fear to send feedback because they might have a mistake in sending or accusation. No one shouldn't fear of it, specially if there is a STRONG evidence provided.

4. Don't want to be involved - though it is rarely to happen, I think there are some of us still don't want to involve in drama's. Specially if there account will become subjected also in scam.

5. For everyone's awareness - if you notify a DT member to put a negative trust on that user/coin/exchange. Probably it will make a scene and the good thing of that, it will also make an awareness for everyone to stay away from shit scammers in this industry.


No matter what is the reason, we should respect them. They are free to make a thread and wait for DT members since searching for scammers are difficult to find. Let us just be thankful that they shared it in the community.

If your aim is to become a DT member just because you want your feedbacks to be seen for other members I think leaving feedback for any scams or potential fraud you see is not enough for you to be part of anyone's trust list. Leaving negative feedback alone won't make yourself established or at least be notice to anyone, the missing recipe here is of course creating your own thread in either the scam accusation board or the reputation board depending on what you will be reporting which will support your negative feedback, I personally use the thread I created as a reference for the feedback I have left for that member so that others would see the point or my findings for my accusation. Other than that you should also start creating a flag against that user right after you created your thread so that others can easily support or oppose your findings, this is also a good way for non-DT members to be involved in your thread.

Note:
I'm not teaching you how to become a DT member but instead I am teaching you how to make your feedbacks more effective the next time you leave one. Trust related threads are a helpful way of seeing both sides of the story or at best clarify some things for the accused so they have a chance for their negative feedback to be removed, leaving them negative feedback without any kind of explanation is just a really bad way of using the Trust system of the forum.

In my opinion, it is wrong. People should add someone based on their feedback sent. For example, I want to add people whose feedback I think enough and I can be beneficiary in trading here. Sending feedback more frequently is the step to be DT, but that should be anyone only goal.

Yeah, you definitely shouldn't hesitate to give a user bad rep after they scammed you or someone else. Your hesitation might cause other people to be scammed by this person, since they check the user's profile and don't see any negative trust. So never hesitate to give a negative feedback to anyone

I think that you may have missed my point, just simply roaming around the forum as an untrusted member leaving feedbacks without any kind of explanation whatsoever wouldn't be enough for anyone to trust you. I mean how can you justify the feedback you have sent without even explaining it somehow aside from using the "comments" part of the feedback. What will you be using as a reference linked in the feedback? Not unless a thread was already created against that person or something already proving his guilt you won't be able to provide any references for your feedback. Creating threads for the feedback you leave is something you need to start doing as not only your hidden feedback will be notice by others but it's main purpose is also to provide an in-depth explanation of your feedback as well give transparency for everyone.

Want more proof on why leaving feedbacks straight up isn't enough? Here is a thread talking about a member leaving negative feedbacks without proper explanation and reference links on why he is leaving them. Also literally all of the flags he have created isn't supported by anyone except him. Simply leaving feedbacks won't really be enough for you to be trusted by DT members here since you won't really be notice by them in the first place.

Trust system and feedback system are two connected systems.
Everybody here is invited to use the feedback system to share a trust opinion. This is not essentially related to the trust system. You don't have to be a dt member; i saw many people created a new account just to leave a feedback on someone's profile.
If you are a permanent forum user, and by adding more accurate trade feedbacks, you have a great chance to reach the DT level when more users add you to their trust list.

We also need to read through the feedback, understand and contextualize the comments. For example, I’ve got a couple of negative feedback comments under my Untrusted Feedback section, as a result of futile retaliation for calling out scammers on my behalf. If you scroll through my Sent Feedback, you get to understand the full context.

There are also plenty of non-commerce/scam feedback sent to and fro in general terms. Again, reading the feedback is mandatory to assess the real situation (and not just make judgement based on the Trust Score number values themselves).

I partly disagree with your statement. In my opinion, people should not use feedback system to post personal opinion about someone they don't like. Any negative feedback shoud be based on strict facts or at least on founded accusations. If the person you are tagging is a proven scammer, feedback is justified and helpful for other forum users. If he is likely to scam anyone and it based on something other than merely a personal opinion, feedback should be negative or neutral, it serves like a warning to prevent frauds. If it is just a personal opinion about someone, it is better to not touch feedback system at all.
