Hi

My problem is, I had loaded my wallet seen there was 0.03 btc, sent two additional transactions
One    of  0.02123
Other of  0.06943

After letting both confirm I was left with both transactions I had made that day but
My original balance has dissapeared.

This is the first time this strange thing has happened. I have used electrum for years
Would ideally like to have a word with someone as this is the first wallet im usingthat hasnt got contact
Details to talk.

They have a number but im outside of usa, or if anyone here could walk me through where it could of gone
Il be greatful but there was like 300 usd before starting sending transfers now there was
Only the two that had been sent ontop of it.. not the 300 usd nowhere to be seen

What version of wallet are you using?
EVERY CONTACT PHONE NUMBER FOR ELECTRUM SUPPORT WILL BE A Scam- I'm guessing you found them on a search engine. They're not in the US either I thought the main devs a were in Germany and Russia.

Can you see a transaction leaving your wallet also in the history tab? And when did you receive these funds?

Hi yes there a was a search engine involved in the search, thanks for the advice too. Appreciated

There is a few transactions that clouds up where they could have gone too. It does show transfers coming
And leaving the last few transactions. Dont see where it would of gone too

When the wallet fully synchronized it was there. Normally some wallets I use flash the prior balance before loading
The exact balance, I waited for it to synchronize double tripe checked. Was suprised, would of had about a 100 usd in there
But btc has been rising so the 300 usd is not out of the ordinary.

Il check the version its the 3.3.8 standard Electrum. Had nothing but great remarks about how sturdy the wallet is
But this little hiccup is worth chasing up for the btc involved

The specified funds would have been left in the wallet havent got a date of recieving them but last time using the wallet
Was on the 28th of last month 28/07 it does have a minus next to it for 0.031 which is the amount specified. Guess the minus means it left the wallet. Question is why would it have showed me that as my balance. I have had 2 transfers after that. Still showed me balance as 0.031 and not the transactions placed after. It could all be a big misunderstanding but like I say previous balance/transfers that show on a loaded wallet on mine isnt unusual,  whats unusual is this continued to stay and now added two transactions to the wallet. The first lot of coin has dissolved. Dont want to miss out on 300 usd. Was pretty sure it was my balance. Seeing as electrum dont offer help
Got to stay as balanced with the resolution I could admittedly be causing a fuss or could be loosing some dollar. Which ever one would like to clarify. Thanks for the help though

Can you try checking you bitcoin address through a bitcoin blockchain explorer like: http://blockchair.com to be able to a certain if the Bitcoins were actually moved out. Better still you can post your bitcoin address here for members to help you understand what happened if you don't mind.

Do not call random numbers you search online because electrum team have no phone number available one their website for support. You could end up getting scammed.

Since you use the wallet for years you might be still using a low version of Electrum?
Did you update the Electrum wallet before? Have you seen something on Electrum that asking to update your Electrum with links and updated to the latest version(A popup message)?

If you click the link from the popup message/notification from Electrum it will lead you to the fake Electrum website to download the fake Electrum.
If you install that wallet there's a big chance that you used a fake Electrum wallet.

Or it might be a syncing issue. Try to check the circle lower left of the electrum if what color.

Hi where could the bitcoin address be, when I double click the transaction in query it has a few different address on it il post the TxiD incase its the one

17f4a96f538d4b26a0a55b87ac3258c6fa86bbfd1e8ffddb9784d5a2e4d7d65a

There wasnt an update I have clicked on through anywhere, what I see could of happened is where the wallet is used on my primary laptop too could of confused the wallet when I logged in through my this device, still have yet to see an available balance stay there for so long if it wasnt genuine, wanted to get on with receiving/ transferring thats why I didnt thoroughly check what it was doing there, was going to come back too it but by then my new trades merged and it got a while lot more confusing

Thats why my last transaction on this laptop is from the 28th of last month and would be more recent from my one where its logged in else where

I downloaded electrum on this laptop May dont think they have bought a new update out since, but then again I dont know of timeframes electrum aims to let out updates, hope one hasnt been since May, could you loose coins if you have not got the update??Many thanks for the help

Regards

From you the transaction ID you sent. It shows that your electrum wallet consists of 5 addresses which were used to receive Bitcoins at different times.

