Do you know of any resources to help victims of crypto scams recover their losses?

I was a victim of one made by coinkast.io where they had me pay more money to release my funds and then they kept adding additional fees... so basically I lost $100k+ and I need to recover it someone especially since much of that were loans I took out.

Any help or links to agencies that can help would be appreciated...

Thank you in advance

Apparently there's little chance for you to recover your money since first you are dealing a online investment which scammers can hide easily.

State on which country are you on maybe there people are people here can help you out atleast file a complaint regarding on the incident happen to you.

And also next time don't easily believe on easy earning schemes since mostly all of them are 100% scam.

I didn't familiar with that exchange and once I didn't familiar with an exchange I will not use it, IMO. With this site, https://coinkast.io/ isn't it?

Based on this review, there someone claiming that this site is a scam. So, there's a doubt that the exchange you've used is a scam.

Anyway, you can move this to Scam Accusations and provide strong evidence towards them. Screenshot or transaction ID of your $100k deposited on that site.

Or probably you can contact them on the given address and contact number on the main page of the site.

From who.is the site says.
Code:
Name : NameSilo, LLC
Whois : Serverwhois.namesilo.com
Referral URL : https://www.namesilo.com/
Status: clientTransferProhibited https://www.icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited

It looks like a bought website.

Sorry for your loss but I don't think you will recover your fund.

www.coinkast.io exchange is a scam and pretty sure you can get your money back from them.  But how I wonder why you put that trust easily, I'm not sure if you are doing a research before putting our money. To be honest with you, you have been fooled by their promises.

Do you know of any resources to help victims of crypto scams recover their losses?
Sorry but there is nothing. Only a good heart will send you some sats but not guarantee that they will make it unless if the give sympathy with you.

So they showed me a demo of their bot. Afterwards, I made a small investment and I saw my account size double everyday. Rather than waiting for my first withdrawal... i don't know why I was so blind... I guess it was a moment of weakness... but the promise of even bigger returns consumed me and I invested more. When I could finally withdraw, I was hit with fees that I couldn't pay. I took out loans to pay the fees, and then I was hit with another fee. Yea, I was fooled... Just trying now to recover anything that I can...

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try Scam Accusations.

You can go after this company if what they posted in their website is true.

https://www.coinkast.io/terms-and-conditions

Quote
Coinkast US, Ltd ("coinkast.io UK")

, a private limited company incorporated  licensed and headed in United States and United Kingdom legislations

CB Payments, Ltd ("Coinkast.io Payments") a private limited company incorporated in England and United States  and whose registered office is 9th Floor, 107 Cheapside, London EC2V 6DN, United Kingdom,102 Wall ST New York, NY 10005 .

You lose money because of a scam, you can sue them but for proper guidance, go ask a lawyer, at least you have the information now.

As what I read about this site, there are a lot of bad reviews, so I doubt why you are using this site in the first place.

Oh my, that was a huge money and can't believe you risk that amount without undergoing self-research about the site.

Don't take our comments negatively as in whatever ways, there is a low chance you will recover your money. The company might be operating behind fake information on their site details. If there any ways you can reach them thru their stated contact information, you can try it.

You can also consult your country's cybercrime group and see what they can do although like I said, there is a slim chance you will recover your money but you can give it a try. Sorry for the loss and I can't imagine what feeling you have right now.

I had my wallet sweept once 8m after recieving funds, I filled a fbi complaint and contacted each single exchange and gambling site I know for tagging the two involved addresses.
I doubt it will help recovering but surely will get the respective addresses under an eye.
As harizen said on the upper post you should contact your country's cyber crime group.

Who brought you to that exchange?

The story keeps repeating over and over. That kind of scam had been around for years, its like your funds are being held for ransom but they got everything from you. Too bad you can't easily get those back. This is why I don't trust websites with clients testimonials to it because it's there for the purpose of bewitching unsuspecting users.

So sorry, there's no such thing in crypto as transaction is irreversible.

I was a victim of one made by coinkast.io where they had me pay more money to release my funds and then they kept adding additional fees... so basically I lost $100k+ and I need to recover it someone especially since much of that were loans I took out.

Classic scammer move here. Let this be a lesson for you, damn, $100k is a big chunk of money specially in this pandemic. Charge this to your experience and next time don't make a loan just to invest because there's always that very big risk involved.

That money can absolutely go a long way! I hope you must be aware and be careful next time. It was so obvious that this is a total scam, haven't you notice from the start? Once you were being ask for an amount of money to pay, you must pause for a while and think it over. Be wise enough in dealing with this kind of stuff. Money is so hard to find and you need to work hard for it, and during this pandemic, it matters most to us. In addition to that, i dont actually know, where or whom we can report or sue this scammers...i hope all the opinions can help you solve and recover your money back. Be careful next time.

I really see no reason why you had invested again before trying to withdraw fund, why you had deposited again as a term of fee and again. The way you told that you were getting good return was too good to be true.
Anyway, you can proceed with legal actions if you want to. Contact with local police, lawyer to get help for the procedure.

You've got to start somewhere. Either consult a lawyer or report this to your local policeman or your country's bureau of investigation. From there, you will be advised where to go next or what the next best step is.

People here cannot provide you the necessary links of agencies because nobody knows which country you are from.

Finally, let this be a lifetime lesson for you: never ever borrow money for the sake of investment. Investment has risks. It is always a possibility that your investment will lose instead of gain. May I say this for the nth time, invest only what you can afford to lose.

Give it up? If it were a more known one then you might have a chance to actually apply for legal charges, but the site seems to be relatively unknown. Even review sites had no records to base upon and most reviews that I found were actually just spam. If you still want to try to, look for a legal team in the UK so that it's easier to visit the scammers location, dunno if it's legit though since it states that their office is located there. I'm not being rude or anythiing, but when you paid for more than $50k to return what you invested should have been plenty enough of a signal to identify that what you're dealing with is a scammer. No legit trading platform out there would ask for money to send you your money back.

You recover your losses simply by making the money back. There's no special agency that's going to help you earn it back. Go get a job, start a business, get gigs, all that jazz.

