Some tips that you provide are very useful and can be used as a reference as a way to secure a personal wallet.
But all also returned to the personal wallet user. Sometimes people who are too careless to keep their wallet's private key, don't secure the device they are using like using an antivirus.

malware, ransomware, phishing lurk every online user. Downloading the application on several sites can be the cause of the virus to enter. Because I have experienced when the computer is infected by ransomware, all data will be locked.
The most important thing is to stay alert and use double security to protect your personal wallet and other important things from being hacked.

My first time doing bounty was a disaster using my real email was a bad thing I did. I was flooded by fake offers that cause my email to be full of messages that lead to my unread real email to be buried in deep pages. That email cannot be used now because it always received emails from unknown sources. I cannot tell who's who on that email I used. I should have chosen another email for bounties but it's already too late. Now I'm no longer doing bounties but the email that I used is receiving fake offers every day. this is why people should be aware to not use or publicize their personal email because things can be rough if someone copied it and sent it to those spammers.

These things happen a lot. Those who get hacked by giving their private keys are just plain stupid as a dog. I mean, who in their right mind would even think of sharing that kind of information to other people? It would be just like giving to others your card details and giving them authorization to take everything you have. Not that I condone other stupidity or carelessness that leads to being hacked, just saying that this is the worst. Anyways, you get my point.

You could also get hacked if you used custodial wallet because your private keys is being held by a third party that doesn't give you a full control on your funds, so there are chances that hackers could steal your funds. But you can still send and receive payments, it is the reason why I only used custodial wallets when I need to withdraw some of my funds.

- Always download your waller software from the Official website and make sure to verify the GPG signatures before installing so that you can be sure that you are installing an authentic version and not a look-alike malware.
- Always check the domain names and make sure that you enter/type the correct domain name. Don't click on links from Google Ads, emails etc and end up in a look-alike phishing website with closely misspelt domain names.
- Its always better to avoid Web Wallets as they are more prone to hacks

Usually the wallet is successfully hacked because of lack of caution and lack of security to maintain the wallet that we have.
My advice is always enable 2FA in exchanges, change passwords regularly, use premium anti-virus and don't click unknown
links. Don't tell any story regarding our private key to others. If these tips are done well, then we can avoid hackers.

1. Make sure the wallet security feature has added an authentication.
2. Avoid any messages related to private keys, don't respond.
3. Join only airdrops from good projects, but use an alternative email.
4. Do not install third-party wallet applications that are not recommended.

The only thing necessary for me to prevent this kind of situation where your wallets are getting hacked is, never used other gadgets or device to access your wallet. That's very risky even if you know the person that owns the device that you are using. Don't trust anyone when it comes to cryptocurrency especially when we talk about digital wallets.

Every beginners or newbies should know the importance of that and they should know how to improve their security. It is easy to make a digital wallet that has a high security, and it depends on you if you will use other gadgets. But if i were you, i will only access my digital wallet only when I'm using my devices.

Unfortunately, security is not only issue for beginnners and newbies, many crypto users have this problem and often forget their own safety. They trust too much not only to other people but also to different platforms, they share their access data and don't protect their wallets in adequate way. I think that awareness about security and how to protect yourself again hacker attacks and other illegal activities is still very low among crypto users.

It is not just about the wallet you’re using being secure. There are some ways that people make mistakes and when they lose their coins they try to blame the developers of wallets, when they are clearly the ones that got involved in things that led to their being hacked and them losing all their funds.

I have seen many people complain about wallets that I have been using for years without having any problem. One of my friends complained to me that he lost $1,700 in a Blockchain wallet, but this is the same wallet that I have been using for over four years now. I didn’t go further in asking him what happened, because I know for sure that he must have exposed his info somehow and that led to hackers taking advantage of him.

The harder it is for you to get to your private keys yourself, the harder it will be for hackers to do it.
This is the law of security. You should not go to extremes and dig in the keys in the chest in the backyard of your house, but you must treat the place of their storage responsibly.
Ask yourself: if an attacker gains access to your device, can he get to the keys? If the answer is yes, then you have found the main vulnerability.

If you generate private key from risky sources, chance of your wallet being hacked is high. For example, if you generate private key through bitaddress online, hacker may get access your private key. It is better to use offline method to generate that. There are a lot of ways to be saved. Using offline wallet/ hardware wallet are best.
Yes and if you are not much knowledgeable about these things then it is best to just use a wallet like coinbase because at least it gives more security and chances are much lower of coinbase turning scam than the chances are that you would fall victim to a scammer in hope of securing a private key yourself. So yeah either generate it offline if you know at least the basics and if you don't just go for a respect wallet provider.

I believe phishing is the largest thread that exist in crypto because it is just too easy to grab email addresses from any airdrop website and then use it to inbox users with suspicious links and steal their information so I strongly agree with the 4th point that OP mentioned because as long as you don't use your primary email for airdrops, ICOs, etc you will be safe from those attempts and no matter how smart you feel you are, if someone tries to hack you 1 million times you are gonna fall to it most probably.