1. bc1qwfwl4sa8zwmrawhu0dj7ctgu4jzswvpkkwxuq6 received 0.00001416 BTC on 2020-07-20 01:06

2. bc1qjt2v2eshakfn4t06drhp2mm6sdjrz3ry58pqpq received 0.00002000 BTC on 2020-07-20 01:06

3. bc1q92depkzeh6vu9x80ctfzekqa5ekd43fhcz8sp9 received 0.00094334 BTC on 2020-07-24 12:42

4. bc1qs5rmpyu3w2uqsewftmwx5a3lejx3h92falay6h received 0.00200862 BTC on 2020-07-25 09:47

5. bc1qkxdjn28vkc7qpf2ppgvqh6skeytzkvw6z6l74x received 0.02895000 BTC on 2020-07-27 22:34

And there was one main transaction that sent out your Bitcoins (0.03156806 BTC worth 353.23 USD at that time) to this address - 38Ljhn2ZfXJkKpYFKsEjPyiCBmvHumteYP on 2020-07-28 01:24 (I believe that was you who did this)

There is no other transaction after that day. Maybe you sent coins to different wallet. The Bitcoins you saw could have been a syncing problem but you had already moved then on 28th.

And No, you can't lose coins if you haven't updated your app.

I downloaded electrum on this laptop May
Remember to do folllowing things:
I don't trace your transaction history but you can always check your balance from block exlorers. Sometimes wallet does not show correct statistics for your balance because of problems with synchronisation. Pay your attention on sync icon at bottom right corner. If your wallet is synced it has a green icon.

Have you, by chance stored the "seed phrase" online?
That's the 12-word backup that Electrum instructed you to write during the wallet creation.

Because anyone who has access to it will have access to your wallet whether they know your passphrase, access to your wallet, or not.

Because anyone who has access to it will have access to your wallet whether they know your passphrase, access to your wallet, or not.
You are right. Or, maybe his private key to the electrum wallet is also leaked to the attacker. Also very possible his computer had unknowingly installed malware intended by hackers.

@Dssd123. The transaction has been sent already, if not you that initiated it, then, we are so sorry. Your bitcoin is gone and the transaction is not reversable. All you can do now is to check for malware on your computer, formating the computer can be necessary and checking no malware data on it again. Also, getting another electrum wallet is very important, backup the seed phrase in a place that is safe from scammers and damages.

[/quote]

This probably is correct as I have an additional wallet that gives on option to choose what kind of address you want to receive btc too, the shortest ones are the segwit compatibility easiest to read and write from separate devices least stress to and they start with 3 100% of the time, next time if I see any coin in my wallet upon loading and synchronizing

I will divulge into why its there and where else it could be stored while I use it for the days purpose  then come back to it ifit has been safely stored elsewhere. Instead of folding it over into a flurry of new trades, btc balances that are laggy is not what im used too its something I could expect from using other cyrpto than btc, but I have to be ready for all possibilities

There couldnt be a way the seed was leaked electronically.  I store them offline but still on computer too, will may take a further step to prevent future attacks and store it further than where it currenty is take it off the computer and store it cold I believe the terminology is.

I dont really know of the gap limit but do know if the wallet was used on only one channel from one device having this happened would be more shocking but where I did restore the wallet on another device the sync up may not of collated properly, although have experience with wallets this is the first time I have tethered it elsewhere so new plausible scenarios are welcomed

Its shocking about not needing the passphrase to load the wallet and with the seed people could access funds. Just makes me want to be a step closer to strong internet security

If you believe that the computer is compromised, you have to backup all the important files and reinstall windows. Cold storage means that the seed is never loaded into your online computer and all transactions are done using the offline computer only.
Hmm. Gap limit shouldn't likely be an issue unless you manually generated new addresses from the seed and the wallet missed it.
Its shocking about not needing the passphrase to load the wallet and with the seed people could access funds. Just makes me want to be a step closer to strong internet security
Keeping the seed safe is all it takes. If you store it on a piece of paper in a safe, the only attacks it susceptible to is any power tools at your safe or a $5 wrench attack.

This is the first time this strange thing has happened. I have used electrum for years
Since you use the wallet for years you might be still using a low version of Electrum?
Did you update the Electrum wallet before? Have you seen something on Electrum that asking to update your Electrum with links and updated to the latest version(A popup message)?

If you click the link from the popup message/notification from Electrum it will lead you to the fake Electrum website to download the fake Electrum.
If you install that wallet there's a big chance that you used a fake Electrum wallet.