If you're referring to a service that could literally take back your coins that got stolen, you might want to move on instead because the chances of you getting your coins back is next to zero.

Be careful if you receive a private message offering you their FRAUDULENT bitcoin recovery service. Do not be another victim of another scam. Read this thread for more information https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5265067.msg54885257#msg54885257

The company name and the address posted by others are most likely fakes too but you can give it a shot. Darker45's suggestion is your best option.

$100k is not a small amount of money and browsing on the web I found this.

Quote
Report fraud and other suspicious activity involving cryptocurrency, or other digital assets to:

You were really fold it was an obvious scam knowing that your investments double in just a matter of day. I don't know if you can still get back what you've lost but at least try that's a huge amount of money.

That can be a viable option, but the money that was conned is so many that I think he will not stop until he finds the culprit which is unlikely because it happened in cryptospace. Plus in the first place the red flags are indicated by OP.

Thank you in advance

pay attention. there are fake agencies that claim to be able to give back your money or provide a sort of legal help. But they are just scam and will try to scam more money from you.

No one can be able to retrieve crypto from a blockchain. The only solution could be a legal action or a police investigation that help you to identify these people/try to recover your sum loss.
They are already online... I want suggest also to open a scam accusation thread:

So basically, you are sending more money to the scammers who scammed your money but they are still demanding more and you're still sending more money to them without having a second thought on why you are sending more even though they are obviously trying to just keep it.

The best approach that you could do is to report it to the authority. Nothing else you could do there.

Just taking a quick glance at the website and I can already see many red flags. They misspelled the names of several cryptocurrencies and doing a reverse image search on the client testimonials photos leads to stock images.

This is also a quote from their website which is absolute gibberish:

Based on the results of my investigation, I believe that coinkast.io is an exchange scam. And you should try reporting it to the police
in your country of residence. Even though your money back opportunity is very small, because in the online world it is very difficult to
return lost money. Make it a lesson not to use unpopular exchanges.

Unfortunately, the chance of recovering OP's money is really slim. By reporting this
to authorities, it will help to lessen
new victims being trapped to this investment, Ponzi scam. It's a huge money if the
story of OP is for real but he will learn things
in such a hard way. Having this experience will definitely alarm more people to always
do research before investing your money.
There are lots of money-making scheme that investors need to review before starting to invest
their money.

If you have been asked to pay as you withdraw, you should have never listened to them. But I understand that you are in a desperate situation and you just want to withdraw your money.

Report this to the police cyber division if you have in your country, they can give you better suggestion how to sue the exchange.

I have not heard of that platform before but the chance of getting back your coin is very slim this is because of the technology and other services that make it less difficult for scammers to sell stolen funds. However, depending on the country you are located. You can report your scam details plus other information to Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) www.consumer.ftc.gov/. This will be documented and investigation will be conducted with the aim of getting back stolen funds

You have made a great loss in bitcoin. Much worst because it is from getting scam. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. There is no easy way to undo the transaction and get your money back unless you know already the scammer and report it to the proper authority.

As I had made here an advise try to search the btc addreas here and see if the owner of that btc address is a member here. There is a high chance that you can initially trace that scammer.

Not familiar with the website, but it is really suspicious,

You should suspect them at the beginning when they had you to pay more money to release your funds, this is something that you shouldn't have done. It is actually one of the known tricks of scammers to get more funds from their victims. And, unfortunately, there are no resources or any other ways to recover your losses, once the scammer get your money into their hands, there is no taking it back.

And there we go, the famous recovery nonsense ready to scam you even more. Nice story though, I wonder what a virus would do once inside a bitcoin wallet.

OP (and anyone bothering to read this): Don't fall for this shit (again)..

I think that is the biggest mistake you have ever done because the scammer keeps asking for your money and you keep with to continue giving it to the damn scammer. why did you not think beforehand if it was just a scammer's plan to fool you, there is nothing you can do for now except be more careful in investing or trading in next time.

Based on the results of my investigation, I believe that coinkast.io is an exchange scam. And you should try reporting it to the police
in your country of residence. Even though your money back opportunity is very small, because in the online world it is very difficult to
return lost money. Make it a lesson not to use unpopular exchanges.
I don't think it's easy to report it to the police because a case like this does not mean that the police understand and there is a digital law there, but it depends on the country where it is located. even if this case can be reported to the police, it will not be guaranteed that the money has been fully returned and will only make it difficult to provide a clear explanation to the police. so the point is better to be patient and sincere and take lessons about cases like this.

Crypto scammed funds are hard to recover and it may be difficult to get back your money but it's worth to try and rather be sorry about it.  Hoping for your endeavor will be solved whatever means necessary to get your funds back. Nevertheless, stay away from that kind of scheme because they will just cash you out as they could and that time your smell fishy about fee, then it's the best time to stop sending funds to them.

That's what I'm talking about, they are being victimized by the same schemes which they reported that those scammers are using.

It got me so upset that although there are threads here that will help them become knowledgeable about those scams, still they don't read it.

Blame yourself if you get scammed but make sure that you will never repeat it and you will learn from it. Once you got scammed, there's no way that you can recover the losses that you've done. Scammers will never give back the money that you gave them due to your ignorance about their strategies.

You cannot recover the money that you lost and there is no body able to help you and it is wrong to send more money to the fraudsters so you should forget about that money and start a new business and avoid the fraudsters because they will continue to exploit you and steal your money

You can make a complaint in your local and that is all you can do, because you spend money on the internet and you know it is impossible to track down the scammers even with the fiat money so you need to accept the losses. And it is your ignorance that you send the additional funds to recover the previous lost money. Sad

Here is another asshole @anderson_abade_ bitcoin scam artist. He claims his company can recover scammed funds through contacts he has on the dark web for a fee. He is a pathological liar. His whatsapp is 1 (209) 314-0311. Spread the word and spam the fuck out of this prick.

Since the crypto currency is still not yet legalized around the world then other countries are not yet launching a cyber crime law about crypto currency so if your country doesn't yet legalized the crypto currency then you still have no rights with it and all you need to do is to make sure that your crypto coins are safe or else you will lose it anytime that may come. There are some sites that is helping all the victim of crypto scamming but it will be having a hard time to retrieve your coin.

