   I'm not easy with the concept of getting an /unlimited amount of merits to send so this Thread is not for applying for a MS position.




  I found myself near 0 sMerits and get a bit frustrated when I'm finding a post that I want to merit and I can't.
 So I would like to apply for as we can call that (A little pack of sMerits), 50 or 100.
 Maybe that should be the first time that a thing like that will happen, so,
 
 Inspired by the Topic of TheBeardedBaby, I'm thinking of starting a topic for applications of users to  " [ sMerits-Packs ] ".

If you are applying to be a merit source, you will need to do a lot more than that. Like state why you deserve to be a merit source a long side quoting at least 10 quality posts that are merit worthy but haven't received merits.

You should also be aware that Theymos takes time to select Merit sources (can even take a year) so the best solution for your current issue is to report merit worthy posts to current merit sources

It's not s merit source application. You must have to follow the rules of merit source aapplication to be considered.
Collect 10 posts and quote them here in your application. This is the basic.
You asked for 50/100 merits. As far as I know theymos has given 10 source merits per month to some of the merit sources at the beginning.

Some of us have done a little recollection of good french posts that have not been merited.

Aside from having 10 unique quality post that he merited. He should also try to clean his name with this accusation:

It isn't good to see a merit source applicant to have an issue regarding with the abuse in the forum. If you clarify the issue that made by other user on that thread, I think Theymos will give you a chance to be a merit source. But for now, I think it is not good for you to apply even you are a good analyzer of a quality post.

Merit source don't have unlimited amount of sMerit either

Well, technically it's kinda sorta unlimited. As long as you're a merit source you can't run out of sMerits, not permanently anyway.

Although merit and trust are two unrelated issues. But do you think it could also be one of the factors to decide who is more worthy? I see some negative feedback on your profile, then there are some issues with your reputation. Nothing really good  You also haven't earned much merit since the merit system was born. I do not see much opportunity for you to be accepted

This is not how it works here, tbh. And btw, how long did it take you to create this post? The layout looks pretty horrible and it looks like you wrote all of this in less than two minutes. Why should theymos support someone with valuable sMerits, if the person is too lazy to create a decent application thread? You didn't even mention/quote which posts you want to merit and why you want to merit them at all.

There are several high quality applications out there, you should check those and then decide if you want to create a "real" merit source application or if you want to close this thread.

I am pretty sure, a special sMerit bonus by theymos for someone with a pretty bad reputation won't happen today nor in the future.

The amount is unlimited, however there is the velocity factor. Like unlimited internet - you don't have an explicit cap in GB but the speed of your connection defines how much of that unlimited amount you can actually use.

In general, that's how these applications work I agree, but Theymos has also been known to tap people to be merit sources without them even applying, like he did a year or two ago.  That was sort of an unusual case, however.  I think Theymos suddenly realized that he needed way more merit distribution than he was getting and made merit sources out of some members that he handpicked based on his own criteria.  The forum doesn't seem to be in that kind of crisis right now, though, and I would also suggest that OP follow the standard way of applying to be a merit source (and not the lazy way).

Why should theymos support someone with valuable sMerits, if the person is too lazy to create a decent application thread?

Good point about those merits having value and why Theymos shouldn't just hand sMerits out to anyone willy-nilly.  That said, I think OP's intent is probably sincere and I doubt he's looking to abuse the merit system.

The German Board is fantastic to earn merit.

Merit/Post ratio

Since i made charts for posts and merit, might as well compare that data to get  merit/post ratio. I must say that results are surprising, and for some boards might be even misleading (e.g. Dutch board had quite a few posts deleted compared to their activity, and that might pump their ratio). Like in the post chart, some boards are excluded due negative post count, or in Hebrew case not getting even single merit.
I expect this chart to change quite a lot each month and shouldn't be  taken too seriously, as many things can affect it, like deleted posts, merit giveaways etc.