Or it might be a syncing issue. Try to check the circle lower left of the electrum if what color.
From what he said about the version involved i.e. 3.3.8 it prevents such fake fishing  messages to be displayed to user.
Maybe for now but it good to always you the updated version of every wallet to avoid messes.

There couldnt be a way the seed was leaked electronically.  I store them offline but still on computer too, will may take a further step to prevent future attacks and store it further than where it currenty is take it off the computer and store it cold I believe the terminology is.
Follow the advice said above and never have your seeds save on computer either it offline or online.

Its shocking about not needing the passphrase to load the wallet and with the seed people could access funds. Just makes me want to be a step closer to strong internet security
Seeds are enrich with the same information just as private keys and it can also be use to generate wallet private keys. So, if an attackers know your wallet seeds he can easily import your wallet.
Read electrum official documentation for better understanding.

electrum doesn't have a phone number. you likely have a fake version of electrum. i suggest you check your browser history for the exact download url. it should be download.electrum.org or just electrum.org.

Hi appreciate all input, also advice. Will see that the seed is not any where near a keyboard/laptop/computer or a cheap safe power tools is another question but something a 5 $ wrench wouldnt do much too.

The electrum number was generated as a result of a google search, have briefly surfed through the electrum documentation and it seems they have set it all up perfectly to not need input from a 3rd party. Which could always be compromised as an attacker could find what methods or platforms are being used to support customers and imitate a worker. Should have looked into it more thoroughly

I was less thinking on the compromised side of things and more a glitch, when there are two devices that have joint access it could become apparent this is the reason not a vulnerability that another has gotten something from. The balance was there for an extended period though what made me question had time to get a quote of amount through preev and come back to it.

A very helpful member of this community screened the txid and put to rest abit that it was sent to a wallet of mine so im back to being an electrum believer

~snip~

What terms did you use when searching the Electrum number on Google?

I can't find any contact number for Electrum if you found Electrum number on the search engine they are a most likely scam.
I tried to use "Electrum number" but I can't find the number but when I use this term "Electrum contact number" it shows this

The real Electrum doesn't have any contact number if you want to contact them and get the help you can use the links from this page https://electrum.org/#community
Or bring this issue directly from their Github issues from here https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues

Or you can get help from these links below.

Do you still have the installer of the Electrum?
You can try to verify if you are using real Electrum by following this method "How to verify Electrum (for Windows, Linux and Mac)"

Incase if it's valid there is a big chance that there is someone who knows your seed phrase or your PC is monitored/Controlled or might have a keylogger.
Try to scan the whole PC with Malwarebytes and Kaspersky Total security(You can use it for trial). And let see if your PC is not infected with any malware and virus.

I just check out that link. It's from a medium article of a fake account which was created claiming to be support for Electrum. I don't know how medium works when it comes to reporting accounts but I have reported the user. I hope it gets taken down.

A very helpful member of this community screened the txid and put to rest abit that it was sent to a wallet of mine so im back to being an electrum believer
In other words, the issue was just a cloudy memory?

-snip- when I logged in through my this device, still have yet to see an available balance stay there for so long if it wasnt genuine,
Okay, I think you wanted to know why the previous balance was still displayed that time despite being sent to your other wallet.
The reason is: Electrum won't instantly deduct the unconfirmed outgoing transaction from the balance displayed below.
Something like this will be displayed next to the balance instead: "[-0.0xxxxx unconfirmed]", It needs to be confirmed first before actually deducting from the balance.

Plus last month's final week had a bit high average transaction fee IIRC so that Tx should've been sitting in your wallet unconfirmed for a week or two.

I store them offline but still on computer too, will may take a further step to prevent future attacks and store it further than where it currenty is take it off the computer and store it cold I believe the terminology is.

Generally, it is advised to not store the mnemonic code on an internet-connected device.
Storing it offline is usually the best method.

Since your mnemonic code already has been stored on an online device, removing it from there doesn't make it automatically more secure.
Especially since your wallet is being used on an internet-connected PC anyway.

Don't get me wrong. Not storing it anymore on your PC definitely is a good first step. But it doesn't decrease the risks by a lot.

Its shocking about not needing the passphrase to load the wallet and with the seed people could access funds. Just makes me want to be a step closer to strong internet security

You can encrypt the mnemonic code. Quite a lot of wallets offer the option to use a passphrase together with the BIP39 (or electrum) mnemonic code.