This guy has started his own service providing support on recovery of stolen Bitcoins. Probably from the gmail he has posted for contact purpose it is clear that the guy has started his service once after looking after this thread. Even he might get few users out of this forum to recover his funds. Right now he hasn't charged anything in the public forum. When someone contacts he'll start his fee.

Reporting to the proper authority as per your country is the solution, I think which for any scam that has happening could be done. Also, we all must be vigilant for any such types of exchanges, sites etc which we have not heard and does not even have any good ratings or people know about it, such things should be ignored.

i think there's no way to get your money back, scam website is usually doesn't care about their customer.

adn the web maybe gonna become into ash after this. and my advice is never trust kind of hyip program anymore. Cry

There are lots of money-making scheme that investors need to review before starting to invest
their money.

and yeah its all about ponzi, people who own this website is basically make another scam site for living  Cry

the opinions made by colleagues above can be used as your reference, but it is better to join the forums in your country so you can get more enlightenment. because each country will provide a very different treatment with the existence of crypto.
in my country maybe you will not be able to give a report because the country does not recognize any form related to crypto. so the possibility that if you are in a country like mine it can be concluded that it will not be resolved.
for that better and seek enlightenment on the appropriate forum for your country, at least there can be a way out to find out if you can continue in the form of a report.

Hmmm I don't that the authorities can resolved the problems like scam specially here in virtual world because each and everyone of us are anonymous here in crypto world, even if you try to track down the scammer you can't have the chance to find his or her exact place so in order for you not to get involve in any scams you should be careful and must follow the safety precautions.

Base on my experience most of the people who make a deep dive into the world of investment and getting trouble to the people they met are didn't get their money or funds. But at the end of the day, they can do just a report about this kind of incident.

I am sorry for your loss but it is unrecoverable.

At first you should've been able to check or verify those sites as scams are so familiar and common in this community. What you can just do now is to educate and tell this to other people like what you did so the possible victims of these kinds of sites would stop. Hope you didn't stop investing instead learn from this.

This is one of the best way too to help to our community if you already experienced this kind of problem or scam better to report or make a review and report immediately because they already scammed you and we want to avoid getting more victims on this kind of platforms.

Sorry about the lost coins my friend, but is har to recover the coins when you get scammed, as i say in other posts, Bitcoin is not paypal, you can't chargeback the transactions, once the coins are confirmed is gone.

But you are not alone... I think 90% of users on this forum have been scammed, we always hit the bait at some point, so, take it as a non-cheap lesson.

You can try to leave a statement of falling a victim of cybercrime to the authorities, but there's a very low chance of the successful outcome, unfortunately... I was scammed once, and it didn't work out. Here's a link to what seems to me like a useful infographic on the topic. I think that trying to do it the official way is the best chance you've got because keep in mind that there're scammers who claim they can help you get your money back, and in the end you lose even more. Give the local enforcement and other respectable organizations a shot, but don't expect to get your money back, unfortunately. I am really sorry for your loss, $100k is an unimaginable amount of money for me.

Just accept your lost and move on, one of the reason for the successful scam rate is getting high is as a result of the argues by already scammed victim to search for ways to recover their stollen a funds which cost them more in the process as they also end of getting scammed more. Bitcoin is not reversible currency, ones your coins are gone they're lost forever unless the party in the other ends is willing to return the funds.

Now many might think this is the weak aspect of the technology which is costing it its adoption as people are afraid of losing their funds to scams and there's nothing that can be done about it but that's not the case as the decentralization mode of operation by the currency is what's unique about it and it's strength over other currency in addition to it's limited supply.

You need to go to the police on your country, most likely it has a special forces task against online fraud, in most cases the amount of money that people lose does not really merit an investigation and most likely the police will tell you to just forget about your losses, but since you have lost so much money your case is a big one so there is a high possibility that they will take it, but I have to be honest with you the chances that you are going to recover that money are very low, in fact they are so low that we could say that recovering that money is impossible, unfortunately for you this is going to be a very expensive lesson so make sure that you never make this mistake again.

Do you know of any resources to help victims of crypto scams recover their losses?

I believe you know this:

1 - 70% of exchanges are anonymous

2 - 70% of exchanges have no headquarters and license

How do you expect to recover funds from a place where the owners are anonymous and not headquarters? it is very difficult.

unfortunately this is the dark side of cryptocurrencies

I was a victim of one made by coinkast.io where they had me pay more money to release my funds and then they kept adding additional fees... so basically I lost $100k+ and I need to recover it someone especially since much of that were loans I took out.

This:

COINKAST

Our license is valid in all Member States of EU, UK and USA under the provisions of the US Parliament’s Markets in Financial
Instruments Directive (MiFID) which harmonises financial legislation throughout the EU.

To accede to the terms and conditions of these Regulations the Clients sign the Brokerage Agreement in the form of Appendix 1 hereto (hereinafter the “Brokerage Agreement”). Signing of the Brokerage Agreement by the Client means acceptance by the Client of all the terms and conditions specified in these Regulations without exception. The company has a License Number of CIF 227/14

As a regulated platform, Coinkast® strictly abides by the policies and requirements set down by the financial regulator, which are set to protect customers. Stringent checks by the regulator ensure that all activities of the company are provided with complete fairness and transparency.

Traders at Coinkast® can trade secure in the knowledge that as a regulated company. It provides:

Transparent Pricing– Meeting specific standards and ensuring fair practice
Segregated Account– All client funds are maintained safely in segregated accounts with major European banks
An Investor Compensation Fund policy – Providing additional security to traders
A Professional Management Team – Continuously monitored by the financial regulator

find a lawyer from your country and show him this and he will be able to tell you how you should do to recover your money

Unfortunately I think there is no chances for scam victims to be taken care off most specially if such scam is crypto related because mostly such cases, victims are just left behind with no choice and chance of getting their money back. But if your government have already recognized the usage of crypto and have a law or bill about cryptocurrency related scams, I think there is a small possibility that you can somehow track or get your money back. But there is no such assurance on that since people behind such scams are mostly strange or anonymous people that are just using other people's identity and faces to scam people so it would really be hard to get your money back.

