There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Dude, the article didn't center on Bruce.  They interviewed him and used his photo to fill space.  And it was a really really good article, AND it mentioned Bruce's fraud.  Don't get your panties in such a bunch.  It was a good article, and good for bitcoin.  (And as an aside, I like Bruce! So nyeh!!)

I'll not be trusting the guy any time soon. The whole MyBitcoin thing was enough for me (and the aftermath... I'm still shaking my head at him trying to get involved with the bounty on the identity of the owner of MyBitcoin.)

IMHO - the bitcoin community is far better off without him at this point than with him.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.

ATTENTION BFL MINING NEWBS: Just got your Jalapenos in? Wondering how to get the most value for the least hassle? Give BitMinter a try! It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Sign up in seconds to try it!)

I'm curious, how is it good for bitcoin? The name of the article is The Rise and Fall of Bitcoin. While it's all true and correct information it seems to show the vulnerabilities of bitcoin and it magnetic attraction of undesirable circumstances/people.

Or do you mean any press that brings awareness is good? Perpetutate the ponsi?

After people have read enough Bitcoin obituaries over several years, they might get the hint that it's not going to die.

We can all bash on Bruce all we want but he has done more than 99% of us to help get Bitcoin where it is today.

Last Price: 2.32499

I couldn't agree with you more.

Very nice.

I await the followup Wired article.  I would suggest someone from here start contacting them first before they find out the fun about Bruce on their own.

What would you tell Wired about Bruce?

That he fled the state and moved to New york in an effort to avoid a 6 figure ruling against him for fraud, that he posted on a public forum that you should tip thai boy prostitutes after fucking them like he does, or just that he is considered the worst interviewer in the history of fake tv. I doubt they'll care though.

"This is why we can't have nice things."

FUNNY!

BTW, Bitcoin isn't dead until the last miner turns out the light...and even then reviving it (or its protege) is no problem. That mainstream media declares it dead is EXACTLY what is preferable.

Organic growth is far more sustainable, and a much better investment, than any Wagner-to-the-moon effect. The market is going to COME TO BITCOIN because of what is happening in the world, not because of any carny barking.

It's all about functionality meeting timing.
