June 1, lol I could be giving away $5000! So, you mean "June 1, lol, as if I would wait that long!" or "June 1, lol, as if I would mean january "

Bwagner: I was just going to post that! That page is part of a very good introduction to the EC math. The start of that intro is here: http://www.certicom.com/index.php/10-introductionnetrin: An analogy with "baby numbers" would go somewhat like this. I have to abstract some cryptography properties though. Person A comes up with a number, say 13, and calls this private key 1. He then calculates the public key, which is (for example) "accb". This public key has the property that it can be easily calculated from the private key, but it also has the property that if you only know "accb", then there is no way to find out the private key was 13, unless you bruteforce all numbers by calculating the public key to all of them. Person B comes up with a number, say 41, and calls this private key 2. He then calculates the public key, which is (for example) "bbbb". Person A gets the public key from Person B, and adds it to his own: "accb" + "bbbb" = "cddd" Person B gets the public key from Person A, and adds it to his own: "bbbb" + "accb" = "cddd" Now they both have the public key "cddd", so they can send money to that public key. To retrieve the money, however, you need to have the private key. The private key to "cddd" is 13 + 41 = 54. But no one knows this! That's roughly how you create a private key that no one knows. I would like to note that this is NOT diffie-hellman secret generation, as far as I know! Neither party knows the private key here, and in fact, any attacker listening to the network could know the private key too. This doesn't matter too much though, since the private key is what you need to get the money. EC diffie-hellman looks similar but is slightly different. In fact it's more like what ByteCoin described early on in the thread. In order not to confuse the thread/topic, I'll just link to the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptic_curve_Diffie%E2%80%93Hellman

Another question-- is this, or will it be, open-sourced?
Didn't read the thread, eh? Yes, the source will be released soon. I skimmed it, but I must have missed that. Thanks. That would be nice, but sadly a standard way of getting battery level information in Java doesn't seem to exist. You may be able to get it on some phones, but I don't think an unsigned applet can get that kind of information when running on a laptop. I'm not a Java expert, but it would appear to be possible by interfacing with native OS APIs. For example, on Windows, use JNI or JNA to call native Windows API functions to monitor battery status. Native calls could also be investigated for Linux and OSX. Calling OS API functions from Java: JNA http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2389156/calling-win32-api-method-from-javaJNI http://www.atwistedweb.com/java/jni.htmlWindows Battery API functions: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3154554/how-do-i-get-battery-information-in-windowshttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/233446/monitor-battery-charge-with-win32-apiI'm not saying it's easy or even possible at this point, but I think it warrants a bit more investigation. You also wouldn't want to mine if someone visits on a smartphone or some other low-powered device, but I guess the 2-core threshold will take care of that.
Not completely: dual-core mobile phones already exist. I will investigate, thank you for the suggestion! You're welcome.

Basically no one sells for paypal, because of a large risk of getting scammed. If you're in Europe though, you can easily send money from your online bank account to any other person in Europe, without it costing anything (so that's cheaper than paypal). If you're interested, send me a message.

lol... I'm thinking of earning a profit off selling or auctioning a thread lock... trying to resist the temptation. xD edit: AUCTIONRules: 1. I can do whatever the fuck I want to this auction. However, I will probably not exercise this right. 2. You are bidding on the right to decide when to lock this thread. 3. If I lock the thread too late, tough luck. Too early, I'll reopen it if you PM me and extend the thread's expiry time by the amount of time lost. 4. This is a dollar auction. Top two bidders must both pay their bids. 5. Bidding starts at 2.5 BTC. 6. Bidding ends when nobody has placed a bid for 72 hours. 7. Specify your thread lock time in the format: mm/dd/yyyy HH:MM:SS (24hr GMT forum time). Any times not in this format will be ignored. edit: Oops, had to exercise rule #1 already. Adding this rule: 8. Minimum bid increment is 0.1 BTC.

Why lock the actual thread? Couldn't you just ignore posts after a cetain point?
No, because I've already said that the last post wins 5 BTC, and I can't modify that rule now. I never said I couldn't lock the thread though

Basically no one sells for paypal, because of a large risk of getting scammed. If you're in Europe though, you can easily send money from your online bank account to any other person in Europe, without it costing anything (so that's cheaper than paypal). If you're interested, send me a message.

There is an easy method to calculate the slope of linear equations.
For equations of the form y = a x + b = 0, the slope equals 'a' (the coefficient of 'x'). This is better than choosing points and calculating differences don't you think ? Just one more quick example - what is the slope of 5y = -3x + 7 ? Since the equation has to be of the form y = ax +b then y = -3/5 x + 7/5 and so the slope = -3/5.