First things first, upon engaging into any crypto investment, you must already know the risks associated on it because crypto transactions are made anonymously so if you got victimized by a scammer, then expect you will have no chance of getting your money back already and that would be the end of the story line. That is why do not be so impulsive on doing investments on exchanges you are not familiar with to avoid scams. Better this serve as a lesson not just for you but for everyone that once transaction have been done, there is already no turning back.

No, there's no way to recover money someone stole from you. The best anti scam mechanism is to not play with money emotionally, but financially soundly. Be cold headed about your inversions, DO NOT INVEST BECAUSE FRIENDS TELL YOU TO, DYOR and make sure you know what you're getting into before you listen to advice from someone else

To be frank with you, it is really not that easy to retrieve all of the money that you've lost from scams. So think like this, if you get scammed, never expect to have it back because you should be responsible with your own mistakes. I'm not making you hopeless but that's the reality, especially if it is all about bitcoin scams. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, the only thing that you can find them is through their BTC address. But first of all, you should not believe on those scams easily, never trust anyone who you talk to in some platforms if you don't have any credibility that they are legit. Prevention is much better like what they've said towards scams, being aware and mindful will literally help you not become a victim.

There’s so many scam victims and one thing you can do is to make an accusation report. Apart from that I don't know what other group you can make a report or ask for help. I’ve been scam before in a certain project what I did is move on and this was just a lesson learn that never invest on what you cannot afford to lose.

I highly doubt anyone might be able to help you with recovering your funds. You got scammed. There is no easy way for you to get back your scammed money. The scammers, they always think ahead. They hide their traces and identity really good. If someone claims that they can recover your fund and tells you to send a "fee" first, don't! Those people will also try to scam you.
You could try taking help from the cops, but I doubt they will be able to help.

once you send a crypto you cant take them back especially from a person that intend to steal you money . never seen a person that have been scammed that recovered their money except if its hacks happend from a legit platforms because theres still a chance that the owner will cover the lost . what is that site an exchange or something ? but its name is not familiar here , non familiar site should be avoided at the first place . now they ask more which means they are guilty .

Sorry to hear that but you might as well move on already. You can try asking for help through agencies such as local police etc. Hassle and will take a lot of your time casue you'll be going through different offices. Try accepting that it won't change. You are now included to the long list of scammed people. I just wished you already learn from this. But yup, that's a big money you just lost there.

Might as well focus on doing something to earn it back.

So basically, you are sending more money to the scammers who scammed your money but they are still demanding more and you're still sending more money to them without having a second thought on why you are sending more even though they are obviously trying to just keep it.

The best approach that you could do is to report it to the authority. Nothing else you could do there.
authority? can you please tell me what authority is in charge of crypto crime. because this really helps a lot of people who experience the same thing in crypto, so I think you can explain everything here. please your review is very helpful

Since it is an online investment, sad to say but it would be close to impossible to get your money back. Informations are limited and anonymity is protected to most of the online investments especially those that are related to cryptos. First move you may try is to look for the project's country origin if possible. Cryptocurrencies are not that much being given attention especially to countries wherein it is not legal. Another thing to do is to look for the names of people behind that project, also if possible, wherein you may start tracing down. But this would be tough for sure. Goodluck!

Sorry about your loss man but to be honest with you there is absolutely no way for you to get your funds back especially in ICOs and IEOs. What you need to do next time is to make sure that whatever funds you are investing in any project is something you can afford to lose and also the project is worth investing in. So you might want to consider things like use cases, token economics,  experienced team members etc.

theres few ico befofe that offers money back guarantee service. if only he is a part of those he will stil get his funds back but those kind of projects are mostly legit and secured because its thier lost if they dont let things flow according to thier plan  .

unfortunately most projects that are popping out are not as good as the projects that i mention above and people blindly invest on them  . once they loose , its hard to recover what they lost

In this case you cant do anything about it but to move on.
Its a huge money indeed but it already happened, so use that experience as a lesson to not trust easily and be careful because its your hard-earned money.

I think most of us already experience becoming victimized of scam but managed to forget those unfortunate situation and recover what we have lost by striving and working hard.

I don't think there is a specific agency that could help you. There is no chance of getting your money back since this is an online investment. Just take it as a lesson that invest what you can afford to lose and use only those exchanges that already have a name in crypto.

Most crypto is not regulated by the government, so it is very difficult when we fall victim to scams to recover from losses.
In other words we have to give up and move on. And this is a lesson for all of us not to use capital from loan money.
So the only agencies that can help you are the police, but there's no guarantee you can get your money from scammers.

When you ask about authorities who deal with these types of crimes you need to contact cyber a police cyber crime division. They deal with online scams and should be able to help you. If the company that scammed you was registered and is still operating maybe there's a chance to get some money back. Many people were able to win court cases against scammers.

Why did you trust again and send deposited to them because if they are real project not need to do that and that obviously is a scam.
A legit project will not adding more funds to their investors once they withdraw we should learned about this . $100k is huge and we don't know if it's go back again or not but make sure next time just be careful and think more before depostiting again of your money to every investment or project.

If the ones you got involved with is a crypto related scam, then honestly, you might be losing hope of getting your funds back because at the first thing, you must have already know that it is a full of risks doing transaction in relation with cryptocurrencies for once you have done a transaction and it was already confirmed, then there is no turning back. Getting into a scam which relates to crypto currency usage have a very small possibility to none that you can still be able to get your funds back for what you are having a transaction with is a stranger with an anonymous personality that if things get worst even if he told you his identity might be a fake one or a stolen identity from someone.

Actually at the first time they have asked you for additional payment for claiming your profit into the once you have invested with is that the first thing that must come into your mind that it is already a scam. But instead, you keep on sending them payments that costs you a lot which must have been prevented or avoided if you already let go instead of keep pushing to claim it that already costs you a lot of money spent. Seriously with such cases, you are already having no hopes because that was a clear scam and that scammer must have run together with your funds. This must be a lesson to you not to get fooled once again by obvious scams of asking you lots of payments because the first time they did, it was already a scam

So you have fallen into these trading plans?

