How can I import cryptocurrency prices in excel sheet?

I am looking for a way to import cryptocurrency prices into an excel sheet to monitor some currencies in my preference. I did not find a good article in the web or I have missed. Can someone share me a detailed way or link me an article which is easy to understand? Because I am not expert on this things.

What coins are you after? I use investing.com to get bitcoin daily data normally every so often (they have weekly and monthly options). You just download as a csv and import into a spreadsheet. You could also try getting data from exchanges like coinbase if they have the facilities for it (not sure if they do or not)...,

I am trying to get price of Bitcoin and ETH  for example, actually it is bigger because I am looking for monitoring couple of more currency. Is it possible to get data from web as I found an option in excel? I would like to get data from cmc if possible because I need more currencies to look at.

You can get any data from an public API to your excel file by using the option: Data -> Get Data -> From Other Sources -> From Web.

It shows some examples with CoinMarketCap and Coincap, but it should work with pretty much every API.

If you are using Google Spreadsheet then they already have extensions which can be found in their add-ons tab

Add-ons > Get add-ons > Search for "CRYPTO"

You will be seeing a list of extensions related to CRYPTO. In the past I have used CRYPTOFINANCE. Try that if you want to.

Here is an excel sheet that imports the price of the top 100 coins on CMC > https://easyupload.io/tdvt0w

It has an auto-update every 60 seconds, and it updates once you open the file (outside of the 60 seconds range), there are other settings you can play with under Data tab > properties, it's pretty much the public API TryNinja mentioned above, with a little bit more settings.

The problem with this native excel import function is that you can't change much in the layout and content, so if you delete the volume column for an example, it will come back the moment it refreshes, it will even override any data you enter, so what I usually do is create a separate sheet for what I need to work on, something like this.





You can copy the columns/cells you need from Sheet1 using CRL+C and then on Sheet2 you right-click > Paste special > Paste link, this way you end up with 1 messy sheet that has all the data you need and don't need and one nice clean sheet which contains only the data you need and it will automatically update from sheet1.

Cryptocurrency prices are always dancing and to grab them every moment, the host of your excel sheet must always be online as well. This can be done through API with Google Sheet as many have already suggested, though I'd say updating a MySQL DB would be better and easier than updating an excel sheet. But, you have a far easier alternative that serves the same purpose.
