My rigs stop mining today, when Epoch 352 went active.

After restart, 13 GPU are detected, but AMD driver is not capable of stopping fan on a single GPU anymore, indicating, no control.

When miner starts, miner is loading, but no hashing.

In "show miner" it say, all GPU hang and miner must be restarted.

Anyone have similar problem, or solution ?

Have tried ethOS update, no result.
Have tried miner update, no result.

Running ethOS 1.3.3, without trouble for month.

Any input appreciated.

are those 4 gig cards? they should be good for 20 more epochs if so

Yes they are, 4 GB, Sapphire Nitro.

No out of VRAM alert.

Ethminer stopped working for my 4gb cards this morning as well.  And my rigs with 8gb cards are still working fine.

I run ubuntu 18.04 no custom OS.  And Claymore v15 still works on the 4gb cards.

Must be some code issue with how ethminer handles buffer allocation

cl 16:56:55 cl-1     Build info success:
cl 16:56:55 cl-1     Creating light cache buffer, size: 60.00 MB
cl 16:56:55 cl-1     Creating DAG buffer, size: 3.75 GB, free: 190.37 MB
 X 16:56:55 cl-1     Creating DAG buffer failed: clCreateBuffer: CL_INVALID_BUFFER_SIZE (-61)
SIGSEGV encountered ...

I bet ethOS runs ethminer as well

You might be on to something there.
Until now, I have been running Claymore 15, in ethOS, but also tried ethminer, no difference.
But when booting, I am not sure what miner/driver is running.

OK guys, this is little advertisement but i have solution for you guys regarding today problem with 4GB GPUs ....

SimpleMining.net and choosing miner called teamredminer is the solution. Under that setup mining with 4GB cards works fine.

I have a Rig with ethos and had the same problem. I switched to hiveos and claymore and i get error: not enough vram for dag. switched to hiveos and phönixminer and all is ok. I don´t know why i get this error. I do some research tomorrow. My other 10 rigs with windows10 running well.

Those Windows 10 rigs will stop working also Smiley (if they are 4GB)

I have created new thread with explanation why is this happening

nope will work up to epoch 370. Tested with benchmark.
Give me reason why it stops.

Win10 reserves something like 300-600MB VRAM, where as ethOS only reserves 8 MB. Win 10 rigs with 4gig cards will depending on card manufacturer and type, stop mining ETH some times around October. Linux based miners will run out og VRAM memory around Christmas.

In smos it should work until 385 epoch Smiley Thats the difference, Our SMOS linux does not use any graphical interface.
It is server like linux which can be managed via cloud dashboard.

You can keep using Ethos.
However, make sure to select the latest TeamRedMiner for AMD or Phoenix miner for Nvidia and you will be fine for at least some time.

Read our latest blog post about the matter on https://medium.com/minerstat/what-to-mine-with-4gb-gpus-675b583617a8

You can keep using Ethos.
However, make sure to select the latest ....

I am not sure if ethos is making any updates to miner programs.
Last changelog was at "(released October 9th 2018)"
So i do not think that it can mine on 4GB cards.

ethOS' customers are able to update mining clients by themselves if they wish to do so.

Quote
sudo update-miners && sudo service ethos-miner-monitor restart

Even if those miners are not prepared on ethos servers ? Then tere would be nothing to update.
From their changelog it seems they do not update their miners (there is no information about this for 2 years now)

Any ethos user around ?
Can you tell us guys that phoenix or teamredminer version do you have onboard ?

Official sources confirmed the statement. Customers of ethOS can update clients by themselves.
End of debate.

Well i have been using ethos for over 3 years now and i can confirm that ethos has the miners needed to hash with 4gb vram gpus. Yes the ethos servers wont show those miners but if you ask in the ethos support channel (http://ethosdistro.com/kb/#support) you sure will get the instructions on how to do it.

I do love the plug for SMOS though , good move

I think the solution are these commands, but I don't know how or where to put them in ETHOS

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

I found out that setx=export in linux.

Might not be the case but please try their support (2 replies up)