Sorry to say but it would really be a long process to take legal actions on this one.You can still possibly get some help but
go to your local cybercrime division and ask on what are the possible actions that you can file up on them but since
due to anonymity aspect of this market its indeed a hard stuff.

"Stepping into his shoes"

Sad chronology of a user who suffers from scam:

-//////////Google Search: "Scam victims"/////////////-
So. They come to bitcointalk, when they scam it.
-/Why not come before, if you can do it after the incident. I'm not trying to judge ... but./-

-////////////Registers at August 03, 2020, 04:35:15 PM////////////////////-

I guess you spent an hour reading trying to find information ... I don't think it took an hour
in your OP.

After about 16 minutes he receives his first Reply; someone who surely understands him better than person  from the offline world.

Reply #5 his answer appears. At least it did not stay in only the OP, at least he had the honesty to tell more in that second answer ... I have seen many cases like yours ... on my local dashboard it happens, on all local dashboards for sure at least once someone came with a similar story, but with the same sad ending, Scam/ripped off.

-///////Last Active: August 03, 2020, 09:43:20 PM/////////////////-

That tells me that you only read up to post #10 /

From here on, this already happens to support future readers, I include myself.

Quote
but I hope and you come back, users like you who overcome these scams, both psychologically and economically, they should be examples of fraud, not just theorists who explain and they give an exemplary class on how this should not happen they should be here in the forum.

So ... history after the fraud,  It is so very important to study it, to know it from its own bad experience.
In short, can you become a user who helps others based on your bad experience. In short, take this forum from now on like it didn't before.

One should always read about scams, the worst scam to come is the one we don't know about, it seems obvious ... is so painful, like saying, "how i didn't see it coming"

There are so common scams, like yours, that many of us get vaccinated against it, but that does not make us immune, that's why
mistrust and information in the long term are the best immunity by 99.99%

Do you know of any resources to help victims of crypto scams recover their losses?

I was a victim of one made by coinkast.io where they had me pay more money to release my funds and then they kept adding additional fees... so basically I lost $100k+ and I need to recover it someone especially since much of that were loans I took out.

Any help or links to agencies that can help would be appreciated...

Thank you in advance
You took the right decision after doing the wrong by asking this question. If you had asked the question first I am cocksure you would've been armed not to fall victim to those scumbags. It's obvious you fell for fraudsters. Again, don't just use any exchange that comes up or dangles enticing discounts before you. In most cases they don't deliver on their promises. You may want to check Coinmarketcap. Sorry for your loss. And I hope you learnt your lesson, anyway.

Agree that its a long, tiring process. Sorry to hear this but you really lose a lot. Its a good thing though that you posted about it cause you are helping other users by exposing the scam. I hope we could really help but I don't know any other way. They said it already, report it to your local cybercrime office so they are informed already. I hope you learn a lot from this. Try researching about something before jumping into it. It will save you money and time.

It is so hard to recover those scam money I think you should have done some research before putting a huge amount on the site.
It is the most important thing to do whenever you are investing or just simple putting money anywhere,
It is the first thing that we would do even when we are going to open a savings in the bank we would ask some people around us or even search if they are a good one or there are even better banks to use.

The only thing I can add is that you spoke up too late and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it. Crypto space is one that is so not organized that you are responsible for your own safety as far as your funds is concerned to the extent that you view every service, projects, or promotion with a default skeptical view.

It depends on what country you are in. But if you're trying to know if there's one, yes there are many authorities that are in charge of cryptocurrency crimes. In our country, SEC or Securities and Exchange Commission who handles ponzi and scam platforms that operate in our countries.

You can report a platform so they will prohibit the operation of the website but you will not recover your loss because it's in the blockchain.

The first question I'm gonna ask is where did you find that website? who introduced it to you?

If you accidentally found it on google, when you are searching for something you can invest for, something like that, I guess the first thing you would search next is "is this site (the one you mentioned) legit?" so that so can have an idea if your money is safe with them or not.

If someone introduced it to you, like a friend or an acquaintance, then you should ask them or should I say put the blame on them because maybe they were a part of that scam.

The money you've risked for them could take a lot of time and effort to get back when you're going to report it to the authority, let's just hope they would be serious about your case when you submit it to them. This could be a long chase because scammers online is pretty tough to find.

There's a guy on youtube who were revealing scammers (I don't know if he's a legit one or not) but give it a try. He might give you a hand if he is a legit one.

That's sad. Some sites are disguised as exchange, casino, etc. The possibilty that you can recover your funds is very little. Next time, do not trust these kind of sites. Legit sites will only deduct the transaction fee from your funds and if ever that it doesn't meetthe amount needed then that's the time to deposit some cash and withdraw it.

Didn't you notice that it is already a scam the moment that they kept adding additional fees? Don't let yourself be fooled when you encountered some of these sites again.

That's one of the issues of people who are in a hurry to make a profit, they do not take time to do a research and they do not ask first if the project is release, the hardest thing is they keep asking for additional money to scam their victims, they are like a leech they will not let you go until your last blood.

I have not heard nor read about the site better create a scam accusation about this website in the scam section so other people will be warned.

Why need to reach $100k before realizing that you are a Scam victim?
where in the world that you need to pay more money just to get your own Funds?this is inappropriate for either newbies or old timer here in crypto.
The only thing I can add is that you spoke up too late and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it. That is also my concern why need to take long time before this happens?

