It's not just about greed. Yes, greedy people fall for tricks more often, because when they see a freebie, critical thinking turns off.
But among people there are those who just want to get a crypt just like that, and those who do not have the funds to purchase it. For example, the participants of the Airdrop, are they all greedy? I think no.
The main problem is not greed, but the laziness of the mind of people who do not check information before using it.
The key part of the reason why people who are entering giveaways and airdrops are not able to think critically is because of the fact they don't know much about cryptocurrency industry in general and how it works in particular. They maybe have heard many stories about beautiful times when cryptocurrency airdrops were used solely for the purpose of gaining attention of the community. Presently, airdrops and giveaways are practically worthless due to the fact we have many succesfull projects already and the possibility of finding another gem is significantly low. Scammers are perfectly aware of this situation and therefore busy creating fake giveaways in order to collect more valuable coins from people who still haven't found out anything about what is valuable and what is not. For example, naive people are still ready to exchange their valuable bitcoin for a couple of shitcoins. That is the main problem. It also works when it comes to bitcoin doublers. People don't value their hard earned bitcoins and are ready to give them away to another scammer. That is not greed or laziness I would say, it is simply people don't value their time, their labor and, more importantly, themselves.
