Accidentally paid a vendor in mBTC instead of BTC and I am now worried that I will not be refunded. Where does the money go if the vendor does not accept the mBTC? I am a newbie in case it took you this long to deduce. I hope I don't have to pay again.

1 mbtc/millibtc is 1/1000 of a btc. I'd tell us if you used a service like bitpay but contact the vendor if it was a smaller or local service and ask if you can send the rest..
You'll just have to send 99x of what you previously sent in a transaction (or mice the point by 3).

Click on the electrum wallet and you will see your balance displaced at the top side of the wallet. Immediately you send bitcoin, your electrum balance will be updated automatically. Just check your balance, the amount of bitcoin seen is your remaining bitcoin.

You can find the transaction ID on the history tab. Right click on the relevant transaction and select 'details'. EDIT: OK, I see now that you've already solved it.

Just in case you come back could you suggest what you did to fix it to help others that come across this topic? It'll be helpful if someone has the same problem.

Many bitcoin units are listed in [Did you know?] Bitcoin Table of Units. Personally, I don't want to mess up things because my brain needs more space to remember other valuable things. My first priority is always BTC, next mBTC but honestly I almost don't use mBTC for my wallet or on casinos. mBTC is only helpful if your balance is less than 0.001 BTC.

This is still one of my pet peeves regarding Electrum... that it defaults to mBTC as the unit to display the balance ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) I know it's easy enough to change, but it still seems to regularly catch out new users who end up getting "dust" errors when trying to send a transaction for 0.001 "BTC" not realising they're actually using mBTC and trying to send 0.00000100 BTC etc... or, like OP here, send less than the desired amount to the recipient and wonder where the rest of their coins went... ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) It's still an excellent wallet tho! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

It's still an excellent wallet tho! ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) If you ignore that you literally have zero privacy since the server you are connecting to knows everything about you (all addresses, transactions, IP, times of the day you are online, ...) and that new privacy enhancing features are not implemented, then yes. Kind of "excellent". I have to agree that it is very user-friendly tho.. so since a lot of people don't care about privacy, i'd say that's still good enough for most people.

Given that the Electrum server I connect to is mine... connected to my own full node... I am fairly comfortable with my "zero privacy" ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

It looks like OP are using an electrum wallet to avoid getting confused with the use of this mBTC and BTC I suggest you convert your balance into BTC format. At the upper part Click the Tools > Preferences ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FdmViofi.jpg&t=664&c=whbO6yrXxaXkyw) Click General > Basic unit. Choose BTC also you have other choices. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FBdbuufn.jpg&t=664&c=EdwXMAE2eBpBDw) I hope this may help you.

Given that the Electrum server I connect to is mine... connected to my own full node... I am fairly comfortable with my "zero privacy" ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) That's a different story. But i am pretty sure the majority of people who are new to bitcoin, do not run their own full node and have their electrum server set up on top of it. And exactly these kind of people completely give up on their privacy when using electrum. Especially when recommending electrum, mentioning the loss of privacy and a hint on how to preserve it by running a full node + electrum server might be useful ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