But OP is asking for agencies that can help Them at least file cases in real life against sites that scams them.
Lucky that i never become a victim and will never be one .

you should try to contact coinkast.io customer service for you to ask for clarity, because that is the only way so that your assets can be returned

Lots of newbies experience the same thing as you, because if you are a victim of crypto scams, it is almost impossible to recover your losses.
After all, some countries haven't legalized crypto yet, so there are no agencies to help you. Except the country where you live, crypto has been
legalized by the government, you can ask the police for help to track down the scammers who have tricked you. This is a lesson for all of us,
that don't invest in unpopular platforms. Like coinkast.io whose name I have never heard of.

this problem occurs very often. This is the weakness of crypto if you don't have your own legal entity to regulate crypto services, there will be many scammers and many victims in this case. So your best bet is to try contacting coinkast.io for an explanation

I am sorry but you are truly an idiot. How someone like you even manages to end up having that amount of money disgusts me. I wish I had that money, gosh what I could do with it. YOu just threw away a life changing amount to a scammer. That money went to a scammer instead of honest exchanges. People like you damage yourselves and the rest of us. It annoys me that if they took 100k from you how much from others? They can do one scam and retire.  Angry

https://coinkast.io/pricing

Why on earth would you need a "package" to trade on an exchange? 5 trades / day?? Wtf are you kidding me?? People trade thousands of times. These packages cost up to 50k $$ holy hell these scammers aim high

"The minimum deposit amount will depend on the base currency of your account of $500 or its equivalent in EUR, GBR and AUD"

The minimum deposit is $500??? Lol so legit....

"Client's Testimonials" why would an exchange need this? Testimonials are a classic scam technique to make you think they are being vouched for and are trusted. Scams are always so desperate to prove they are legit. Legit exchanges do not need to tell you they are legit. It's just silly.

"We do not accept Fiat on our trading platform as we are fully a cryptocurrency organisation." Yet they ask for KYC? "You will need to provide a copy of a valid government-issued ID. (Passport, driver’s license, ID card)"
Typical for scammers to ask for KYC.

What were you thinking? Why did you fall for this? You deserve this and only have yourself to blame. I don't feel sorry for you.

You are even more stupid then I thought because not only did you just for for a scam you are about to fall for a second scam. You just asked if there is a plave you can go to that will help you get your funds back. Yes there are plenty and they are all scams. They double scam you. You haveto be a special kind of stupid to fall for those.

Your fund are gone there is nothing you can do that website can dissapear over night and now they know who you are where you live and have your money.

It's really sad to hear such an experience, most newbies are fooled by scammers. They are often victims because scammers take advantage of the newbie's desire to make money. There is very little chance for you to get your money back, this will serve as a lesson to you and next time be careful don't ever trust so easily.

That is a huge money. But like others, I don't think if there are resources to help recover your money. The best you can do, I guess, is that you work so that you can earn the money you lost. I hope you've learned from this. Never ever trust anything like that again. Do some research first. Remember, think before you click. Always be cautious.

I don't know what country you are in, but over $100 k is such huge money I will have second thought investing even $1000 to an exchange that is not even popular in the community, what made you decide to invest here when there are other options and those other options are big exchange with a good reputation, I doubt if you can get your money back the address on their webpage could be wrong better create a scam report, so people will be aware.

Most of the resources I've read about bitcoin warn against unrecognized exchange/trading platforms and explain that once they get your coins, it's almost impossible to get them back. If you can trace the owner of the platform and gather as much proof that you've been scammed as possible, there's a chance you can sue them and recover your losses.

yes, this is why it is also important for all of us here to be more careful about the things that happen with cryptocurrency. We do not know that we may end up too or  from the traps of scam activities or hacking site. The most important thing to be safe is to use offline or hardware wallet for those hackers and for the exchanges is one should bookmark legit exchange site, and or to make sure of using sites that has been known good and no bad reputation. Being aware makes everything fall into smoother doing business with cryptocurrency of any if its platform.

That is a very huge loss having 100K usd is not really a joke. If there is an agency that could help you this then you can go to the authority and they will forward you to the right agency for this. Have you tried this in your place to reach out the authority? If it does and no progress then you can ask the scammer directly to ask him politely to hand over your money and om exchange you will be giving him out depending on the percentage you wanted to give out to the scammer. But this is rarely going to happen. Scammer will always going for scam for they too are in great needs to support their vices or etc.

The address says they are from UK you can do a research if the address is really correct, you can write a formal letter from their host and if you can prove by sending them emails that they are abusing their server then they will take down the site and if you can get a court order you can have the names of the people that website, there is a note in any privacy policy of websites that they can provide information under special circumstances.

In op's case, he did not invest the whole $100k at once, the scammers were able to get that huge amount of money from op by asking him to continuously send money. But the thing is, I don't know why op kept sending them money and just ask for help when it reaches $100k when it's already suspicious if they asked you to send funds to release your fund in the first place.

Op can report it to their government authorities in this field to give warning to other people but it's unlikely to get back the money he lost. It's a pity but that's the consequence of trusting easily on an exchange without properly researching.

You are in a big crisis right now because if you have no solid proof that they scammed you and you have no other details on how to go after them then you have a very small chances in getting  your money back.

It will be better if you will just consider it as your big losses and move on as you will only spend more money again just to go after them which is very costly and the chances that your money will likely to be returned is still very slim.

I feel so sorry for you man. I really am. Because I think there really is too little of a chance (if there is any) for you to be able to get back all those losses. This is because I too learned the hard way. It just so happened that I am lucky enough to not lose as much as what you have lost plus loans. That's why I really wish everyone who are just about to enter this industry would really put in the effort to do a thorough research about this industry. Because things like these happening only make the crypto currency industry look bad for the general public. Im not saying literally that you didn't do enough research because in some cases people just get caught off guard but you really should have been cautious. I hope others may learn from your story and be cautious about everything in this industry. Because it never hurts to be too cautious. Id rather be called paranoid than to lose my assets again.

Very well said. As I always tell those who are telling me that they want to start investing with cryptocurrency, always DOUBT everything first. In that way, you will investigate everything first before proceeding to any decisions. After all, it's better to be safe than sorry. As per the recovery of your losses, I do not think that it will really be possible to get them back.

Start by sharing your experience about the company, with aim of warning others of the scam. This would give them a bad press. Share this on different platforms. You don't have to go in to details. Soon, your posts will be showing up on Google showing that the company is in the business of scamming people. Let them know that you've started the campaign (nobody likes a bad press)! Next report to the police as that is fraud. Then write them a letter before court action, giving them 14 days to reply. Make sure you've kept all the evidence of the efforts you've made to contact them and get them to settle the matter. If they don't reply to your letter, use the small claims court - Take them to court.
DISCLAIMER - This is not a legal advise. I am just telling you what I would do if I was in your shoes

It always hurt when see people get scam of his Cryptocurrency what ever coin he is using, this is one of the risk of decentralization you cannot charge back, transactions are based on trusts, but we need to educate ourselves and do not trust easily there are a lot of benefits of decentralization than become a slave of centralization, this is a learning experienced for OP and for us who are reading this.

