So, I made a post about me teaching college students about Bitcoin and it's usage. I asked for few things that would make up my lesson plans here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5259038.msg54708539#msg54708539 The positive replies I got was enough for me. So, I came up with these; 1. General introduction to Bitcoin 2. What it is used for 3. Introduction to a forum dedicated for discussion of Bitcoins named Bitcointalk Forum 4. Mining 5. Digital skills 6. Last week would be used for quizzes and setting up Bitcoin accounts and prizes would be won for serious students among them. Your criticism is a welcome one too.

You must explain how the fee work too. Also, explaining what is "scam" such as ponzi, mlm, hyip, etc and how to avoid them. Most newcomer think that they are legit, especially with 'fake' cloud mining (i don't recommend the real one tho).
If some of your student interested, don't forget to tell them to backup their seeds or private key.

1. General introduction to Bitcoin 2. What it is used for
I'm honestly more curious about how you're going to explain things rather than your "lesson plan", as this part is quite critical. Can you give us a quick explanation on parts 1 and 2 here? How are you going to describe Bitcoin, and what is Bitcoin for according to you?

I will practically do that in front of everyone of them. And tell them not to make use of the wallets opened for practical purposes as one or two of them could hack into their wallets.

Can you expound more on the "payment for various services" part? Because I could guarantee that people would ask you " why do we need to use bitcoin? Why not just use USD/GDP/etc? and bitcoin is volatile etc etc".

Maybe you can add how crypto currencies involved, like the pre-cursor of bitcoin so that your students will understand how everything evolved and how bitcoin become the prime mover. You can also add disclaimer that bitcoin could be treat as investment, but you have to be very careful and understand the risk involved. Only, scams are more prevalent now, with a lot of fake giveaways, bitcoin doublers and others that they can easily fall for the trap if they didn't do any research and blatantly trust someone.

Man, I was asking you. You sure did pull out the reverse uno card huh? As you're the one that's actually going present, not me. Anyway, I'd put emphasis on: 1. Disadvantages of the current fiat system in general 2. Advantages of Bitcoin being decentralized and it giving people self-sovereignty 3. Advantages of Bitcoin's scarcity 4. The risks of self custody And finally, while I'm not doubting you because I don't know how much knowledge you have, but actually make sure you know what you're talking about before doing a presentation. False or misleading information can be dangerous. Best of luck.

i like the fact that you will introduce this forum to them. because if they will not get what they need from your lecture, they can always check and read this forum. the beginners section alone will open them to so many insights that they will not get from crypto websites. so i guess that will be your legacy to them - introducing this forum for tons of knowledge waiting to be cultivated

3. Introduction to a forum dedicated for discussion of Bitcoins named Bitcointalk Forum
Keep in mind that this forum can be tricky for young people, so you'll have to warn them: * the forum contains good and helpful people, but bad ones too; it contains useful info, but also scams. * there is gambling section and young people can get easily to the point of gambling too big amounts or get addicted. * there are scam projects (hyip, doublers, scam tokens) that invite people for "easy money", but actually stealing * there are faucets which are usually a huge waste of time with little to no benefits I feel like this forum needs a certain degree of maturity in order to be safe here. It's far from me that you should keep them away of here, but at least warn them to be prepared.

It's a really good move, well, as long as OP doesn't advertise Bitcointalk as a moneymaking forum; because that would be disastrous for both sides(Bitcointalk and OP's listeners). I couldn't remember how much posts I've seen on how to make money because their friend told them that Bitcointalk is some moneymaking site.

Considering the fact that some of your student is at the range of 14 to 20+ years old, it is worth noting that you also need to emphasize the "Frequently Asked Questions" with regards to the general information of bitcoin especially in the areas of legalities, economy and security. Whenever people ask me a particular bitcoin related question, Bitcoin Wiki is the most comprehensive resource that I use as a reference of my answers. 3. Introduction to a forum dedicated for discussion of Bitcoins named Bitcointalk Forum
As long as for discussion puposes that would be fine. 4. Mining
This is quite technical for newbies to understand if they haven't tried an actual bitcoin transaction. This could really make sense if they understand why bitcoin has transaction fees, confirmations, txid etc.. This could give you a not much accurate of how bitcoin works, but this is a good simulator to simplify the technical part of how bitcoin works under the hood especially when sending a transaction and mining. Bitcoin simulator (Technical Introduction)Read the thread since the website itself had some inaccurate information. 5. Digital skills
What about digital skills? 6. Last week would be used for quizzes and setting up Bitcoin accounts and prizes would be won for serious students among them.
You can find lots of bitcoin quizzes in google . Don't tire yourself though.

