Let's face it, Bitcoin being pseudonymous is not exactly conducive with privacy by design.

Satoshi may have created something that gives us financial freedom and manual privacy control, but that does not mean he's is a good guy. Digital ID is coming either we like/want it or not, and for me that's disturbing be it an NFC-embedded card or a microchip. The fact that everything is moving to digital is a big risk overall, and it's not only privacy related although that's my biggest concern.

I think that the digital ID created by Satoshi would be better than the one created by social media. Most people leave hard digital trace on the Internet, and a lot of their habits and actions become known to those who then use this data for commercial purposes. But given that we already leave the trace, it's not either-or kind of situation, I would not want another digital identity, tied specifically to Bitcoin usage habits. To be honest, I don't understand why would anyone be excited about it. The authorities could get excited, but from the user's perspective I don't see how it could be a good thing.

as long as it, as well as bitcoin, was open source i would of been fine with it.

I welcome the idea of a digital ID system as long as it's implemented in a way that promotes individual liberty. We need a good way to exchange digital identities for payment, and it's going to happen sooner than later.

If he works on it without being pressured by anyone, I may be interested.
From my little understanding of him, I think he will create truely decentralized ID scheme that users can fully control and can be authenticated by applications/people without the owners exposing their identity to anyone.
I'd prefer a fool-proof decentralized identity scheme though.

What do you mean by that? If the original Bitcoin client had some digital ID features? Or if Satoshi returned today and started a digital ID project? If it's the first, I would be less interested in Bitcoin, I don't like KYC and all the other tracking technologies, and having some sort of forced ID in Bitcoin would make things even worse than they are now in terms of privacy. Though if it was opt-in, it probably wouldn't be as bad.

I agree with a lot of the other posts. As long as it is open sourced, if it's optional to include yourself and free market overall in expression, there's no drawback to this type of functionality. I think he would have been fine with it.

Well if he had worked on digital identity instead of Bitcoin I can't say if I'll be enthused, maybe it's cause of my proclivity to Bitcoin (built over two years now) and how the Bitcoin network operates. whether perturbed or enthused I'm happy Satoshi created Bitcoin and that's what matters imo, what would have happened if he had rather chose to work on digital ID is what we do not know, but what we do know is the opportunities btc gives to it's users and Satoshi deserves appreciation for that.

If, say, bitcoin was already conceptualized and working and Satoshi introduced a digital ID project, I wouldn't really be moved or get excited about it but rather will just be watching how it develops. In the day and age of stolen identities and fake ones, it's best to have one working digital ID that we can have in order to free ourselves from nefarious schemes and identity theft. If this digital ID is aimed towards making a unique and unalterable ID for every person who wish to use it, then I will try and use it. Similar ideas already exist so I'm not sure whether I'll be hyped if a digital ID of another variety is introduced.

I like BItcoin, I'm happy that it was made the way it was. Who knows if it would get as much attention if it had been made any different.

I can't say that I'd be thrilled. What if Satoshi remaining here and working lead to something bad like him being attacked or abducted? There's a chance that Bitcoin wouldn't be so popular if Satoshi kept on working and developing it, even if it was a work towards more security and privacy.

Let's leave the things the wey they are.

I'm a enthusiast of new innovation if Satoshi added Digital ID will still be crypto enthuse after all I use centralized exchange for crypto to fiat transaction.

Thats correct cause everyone have a dark side but for Satoshi to put his unique idea together to created something that will benefit the masses and the riches that make him a good guy. However, if this is what the government and institutions does things will be better than the way it is now.

It understood that for crypto to be mainstream some sacrifice is require in the aspect of KYC,AML and crypto community like it or not digital ID will be implemented.

i think bitcoin should have already taught us that "who" doesn't matter at all when we are talking about a project but "what" matters a lot more. we don't have any clue who the "real Satoshi" is but we fully know what "bitcoin" is. and that is why we all love and trust bitcoin this much.
same with any other project. the creator of them should never matter, but the purpose that project serves and the problem it solves is important. a Digital Identity project has its usefulness too and if well designed might be interesting.