Do you know of any resources to help victims of crypto scams recover their losses?

I was a victim of one made by coinkast.io where they had me pay more money to release my funds and then they kept adding additional fees... so basically I lost $100k+ and I need to recover it someone especially since much of that were loans I took out.
Little to no chance that your money will get back.
I feel sorry for your lost. That money isn't a joke. $100,000 is a huge money seriously especially for me Cheesy.

What's worse is some of it are loans that you need to do just to get the money in that site but it turned out to be a scam site. Don't expect too much since it is very hard to track scams like this but maybe somebody can help you in any way possible.

The best approach  you could have done is to report to the right authority,to confirm if they are scammer or not before sending  money.

may i ask something?why does the amount need to hit 100k before you realized that it was a scam?
you are claiming about your funds and the site is asking you continuously to add more amount?
thats foolishness mate sorry for the word but that is is it.

If you are looking for the right agency?i believe that it is the cyber crime commission of your government to seek for your problem and claim.

It's really hard to turn back the money that has been stolen in this virtual world. When you are still having contact with that scammer then you better to block him or her, there are still some thoughts by scammers that they can still scam you so better not to entertain him anymore.
It's better to report the situation t the authority because they know the best thing to do with what happened to you.

After being scammed, you should now change your crypto wallet information, change your passwords, and impotent details. Make it a lesson for you, know how scammers approach a person so the next time it would happen again, you know what to do.

Holy cow $100,000 USD hurts a lot! I dont think my total earned money since birth even reached that. There is little chance to recover online scams since scammers should have started prepared. Unless you manage to trace the exact locations and get to identify the people behind the scam. The biggest amount I got scammed was about $1,000 USD from an exchange which I already forgot about.

I felt it how to lose our money into someone that we think that can be trusted but somehow it is a person that also makes you suffered.
Ain't wonder why this drama will never have an end because many people are still living in scam ignorance and not even know how to learn from it. Because despite a lot of warnings that can be read anywhere but still they are still blinded to see the real possible situation.

There is no solution for this but just ourselves only. If we are able to understand how scamming works, it surely we can avoid it.

You cannot recover the money that you lost and there is no body able to help you and it is wrong to send more money to the fraudsters so you should forget about that money and start a new business and avoid the fraudsters because they will continue to exploit you and steal your money

This is the reason why scammers are full of nerves to continue to scam people endlessly because they are confident they cannot be traced or detected by the authorities and walk away and vanish like thin air. As always they will find again new ways to scam people all over again. To solve this, people should be more aware and be vigilant as a first defense form online scammers and by that ways of prevention, less people or no more victims will be in the future.

That really feels bad. Losing Cryptocurrency due to some scam and carelessness is some of the worst experience that can be experienced by users of the forum. Its also hard to report these kinds of issues since what we are chasing are people that are over the Internet and that can be hard since people can be around the World and not just the same country we are in. I guess another way to look for those people is by tracking their IP addresses? Since one way or another there can be tracks left by them.

Inexperience is what activates trust. Is not a good thing to be involved in scam on your coin, this is unfortunate. Most of us have experienced a thing as such because we were inexperienced. Lesson is to avoid what looks too good being true.

Mate, are you kidding here? How do you pay fees to release funds from an exchange? A legit exchange will never ask you to pay fees to release your funds from their website, rather they will look for ways to solve your problem, that’s if it’s within their reach to solve that problem, but as for a problem that they can’t solve they will let you know that they can’t solve, for example – sending money to a wrong address.

I don’t get how people tell you all to be paying fees to get your funds back and you keep giving extra money to them. I have seen another newbie talk about this before, though he didn’t fall for it. He invested $3k in a fake exchange and they asked for $1,500 to get his funds back, but he was smart enough to suspect that something is wrong.

I feel a little what you feel, I pray for you. There is really only a small chance that your money will come back, you can try to trick "scam" them back with a little threat and if you can find out their location then that would be better. Cybercrime is difficult for individuals to handle, try asking for help from some people that you know who can help you for free, maybe a friend who is an expert in cybersecurity. I don't want to scold you because I can't come up with a solution for you

Actually yes ..
If cybercrime does not stand still and is developing rapidly, then the authorities that must fight it and prevent crimes are developing very slowly, if they do not stand still.

This is saddening to know. Scammers won't really stop unless they know that they will be caught.
Lack of experience could lead to such events and let us all observe extraordinary diligence.
You are lucky if you have some who's expertise is cyber security, and I think that is one of the steps for solution.

Unfortunately, most cybersecurity professionals are scammers. It’s hard to admit, but it’s true that those people who help to protect themselves, they will then "make" you.

This problem often occurs in the crypto world; Proportionately newbies here are more vulnerable to scammers for their ignorance. To my knowledge it is almost impossible to recover money from being the victim of a crypto scam. From here, things get trickier, and this is where the true learning begins! There will also be little benefit from legal action here; However you can try contacting coinkast.io customer service,   they may be able to help you get your assets back.

I think only the cyber crime commission in your country will help you to know who is that scammer that take away your money. $100k is really a huge amount and it's difficult to pay debt or loans. I hope you will recover your money even you have only a little hope to recover it and even it was not yet complete because I'm sure the scammer spent already some of your money.

This is the drawbacks of being  pseudonymous, you get in a pseudonymous network get scammed by pseudonymous people. Self-teaching is the best counter move for this one, if you know what you are doing then you are less likely to be scammed. If you know who you are dealing with like reputable escrow service provider then you are less likely to be scammed. At the end of the day your security lies in you, to yourself, not with exchanges, not with your passwords or every thing, it is no your decision making.

I guess another way to look for those people is by tracking their IP addresses? Since one way or another there can be tracks left by them.
IP isn't reliable most of the time, do you think these hackers or scammers will use their IP that can be easily traced by the authorities?
The only way we can get them is when they leave a footprint or a hole where we can see them.