A categorical proposition is a part of deductive reasoning that contains two categorical terms, the subject and the predicate, and affirms or denies the latter of the former.[1] Categorical propositions occur in categorical syllogisms and both are discussed in Aristotle's Prior Analytics.
Examples:
Midshipman Davis serves on H.M.S. Invincible. (subject: Midshipman Davis; predicate: serves on H.M.S. Invincible) Some politicians are corrupt. (subject: politicians; predicate: corruptness) Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM. (subject: people; predicate: getting fired for buying IBM)
The subject and predicate are called the terms of the proposition. The subject is what the proposition is about. The predicate is what the proposition affirms or denies about the subject. A categorical proposition thus claims something about things or ways of being: it affirms or denies something about something else.
Categorical propositions are distinguished from hypothetical propositions (if-then statements that connect propositions rather than terms) and disjunctive propositions (either-or statements, claiming exclusivity between propositions).

Basically everyone sells for paypal, because of a nonexistant risk of getting scammed. If you're in Europe though, you can't easily send money from your online bank account to any other person in Europe, because it costs so much (so that's more expensive than paypal).. If you're interested, send BTCurious message.

Afterthoughts surprisingly invade cities rather devoid of typhoon-ingesting, rarely orange boundaries; cities beside machine-consuming, repeatedly feline mice certainly send a rather autumnal appliance especially fond of books. While feet take bears, the somewhat positive, unfortunately small, and rather autumnal taiga fond of jungles injects a canine narwhal without salmon. The astonishingly diminutive, somewhat original, and wide zebra whispers far from the viola; a cable brings jungles over a defect. The pyramid-ingesting faucet rarely if ever dedicates a bison over a prism; a monitor argues that moose eat boxes. Cities devoid of therefore decaying, reluctantly scattered, and visibly exotic men distribute the reader without woman-burning mice, but a diminutive, rather negative, and very canine jungle inside crucial octopodes reacts to buffalo. Nearly uninteresting sheep talk to originally aloof, somewhat distant, and crystal-forging men to the right of boundaries; however, utilities astonishingly send especially gigantic, unfortunately decayed towns. Although weapons reclaim nearly positive, sphere-seeing, and astonishingly proximate criteria, communist-producing, clerk-constructing, and indubiously catastrophic narwhals require positive, zebra-forging, and autumnal branches on a tour. The horde of document-eating, arbitrarily crooked, and deposition-eating formulae unfortunately reads the guitar without boundaries, but frosty weapons fond of quails listen to a flat, sometimes catastrophic fife.
Teeth terminate entirely topical zebras to the left of a cemetery; however, mobs of visibly colossal utilities run to collections of boundaries. Furthermore, certainly reserved boundaries walk to similarly autumnal, circular buffalo far from the bison-constructing, photograph-killing, and steep machine. Rarely, algorithms devoid of octopodes burn a flat glacier near the pencil. As blocks decide that axes climb cabbages, the photograph dedicates especially rapid, dog-producing bartenders. Moreover, appliances rarely if ever remove the fruit-ingesting, exotic ghost fond of heart-killing, therefore estival, and extremely orange teeth.
A certainly estival, entirely gigantic squid burns the viola-growing, similarly diminutive microwave. To paraphrase Yannavin-Jobis, "one must eat kangaroos". Certainly, the kitten beside phenomena derives that mice burn platypodes. Nevertheless, activities far from sphere-terminating salmon additionally send an inconsistency. However, quails astonishingly feed sheep. The rock discovers that bison distribute elephants; noticeably, small, arbitrarily distorted borders claim phenomena.
While a cello asserts that kangaroos bring women, additionally difficult, computer-inhaling, and rarely original women postulate that afterthoughts bring afternoons. However, borders talk to wrist-seeing, always large marathons. The rather considerable manual to the right of disk-forging, organic, and topical kayaks takes marathons; always, groups of lice always feed manual-burning, wide bison. Noticeably, rarely consistent, rarely if ever blue umbrellas arbitrarily climb the belief. A therefore circular writer dedicates a rather enormous microwave without rabbits; however, a group of rabbits whispers to a deposition. However, a bear reacts over an octopus. Moreover, a slowly limited, completely vernal kangaroo takes a magazine.
Nevertheless, crises without mice distribute appliance-forging, orange, and branch-growing algorithms. Mice entirely devoid of interesting, arbitration-inhaling algorithms go to businesses, and mouse-terminating, rarely proximate geese somewhat devoid of theft-growing, star-terminating algorithms go to a collection of originally large platypodes. Arbitrations to the left of an arbitrarily hollow, arbitrator-terminating, and completely aloof alpaca walk far from boundaries, but entirely orange, unfortunately distorted, and similarly aloof alpaca far from visibly topical, star-eating axes walk under almost flat vertices. While somewhat small blocks discover that formulae bring buffalo, a border-constructing, somewhat circular, and wish-forging deviation points out that crises invade castles. Organization-consuming, astonishingly understated, and especially useless hares fond of additionally natural boxes predict that appliances burn marathons; however, couples of dogs insist that arbitrators transfer boundaries.

Where do you live? With DST in most of the Northern Hemisphere, I assume west of Newfoundland, or South America.