Digital skills 6. Last week would be used for quizzes and setting up Bitcoin accounts and prizes would be won for serious students among them. Your criticism is a welcome one too. Nice plan but I don't think we need number two since that can be tackled with the general introduction to bitcoin since it is specified as "general" introduction. So you could push number 3 to number 2. Since you are doing it online, you could let them access the forum and make assignments from there like for example read a thread and tell about it in the class, something like that. Although I am still thinking, as a teacher, we don't see this as a lesson plan but just a structure of what you are planning. You are teaching college students so you need to be organized. You need to plan this as well since you said that your topic is Bitcoin and its usage but I don't think you should add Digital skill right there, I don't know about mining since your topic is bitcoin's usage, you should just add that to "general introduction". To be honest, you could just tackle all the things about bitcoin and its usage in number 1. You should plan this as well as thinking who will benefit from this, how will they benefit, and if you're plan follow SMART method of goal setting by Dr. Locke and Dr. Latham.

You should probably consider adding Bitcoins' current state. Like how it's being seen as a speculative asset, far from it's supposed to be used as a currency. I also doubt you need to discuss mining deeply? Probably an idea on how mining works, but that's it, no need to overcomplicate it or something. Also, I don't particularly support the idea of adding the Bitcointalk forum as a huge part of the plan? Probably just speak of it in the passing and tell them that they could ask people there with regards to any questions they have with Bitcoin.
There's also the idea of adding the timeline of Bitcoin, don't just sum or skip them, probably discuss every major event that happened with Bitcoin. Also, avoid CSW please, students can afford to live their lives without knowing this dude.

This is interesting!
I would want to know the specific courses these college students are taking up. Based on their specific fields of study, you could bring the discussion into them a little deeper considering that you are talking about graduating college students, according to your other thread.
You can, for example, discuss the basics of Bitcoin and then eventually bring it deeper into technical discussions if they are taking up computer courses or into the economic side of it if they are taking up economics and so on.

You should start in explaining what bitcoin is, in order for us to learn something we should know what is its own definition, that is good to include also the number 2. What it is used for, there are many people who don't know how can we use the bitcoin, they even know if it is money or not, well it is online money which can be used in real life if you convert it into fiat currency.
Good thing is that you should also include this forum, you may advise him to visit this forum to know more about cryptocurrency, this forum is really good for gaining a lot of information about cryptocurrency, just like me I only learn cryptocurrency because of this forum. It's better if he does self-study by exploring this forum and the guide of yours as well. You should also teach them about investing and trading becauce once they have joined this forum they will encounter or read things about both inevsting and trading, its better if they have good idea about it.

Yes I think OP should also enlighten them with investment since Bitcoin is being used as an investment tool those are the biggest misunderstanding of newbies for my opinion. You should also guide them in trading and show them other crypto currencies so they wouldn't fall easily to some crypto signal groups that would offer them a huge profit.

You can always talk about the advantages of BTC nowadays and some hodling facts just don't forget to tell them the Volatility of the price in the market. which is the most important thing they should know before thinking to buy some BTC. some people forget this crucial information to tell those who want to learn about BTC until they already lost some high percentage of their investment due to the sudden fall of the market or what we called it Bearish trend. If they only knew about it, they could have to stop themselves from investing too much. I read some topics where he messes up with his grandma's savings. after he invested it all, the price went down and all he did was posted it here blaming everyone that no one tells him about the volatility of the price.

it is good to know about bitcoin TestNet in this step since many may not want to or not have extra money to buy bitcoin with. TestNet coins are free since they have no value and the good wallets support TestNet which anyone can use (like electrum). that way they don't risk anything while freely learning about how to truly use bitcoin with their desktop wallets. here is a topic with more information: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215716.0