It is a pity to write such words, but there is a slight chance to get something that you lost. Because to prove your losses or to find persons that will be able to return your lost assets is extremely hard in most cases. And of course there are some agencies that investigate such cases I am sure but not so many people can tell us the happy results of such investigations. I lost assets when I started in crypto world because I did not have the experience in this direction. But I would like to admit that even having the good experience nobody will guarantee you that you will be secured from losses. So just forget. And be very attentive and more selective next time..

There are definitely lots of scams out there. I've been scammed before and I just decided to move on with my life. It was a total waste of time if you try to track down those scammers in my opinion. Holding a grudge against them will only hurt you.

If you get scam by those scammer then there was nothing you can do about it. Just keep walking and forget it. i know it hurt but there was nothing you can do. That why newbies that wanna to make a trading on exchanges need to know which one is legit and which one is not. Also be safe where you wanna put your money on. There was no turning back after you put your money at the exchanges. That why you being told many time to use money that you can afford to lose.

There are lots of scam and once you've been victimized then you don't have any other choice but to move forward
and continue life, treat the experienced as building blocks to succeed from anything that you desire to achieved.

It was a total waste of time if you try to track down those scammers in my opinion. Holding a grudge against them will only hurt you.
You'll keep regretting the experienced if you keep truing to chased them down, be practical and learn from this mistake
you'll still have good life if you choose to proceed and find the right ways.

You have been scammed by another of the many scams that have infiltrated the crypto world today. I do believe that as much as this is painful and disappointing, you have learnt your lessons. Sites or schemes that promise double of an investment or free money should avoided in order not to learn the bitter truth.
It is only unfortunate that there is no one or agency that can help you  recover these funds. I only wish you didn't have to take out loans get the money requested by the scam site

People wont learn if they wont experience these kind of devastation and not to be harsh but majority had gone through this on where we do believe that easy money do exist and later on when
we get scammed then those expectations and hopes are gone.$100k lost wont really be just a typical amount but seeking up for help by some agencies or whatsoever will be impossible.
Crypto transactions are irreversible and once you have sent it then theres no way on turning back no matter how hard you do seek for legal matters but getting those coins or funds back
is not really that possible. So better move on and take this a very costly lesson.

In this crypto ecosystem, there is nothing like resources to help people who have been scammed to recover their lost coins. Its quite sad that you have lost $100k+, but you should find a different way like getting a job to recover some of the funds rather than searching for agencies to help you recover your funds. You might get scammed again if you continue to search for this.

That why you being told many time to use money that you can afford to lose.

I heard this many times to count. If you have money that is only enough to pay rent, electric and internet bills, forget about taking money risks because it will definitely make your life worse when you give all of your money. It sucks when you need to borrow some money to survive.

most likely the funds that have been sent will not be returned to investors so that they do not get your hopes up with a guarantee to get a fund.this is where a sincere attitude is needed and remains optimistic that there will definitely be a way out to replace these funds.

The thing about crytpo is that once you send your money to someone there is no chance for your money to come back.
There is nobody you can complaint to because the scammers would have already received your money and they are not gonna return it to you.
Consider it as once the money is gone it's gone. But yeah if it is a company that is scamming many people or a hacker that has scammed millions of money then "May be" the cyber crime cell can catch them but even that does not guarantee to receive the money back.

The only thing OP can do right now is to just make a reporting of the involved address to the cybercrime agencies for help. The money involved is big and shouldn't be just let go without any action from the victim, also, making a formal report to the police or those agencies that are responsible for such investigation. Although the funds won't be easily bring back because of stolen coins history, hope you get your coins back - good luck.

I once became a victim of fraud, but I made certain conclusions and therefore do not trust anyone but myself in the crypto industry.

You don't need to. Cryptocurrency supporters have no physical face or location that you can go to undo any wrong. So is you and only you against another person, that's the receiver whom you don't know. So if you make any mistake the hardship is only for you to experience.

Lol..since I joined this community I have not seen someone that has been scam and it happened to retrieved it's finance or cryptoccurrency which is involved,
That is the reasons majority in forum carries out a protest concerning scammers knowing that if someone is been scammed  or victimized any were no amount can he or she get it's money back.

We really emphasised about scammers before now because before we adventure into investments platform's we should observe and research very well concerning the platform, because many people are using scam as a source of revenue. Which no one of us is exempted, including newbies and senior members in bitcointalk community.

Hello, how are you all? I hope you are very well personally, the cryptocurrency as such is not the scam scams are third-party platforms that offer you a great return on money or a good Roi that if they are the real scam and of course the false pages that they do is steal you the identity, greetings to all @danielgrosso

Unfortunately, most cybersecurity professionals are scammers. It’s hard to admit, but it’s true that those people who help to protect themselves, they will then "make" you.

Where did you get such an unambiguous conclusion? There are many cybersecurity firms and companies out there. All of them strictly depend on their own reputation. If those for whom these firms work are hacked, they will receive the most unflattering feedback and a huge churn of customers. Moreover, each employee is identified, which will lead to the application of a certain kind of responsibility to him in case of fraud.

Retrieving bitcoin that is already sent to someone's wallet without the awareness of the recipient, i think is very difficult.that many people emphasis scammers and investment platform that is unknown to people, the problem is that do not allow people to scam because mistakenly been dumped their no remedy to retrieve your finance, because the don't have a particular base to locate.

That is the problem with cryptocurrency, it is not being taken seriously by law enforcement, at least in my turf. If you got scammed then that would be it, you can rant all about it on social media and in this forum but you will not get anywhere. But since we have a new cybercrime laws for internet related crimes then at least the best you can do is talk to law enforcement for the meantime so you can have a record and they will have a record of it and that point they could start with an investigation. You might need good lawyers for this and split the money that you can get from the suspect if get caught, to the attorney who will lead the case for you. It will be a long battle I think. With that said, good luck.

There are many exchanges launching in the market. I can't blame all the exchange, but many exchange doings good service of transactions with a little fee.when they get popularity  in the market. They go away from the market & the investors reach to bad conditions by money. Scammers are already active in the market. But l remember that in crypto currency isn't hunter by the scammers. Ultimately we should be aware before investment.