Peoples ignorance or do lack of knowledge is always the main culprit on what people go scammed neither they are the ones who do give out or expose of their key or they do just carelessly place up their pk's into unsecure storage or some sort. Hackers are fucking smart ass people, they do just wait up for the right opportunity to come and if you do give them out an opportunity then it will
automatically talks about having an empty wallet of yours. When it comes to security then its always be good on sticking on a wallet which you do posses its pk, (not trusting up any 3rd party platforms and some sort). Next, keep it as secure as you can or away from other people which for them cant access even if its your own family  Cheesy . next, dont forget on where you do store up those or else
you will be fucked up.

Due to the issues of wallet hacking that happened this year and last year which i believe are the major strategies used by hackers and to prevent hacker attack is by using strong paid antivirus, never tell anyone about your holding, know the genuine site to downlaod your wallet app or wallet manager and dont open email or click on unknown source.

Here are some instructions that might help beginners:
1- Save your private key in an offline device
2- Distribute your cryptocurrencies to several govern orates to avoid losing all of them if one of the wallets is hacked
3- Do not reply to any message from an unknown source
4- Create an e-mail address for airdrops and Bounty campaigns

Do you have any other suggestions?

You should know that storing your private key offline or online has little effects with careless peeps; so instead i suggest newbies to understand perfectly why they must keep their private keys personal and save, avoid evernote app or any notepad applications on your phone, avoid any clipboard application too.

Also, after having a different email for exchange platforms, and a different email for bounties and airdrops; always remember never to use your exchange platform on any airdrop or bounty websites that requires log in.

Never use one password on all your accounts.
That's the absolute best method but it is hard because I myself use like 25 crypto websites and it is impossible to remember them all so I personally use strong password for wallets and exchanges while simple password for others.

Quote
4.Forget about airdrops. If something is for free, usually you are the product(or the victim). They are a waste of time anyway.
and if you still want to chase airdrops just use a temporary or separate email which was already mentioned in the OP.

Quote
7.Use the paid version of a good VPN.The free versions of VPNs aren't very good.
I have had multiple issues with VPN in past so I rather just suggest to use your own IP because I don't think anyone can hack you based on your IP address, or can they? If so please explain a bit more.

This is good suggestion and actually I do that for such a long time for proper account security since it's really hard to get hack and get broke in just a quick blink. We should remember that having a separate emails for everything is good for us although its quite hassle but I promise it's worth it since we can assure that we are away from the hack or any attempts will occur since our account is separately safe.

Added to all the points above I would like to add a vital point that is being used massively for hacks and people are just unaware of what wrong they did, so I am gonna share the vital method and a few small points.

- Hackers will lure you by giveaway offers and all they need is you to signup to their website and just claim the reward. Basically doing this they collect a lot of usernames and password and most of the guys use same username and password on almost all exchanges, wallets and everywhere so they get hacked.

A few small points

1- Never login to any link you get on emails.
2- At least check for SSL and make a quick habit of either googling links like I want to open bitclointalk then I only google case I know google wont give me phishing links.

As far as I know there are only a few ways for anyone to get access into your funds if you don't transfer them mistakenly to another address. (or by malware to change address in clipboard).
Your private key is your investment. Means if you share your private key to anyone, you are actually sharing your funds to that person. Try to use hardware wallet if you do really care about the security of your investment. For any airdrop/payment creating another wallet and don't use your main wallet address. Every time before you send bitcoins to someone ask for signed message and use encrypted messages for financial stuff.

The main reason for hacking wallets is to share our email password wallet keys with someone else Always be careful not to give out personal information before investing. This is more likely to happen in groups or new organizations so don't go to another site with your personal email Do not share passwords with anyone You can use a hardware wallet to avoid being hacked.

Many people fall victim to a hack and this causes them to lose all of their cryptocurrencies
But how do the hackers enter the wallets that have a very high level of security?
Unfortunately, it depends on the ignorance of some people, not on software methods.
For example: When a message arrives in an e-mail requesting the private key, many beginners will respond to this message and send their key, which is really sad.

That is why beginners must educate themselves specially they are new into this industry so that other people specifically hackers won't be able to stand a chance of taking advantage of their weakness. Actually the real safety of your wallet and account literally depends on you (owner) because you were the one who have created it and the main task you have to do it to take full responsibility of taking good care of your private informations.

All the suggestions stated by the OP above is agreeable to be done to avoid getting hacked. NEVER ever do entertain strange emails for there are lots of possibilities that it is a scheme to get your funds so if you were just a beginner, the first thing you must do is to keep yourself aware of the things that are unusual. The entire safety of your wallets lies on your hands so better educate yourself and be responsible on handling your wallet and account.