Bis auf weiteres dürft Ihr eure eigenen Posts ohne Titel verlinken & ohne Angabe der vorhandenen Merits, einfach nur der Link reicht. Es dürfen auch mehr als 10 Posts sein.
Also bitte einfach eine Liste von Links zu eigenen Posts und unten drunter eine Angabe, wieviele Merit ihr insgesamt haben möchtet. Ich werde dann der Liste selbst den Merit geben, anstelle der einzelnen Posts. Ansonsten gilt weiterhin: nur deutschsprachige Posts!

In addition to that, I dont see problem with the merit distribution in the German board. qwk is a merit source, his time is limited and he has no time to read most of the posts in the German section. That's why he opened his Merit thread in 2018, long time before I even registered here. Users are allowed to link their best local German posts and he will review them and reward them if they are merit-worthy. I don't see a problem with that. He is doing his job as a merit source. He obviously won't reward shit-posts or spam.

The German Board is fantastic to earn merit. It has twice the amount of merit per posts than the French board.

It would be fair, if you would also say that there are several month in which the Merit/Post-ratio in the German and French section is almost the same.

Obviously you didn't count because this is nonsense. Please check the dates, on which I got the merit for the posts you are referring too. Also please feel free to go through my posts and let me know which posts aren't merit-worthy in your opinion. Please feel free to send me a PM any time and I am willing to discuss every single post with you, but I guess the "Merit-Source" application thread of another user isn't the right place for that.  


All in all, don't get me wrong. I would highly appreciate if the French local section would get additional merit sources. You guys have several high qualified users in your section. I am just not supporting this application, that's all (It also might be because I still have nightmares, because of the f*cking gore content OP posted recently).

Indeed, it is.
If you create a meaningful, helpful, useful post in the German board (apart from the shady area called "Altcoins") nowadays, you're probably much more likely to be rewarded with merit than in some other local boards.
That hasn't always been the case, though, and it was hard work over years to reach that point.
I sincerely hope that the French will get there as well, and wish you all the best luck.
BTW, I recall venturing into the French and Italian boards for a while to help out, but that was a long time ago, and my French and Italian are not actually that good.

But aside from the local boards, let's face it:
"Meta" is the place to go if you wanna make serious merit, and has been for a long time

Turns out, i've been merited overnight for one of my posts in the French section so I can merit your great constructed post.
I'm wearing as a personal message "C.D.P.E.M" it is an e acronym for  "club of the poor people in available smerit to send" this is a club I started in the french board a joke for people that have less than 1 smerit. 
I'm now at the limit, so I'm glag your post is worthy of the only smerit I got.

This is something we are aware, I'm trying to see how we can increase the quality of our board, and have people to cycle more the merit.
I did an anlyse in the french board, and found out that 95% of all the merit sent in the board are from the MS and the ripple effect.
(what I mean is that only 5% of the smerit sent comes from smerit earned in the english part that are then used/sent in the french part).




Indeed this is off-topic, but I guess it is also a healthy talk to have about the way each board sees merit and merit use.

We are trying to work on this, without putting more pressure on our MS (that is also our moderator).
Lifting the level of a board isn't an easy job. But eventually, one day we will on par with you guys.

Since @Danydee is asking for "merit pack" instead being merit source, it might be a good idea if you or someone else from French board use those posts and make proper merit source application.
I've been following local board activity for some time now and making those overviews, and it is really obvious that despite constantly being among the most active local boards,  French one is seriously under merited, if we compare it to the rest of the local boards. Sure, merit/post ratio might change a lot each month due various reasons, but French board is consistently at the bottom 4-5.

This is something we are aware, I'm trying to see how we can increase the quality of our board, and have people to cycle more the merit.

I think that main issue here is that you probably have only 1 merit source in your local board, and it is inadequate for board of your size and activity, imho. Just look at this lists of meriters in the period between May 1st -May 31st, it is obvious that one user carries your whole local board. Probably the only way to sort that is to get 1 more merit source, but for that to happen, someone has to apply, as I somehow doubt that theymos will make an exception and introduce "merit packs".

You have quality members there, and I am sure if one of them applies, it will get support, and sooner or later merit status.
